Generally speaking, are there any strong beliefs on Intel v AMD being the better chips? Especially as they pair with the new NVIDIA 3-series cards.
Typically.. unless they decide to just randomly flip flop all of a sudden, as I said, intel is better if you’re just building it for gaming.

If you’re doing anything else intensive besides gaming, AMD is your best value.

Some people are fans of certain brands, but you’re not gonna go wrong with either one you pick. Anyone who tells you that you made a wrong decision just has a hard time letting people enjoy their things.

No water cooling??? I'd was expecting a tubing loop from your kitchen frig to the GPU.

So far so good, still trying to get a handle on the cooling. I've learned a lot, this is not a great case for what I'm trying to do.

I wish. My m.2 drive is right under the card and pushing 95C under load. With it open in this photo (really with just the small fan on it, the bigger one is usually on the floor behind me and put on the desk for the gag photo) it stays at 44C. I've got a heatsink/fan coming for it, we'll see how it does.

Today I installed a couple of PCI slot coolers, but they're not moving the needle much yet.

This is the case I use which is fantastic for cooling.

I put the AIO fans on the top and 3 extra on the back right side plus 1 on the back of the case next to the CPU.

My OC I9 10900k at 5.1 goes no higher then 55c

My current FTW3 2080Ti OC goes no higher then 65C

I use the Kraken NZXT 3 fan AIO

Yeah, I had to give up my 3-fan radiator because of the case design and size of the 3090.

With the 3090 undercooked, 2 PCI slot fans and a decent heatsink and fan for my m.2 I'm finally in a relatively stable place with my build.

I've learned to appreciate thermals and airflow a lot more now.

These card releases are a real joke. I don't thi k the move to BestBuy changed anything. Had one in my cart for Nov. 12 delivery and sold out before checking out .

I don't know for others but the add to cart and waiting for more in the next step doesn't really seem to work correctly.

Got a second card in my cart apparently but shipping is not available in my area??? Can't ship to Michigan... Ok?!

Just done. I'll give AMD the shot I suppose

Does anybody have any games they like to play every year for Halloween (or any other holiday/season)?

Steam had the Costume Quest games marked down so I downloaded those and have been going through the first one. I still love these games. Double Fine's humor is always on the mark with me and I love their design and art style. It made me remember I need to play Brutal Legend again.

Other than that I want to finally play through the Resident Evil series - especially since Cyberpunk has been pushed back into December.

Did Resident Evil ever change their control scheme? Or is it still that weird "relative" that it was during the beginning?

Relative, but I think you can change it. They have two different settings, but it's been a couple weeks. I started off playing with the "classic" options and promptly died in the first hall lol.

The only other RE I've played was RE4 on the Gamecube.

Latest nvidia drivers seem to have broke custom fan curves. I was about to RMA my card cause the first 2 fans weren't spinning but the third was fine. I found a comment thread of multiple users on reddit with the same issue. Just in case anyone else noticed their 3080 fans weren't working.

I always stay a month back or so on my Nvidia drivers. Only because of issues like this, everything will be working perfectly and then a new driver breaks something. So now I've got into the habitat of just sitting back a version or two.
