Re: OS Steam and Computer Gaming Thread

I had a steam account with no games in it two weeks ago. Someone told me about these sales and now I'm pushing 30 games and have hardly spent anything. It would cost me too much to pick the majority of these up on consoles.

XCOM ~ $21 (Greenmangaming had 50% off and I also used a 30% off voucher)
    NBA 2k13 - $9.99 (had a $5 amazon credit to use)

I was especially happy with those two but now I'm off to grab KOTOR and might grab Max Payne 1 & 2 also. I'm a hoarder though. Getting them all and will probably never play them, lol.

A game like this bad reviews don't surprise me, but I finally found the adventure gamers review and it was bad enough to stay away, at least at $12. Shame, it's a damned good premise. Might buy if it drops below $5 some day.

This might help you out a bit. I had that in my cart and I made myself not get it.

I got Hitman Absolution for 20 bucks on Amazon figuring it'd be their crappy download service. Little did I know that it just ended up giving me a Steam code! So happy, much prefer Steam to other services, and I had 20 bucks in Amazon credit, which is why I passed up the Steam Absolution sale after Xmas.

It is a nice feature and I'm glad a lot of games have gone this route, sans EA/Ubisoft games. Not all activate on Steam but you can always check its DRM before you buy.

I have a question for you PC guys. If some of yall remember I do a lot of gaming on PC and primarily where I started gaming. Over the last 4 years or so i have drifted more towards 360 just for the easy of use and friends.

I just installed a new video card which is HDMI capable and hooked it up to my TV to start gaming on the TV like the console. I did this about 6 months ago, I bought a wireless keyboard and mouse, got everything hooked up and running good but would get considerable lag drop outs of the mouse and keyboard not responding (had to be interference with wifi network). I returned both to the store and basically have not started my PC since. I can't go the wired route and the moment just because the distance between tower and couch (10 feet about). Plus I don't want wires running through the living room floor.

Any ideas about going wireless and not having this issue? With Company of Heros 2 on the horizon I would really like to get my setup working properly since I know I'm going to want to get back into my PC.

Could you just get a monitor and be all set? Good monitors can be pretty cheap and allow for some excellent resolutions.

oh my man cave I have a 22" wide screen sammy which I "unhooked" it from to move it to the living room. I mean I COULD move it back there but I hate sitting at a computer desk all the time. I like to sit on the couch and game more now. Wired keyboard and razor mouse all back there at the desk also, I just bought the new video card with HDMI in mind just so I could game in the living room plus double as a DVD player.

^This. I had 2 games on steam a week ago, I now have about 20 and am looking at more. These sales are just too good to pass up!

You could try getting one of the MS wireless 360 controllers for Windows (if they still sell it)...

Maybe try another brand wireless keyboard/mouse? You will experience a little lag/whatnot since it's wireless, but maybe a different one would be better.

The wireless 360 controller for windows is still selling. I just bought a one to replace an old one. Check it: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...B0HWG7J1BV9D2P. It comes with the receiver as well.

As for the Steam daily sales today, I HIGHLY recommend everyone here get Bastion for $3.74...in my opinion, the absolute, bestest Indie game in recent memory. Also, the audio is second to none. The game is absolutely amazing. I'll help you all out by linking you directly to it: http://store.steampowered.com/app/10...snr=1_4_4__800. You will thank me later .

On another note, anyone know anything about Recettear? The other two community choices for vote don't interest me at all.

Depending on your PC, Possible USB 3.0 interference, either way, very simple solution, just get some USB extension cords and place your dongles on top of your PC or your just away from any interference.

I bought a wirelss KB and trackball mouse. Then added the wireless XBOX controller receiver for games I rather use a controller.
When with a trackball mouse as it can just sit on the arm of my recliner and have no issues.
Games with no Controller options that I want to use a controller with, I use Xpadder.

                              Game on...

I second that recommendation, IMO best combination of story, immersive environment, music, gameplay of any indie game for sale. Absolutely a must buy for the price it's currently at. Even though the game is short, you'll play it again either with a different loadout or to hear the narrator, which possibly at least for me is one of the reasons I play the game.

Interesting thing about Recettear is I was searching on Steam for a game like that was like Bastion and someone suggested Recettear.

                                Anyone play endless space?
