Re: OS Steam and Computer Gaming Thread
On the EVGA XC3 3080 and the stock fan curve, 99% GPU load on BFV with ray tracing temps were at about 75C. Using a custom fan curve of 70%, temps were at 65C and fans were not audible in my lancool mesh case. I'm more than happy with this. I'm not sure how this compares with other cards like the ASUS TUF which appeared to have great cooling to noise ratio, but I'll take 65C on max load and not being able to hear my GPU.Comment

Re: OS Steam and Computer Gaming Thread
Havent had a gaming PC.....or really even a home PC other than Ipads and tablets in several years. Been a PS4 gamer ever since release day for it, but wanted to make some changes this go around. I did manage to get a preorder for a PS5 and an X (will probably just having it in the living room), but went out and bought a Omen 30L with the Ryzen 9 and a GTX 2070 super.
That's it, that's the story lol and yes I know I should have probably waited until a little later because of the new AMD chips but got this on a really good deal and couldnt pass it up.Comment

"Nvidia’s Founders Edition cards seem to be in the clear, as ComputerBase reports that the issue appears to be affecting custom variants of the RTX 3080. This includes the Zotac GeForce RTX 3080 Trinity, the EVGA RTX 3080 XC, and the MSI GeForce RTX 3080 Ventus 3X OC – all of which have been overclocked by their respective manufacturers."Joshua:

Re: OS Steam and Computer Gaming Thread
Everything should be here this week and I'll likely have my new PC built by this weekend.
10700k
RTX 3080
32 gb RAM
All at 1440p. Should be good for a few years. Excited to see Cities Skylines run at 40fps on this system. In all seriousness, I can't wait to see Red Dead on this as well as Cyber Punk and Watch Dogs Legion later on this year.“No one is more hated than he who speaks the truth.”

Re: OS Steam and Computer Gaming Thread
@ckarlic have you checked for your watch dogs bundle code? I noticed EVGA sent me 2 watch dogs and 2 GeForce now codes. I wonder if I can redeem another code for someone else or if GeForce experience can detect one has already been redeemed on my card.

Re: OS Steam and Computer Gaming Thread
Yeah. Strange I got 2 as well from EVGA. Thought I was the only one. I tried redeeming one of them on Geforce and wasnt able to. I got an error when I tried. I tried the other code and it gave me a notice that I already had a code redeemed on my account so it can detect it.@ckarlic have you checked for your watch dogs bundle code? Have you been able to successfully redeem your code and link your Uplay account to your Geforce account? Looking at the nvidia forums, I see some others having the same issue. I will keep on trying.
BTW, which card were you able to get? I got the XC3 with metal backplate. So far so good for me and have been seeing great framerates on all the games I play. Looking forward to trying out this card with CyberPunk when it launches.Last edited by ckarlic; 09-28-2020, 11:38 AM.PSN: ckarlic

Did you try using a separate GeForce experience account/Uplay? I'm gonna try redeeming it on my friends account tonight to see if it works. I have the same xc3 card as you. I was debating going for the one without a backplate and ordering one of those custom backplates that people make

Re: OS Steam and Computer Gaming Thread
That's really what I was hoping for. I haven't built a PC from scratch in year.s It's been upgrading a part here, upgrading a part there. My current build is completely different from what I originally had before the replacements were made, but this will be the first time in basically a decade where everything is new.
Depending on how the 3080 handles games moving forward at 4k, that will likely be my next decision to make. I don't think I will end up biting the 4k bullet, but I will keep an open mind on it. It would be for single player games only, the 1440p monitor would remain the "competitive" monitor for the higher frames, but if the 3080 really can handle 4k 60fps gaming with newer games, I may end up biting the bullet sometime next summer/fall.“No one is more hated than he who speaks the truth.”

Re: OS Steam and Computer Gaming Thread
Any recommendations or advice on acquiring one of the 3080 cards? Everywhere I’ve looked they are sold out.

Re: OS Steam and Computer Gaming Thread
Hold off on buying one until the capacitor issue is fixed on these cards that is causing constant crashing.
Unless you are getting the high end third party cards like Asus Strix and FTW3 from EVGA which are more expensive.
I am waiting until I can get the Strix OC from Asus 3090 that cost $1800
I already have the i9 10900K and want to pair it with the best GPUComment

Re: OS Steam and Computer Gaming Thread
The caps thing was overblown, non issue. Driver update dropped today and everyone is able to overclock their cards with no crashes
