I have this Logitech keyboard I bought for $30 at Target. It works great, light, low profile, and has a trackpad. I use a wired 360 controller when I need a controller.

I have been gaming on a ASUS gaming laptop that's a couple years old but last night I bit the bullet and got an Alienware X51 gaming PC. It's a little bigger than an Xbox and it's AWESOME. It's all hooked up to my 52" Sharp LCD and my 7.1 HT setup.

    Can't wait to get home!

Yea the wireless 360 controller is not the issue. I use that just find and have no issue. It is when I play RTS's or control heavy shooters like ARMA I need the mouse and keyboard and the logitch I tried just could not stay consistent.

My motherboard only has USB 2.0 so that can't be the issue.

Now with that said, it is not so much "lag" as it feels like the keyboard or mouse lose signal for 1/2 a second or so. This happened repeatedly every 5 min or so it would drop then return to normal. I am unsure of "what" was the cause, I just took it being interference from the wifi network. I need to get a dual band 5.0ghz I just have not got around to it since my current modem works so well.

When with a trackball mouse as it can just sit on the arm of my recliner and have no issues.
Games with no Controller options that I want to use a controller with, I use Xpadder.

      Game on...
Exactly what I'm trying to achieve lol minus the aggravation of constantly losing connection to the PC. If I could find a wireless keyboard and mouse that can maintain it connection without any interference then that would be the solution. Maybe a blue tooth style wireless devices??

I'm not sure if they suffer from the same interference issue, was just a thought that popped in my mind while typing.

I like the device, but I'm sketchy to try it since that logitech uses the same wireless plug and go adapter as the logitech I was having all the connection issues with.

Is Civilizations III any good? My computer can't handle V and I'm not even sure if it can IV, but I wouldn't mind trying one of those games out if they are pretty fun. For $1.25 I might just pick it up just to have it.

Civ III and IV got me through my first deployment. A definite buy for the price.

What are your computer's specs? I never played III but I can definitely recommend IV. I played that quite a bit and I know some people still prefer it to V (personally I can't handle the "stack of doom" after playing V, but that's just me....)

Civ IV's stack of doom and Civ V's one unit are both unrealistic but I think the stack of doom is a better option and it the way the AI behaves towards it is def more realistic. In my opinion, Civ IV complete is one the best experiences on the PC, it really feels like the complete game(minus graphics of course).

It's tough to gauge how well your PC can run IV since as the game progresses it adds more and more. I would see where your PC fast on the recommendation.

Definitely getting dated, will probably upgrade soon but until then I need some games to play!
