2k is confirmed last gen, should be the last question on their FAQ

Instead of going the soundbar route, I simply went with an HDMI extractor and have an AUX cable plugged into my USB sound card. It works well. I use the sound card's software to use the mixer to get the audio balanced between the PC and the Xbox. I finally can hear my console games again.

Finally finishing up building a PC setup, something I've wanted to do for years. 49" Odyssey Neo for the monitor with a 55" CX above, 3080ti x 5900x PC, Sonos Arc for the TV and Klipsch R41PM for the monitor. All should be done within a month. Already have the XSX and PS5.

Re: OS Steam and Computer Gaming Thread

Finally upgraded my graphics card. Got a 3070 for around $500.

That should be good enough to get me buy for at least 3-5 years. I don't game a ton on PC, but I think I will be gaming a lot more on it now that I have a pretty capable card. I have a 1440p monitor and it will be nice being able to play in 1440p at ultra settings with high frames on most games.

And so far so good. Testing the card under heavy load and it barely gets hot. I have a pretty cool case with nine fans so it should stay nice and cool.

My next purchase will most likely be the Turtle Beach flight yoke system so I can play MSFS and X-Plane 11 and 12 when it comes out. And it also works on Xbox.

I've kinda stopped playing flight sim games because I just can't fly planes that have yoke's with my HOTAS. Except the military jets. Even the Airbus' are hard to fly with the stick for me. I'd rather use a yoke. Just so much more control and realism with those types of planes using one.

Pretty happy so far. Went from a 5600 XT so it's a pretty decent leap.

Re: OS Steam and Computer Gaming Thread

Looking for a little help here.

I'm trying to upgrade to an RTX 3070 from an RTX 2060 and it's failing the POST. 3 long beeps, 3 short, repeating. I put the 2060 back in and it started right up, no post beeps.

I upgraded the power supply to a Corsair 650w (up from 500 which was enough for the 2060) to prepare for this upgrade - AFAIK it was the only thing that wasn't sufficient for the new card. And that installation, which I also did on my own, went without a hitch. Works perfectly fine with the 2060 too.

These are basically the specs for the computer, aside from the 2060 and the power supply upgrade (click on the "specifications" tab).

I will say the card is an extremely tight fit inside the case, but it DOES fit. Barely. I wouldn't have been able to fit anything longer than a few more millimeters in there.

Any ideas? It's got a full warranty (the card, not the PC - it's LONG out of warranty) so if the card turns out to be bad I should be able to get it replaced, but do you see any conflicts?

                  Thanks in advance!

Try re-seating the RAM. You may have knocked one (or more) of them loose when installing the new GPU. Three beeps is typically a RAM and/or motherboard issue.

I'm not going to edit or delete the above, just going to add this.

I did a big dumb. I didn't know you had to plug two PCIe connectors into the thing - one 8-pin and one 6-pin. 2060 wasn't like that - just needed an 8-pin. Closed it back up, computer started right up.

The cord I used is one that came with the Corsair - one with two PCIe's branching off of it. I'm guessing it's fine to do that rather than using a second cord?

Unfortunately not much time to test the card before work. But being back on my desktop with the new card is certainly a $550 load off my mind.

I'm not proud of this, but when I got my 3070 I realized the connection was different and kinda panicked. I went into the back and there are so many cords back there it basically gave me a panic attack. So my wife, who had never once seen the inside of a PC mind you. She found the correct cord to run under the mobo in like 5 seconds. She did it and plugged it in and bam, new card.

Unfortunately, I may have to return the card due to unexpected financial issues, but my wife says no, I need to keep it. She is the one who's the keeper.

It wasn't so much like that with me regarding installing the 3070, but I was definitely feeling overwhelmed when replacing the power supply before that. Knowing that you're messing with every functional part of the computer when you replace it definitely made me a little apprehensive. But I had a good video on Youtube by HP of a system teardown specifically for my tower, and identical to it. That made it easier to make sure I was doing everything correctly. Was pretty relieved when I got it all put back together and everything worked the first time (at the time I still only had the 2060 card)

Still working out what I can and can't do with the 3070, but it's clear it's a big improvement over the 2060 and definitely fits my needs better (good 1440p performance, basically)
