    Love Shogun 2..Great pick up
EA and 2k have the unfortunate task of trying to balance on a tightrope of fun and sim while trying not to fall 10,000 feet to their death. Instead of a safety net waiting down below there will just be angry customers quick to move out of the way and talk of their failure.

Crytocurrency mining has decimated PC gaming. I remember when you could build a beast for $600, now mid-tier your looking at $1,000 to $1,200. A true highend gaming beast will run you $1,800 to $2,000 now.

Mining has drove up just about every single component. GPU's have taken most of the hit, none are in stock, the ones that they do have are going 1/3rd more than retail release prices(power supplies too). Ram is now double the cost it was 2 years ago.

      It's a damn shame!

If you've been planning to jump into the PC gaming waters, WAIT because it's going to cost far more than a console!!! A couple years ago my main stance was I could build a PC comparable in price to the release prices of an X1 or PS4, so your getting more power & features for your money than a proprietary console.

Now that isn't the case, entry into PC gaming is being severely crippled by the cryptocurrency mining trend. I don't know how 2018 is going to turn out but I'm not liking the direction this is going.

Side Note: If your GPU goes out, good luck! Buying new for a decent price will be next to impossible so heading to Ebay and going used might be the only other route. Sad sad sad

It must've been a year or two ago, I was buying RAM and ended up buying some that wasn't compatible with my motherboard, 2 8 GB sticks for like $80. Now that would be like $200, it's really wild to see the changes in demand on parts and how the market is affected. Graphics cards are just gone.

I find it funny this is happening, especially with the chances of mining any cryptocurrency worth a crap is going to take a very long time. And oh yeah, you're competing against the coin farms of China. All I can say to those buying for mining, enjoy your electric bill and nothing to show for it.

Yep when I built mine I think I got it done right before the explosion.

Right now my same build (Which includes 3 monitors) is just over 1600.00 without the GPU....

The RAM prices skyrocketing has to do with smartphones and the manufacturers price fixing. I've been wanting to upgrade my i5-2500K, but a new CPU, mobo, and RAM is going to run above $600. Luckily I bought a 1060 last year before GPU prices skyrocketed, but the price of RAM is keeping me from upgrading the rest. Crazy when I few years ago RAM was the least of your worries and now its the 2nd/3rd most expensive part of the build.

First 2 items ordered for the new build. Now to wait for the Ryzen 2's and see if GPU's will ever hit the shelves long enough for us to buy them. I'm very sick of this mining crap.

Case - Corsair 270R (no window, I don't like RGB stuff, just give me clean and plain)

Power Supply - EVGA Supernova 650 (hoping its enough wattage, I've been running 750 for years)

Bought a gaming laptop today from MicroCenter. It's their in home brand, but it seems to be a Clevo chassis. I haven't seen a 1070 + SSD/HDD combo cheaper anywhere else. Seems to come with a decent SSD as well (960 Evo).

I've been searching some, but does anyone have a good list of programs to download? Looking forward to diving into this.

Nowinstock.net, go through there and just check out how there is literally ZERO GPU's anywhere on this big blue planet other than used on ebay. This is flat out stupid!

Yeah you best bet is to walk into a random Best Buy and try your luck to see if they have a GPU on the shelf. Good thing my 1080 is still going strong.

Yeah the microcenter I was had very little selection in terms of GPU's. Nothing above a 1050TI for recent cards.

At some point Nvidia and AMD need to do something. Like make special cards that are geared towards cryptomining so those people can buy those and make a separate line for gamers.
