I did a big dumb. I didn't know you had to plug two PCIe connectors into the thing - one 8-pin and one 6-pin. 2060 wasn't like that - just needed an 8-pin. Closed it back up, computer started right up.

The cord I used is one that came with the Corsair - one with two PCIe's branching off of it. I'm guessing it's fine to do that rather than using a second cord?

Unfortunately not much time to test the card before work. But being back on my desktop with the new card is certainly a $550 load off my mind.
If your power supply comes with more than 1 PCIE cable, use another one instead of using the same cable with 2 plugs.

Oh that makes sense. As for your question, oh man, that's a HUGE debate. Run another power rail or use the same?

Well for years I ran off the same rail with my 3070. Never had any issues whatsoever. But when I got my new 3080 I did run a second power rail up and didn't use the second connector on the first rail.

I think you will be fine either way but if you want to do it the better way then grab a second rail from your power supply that powers nothing else and run that to the card instead of using the second connector.

Or don't...I honestly don't know if it makes much difference but I always try to err on the side of caution. That way if you do get any bugs you know it's not that issue.

Re: OS Steam and Computer Gaming Thread

So last night the bottom fans and the top fans all went funky with their RGB lights. I like static an it's spinning with different colors. I have an Asus mobo and I use Armoury Crate, and it recgnizes them just like before but anything I do in the app, nothinch changes the issue.

I did everrything I saw for troubleshooting. Nothing worked. Just wondering if anyone had any ideas of what the issue is. Thanks

I'm not familiar with Armoury Crate since I have a MSI motherboard, but I have to use their MSI Center software, which I hate cause my Aio needs it to show the temps on the display. Maybe the software updated and broke something.

I would try a different version. I use a older version MSI Center for similar reasons.

Usually a reboot will fix that but I'm thinking you likely tried that. Perhaps see if there is an update, both for ASUS and/or Windows.

If all else fails you could do what I did on my last PC and just get SignalRGB and try that and uninstall the other software for the RGB portion (or just make it so it doesn't run at startup as it will conflict with SignalRGB).

I tried all of that. I did try SignalRGB, but it won't run. Every time I try to run it it just doesn't run. So I'm at a loss.

What other accessories do you have? Their software could have updated causing this. Corsair iCUE for example. Double check all the apps in the system try too.

Do they do it on startup before windows loads? That'd tell you if it's a hardware profile on the controller or something, or something loading after windows boots. If it's the latter, check your startup items (right click start, Task Manger, startup tab) for possible suspects.

I had this issue once, didn't realize armory crate or iCUE was controlling the light on my 3090, didn't know why it was blinking red, thought it was an error, lol.

It does start messing up on startup. I do seem to remember updating Armoury Crate. I also just installed a network/bluetooth card, but it ran ok for a few days after that. I went in and unplugged the bluetooth plug but that didn't help.

I wonder if it's that update? Either way, it does it all the time and starts doing it right on startup.

I fixed the issue with a simple remote replacement for the RGB controller. Of all the things. The fans were supposed to come with a remote but never did. I bought a replacement on Amazon, and boom, works perfectly though the remote now.

                    So much better.

Finally built my PC and desk… literally years in the making and its finally here. Booted the PC and it gets to BIOS so all should be good, hopefully. Just need to install windows. Couple questions:

                      1) windows 10 or 11?
                      2) the lian li sl infinity fans are all connected, the light up, but dont spin. I assume i just need to download the L-Connect firmware for the controller and everything will work after?

Windows 11. And your fans should spin, regardless of controller or not. Only thing the controller will do is control the speed.

The software for Lian Li Infinity fans contains an ON/OFF switch. You can do the same thing with EVGA GPUs...stop them from spinning completely unless a certain temp is reached. There are reasons people may enable these features.

Yeah my fans are set to not spin until the temps hit a certain temp, otherwise they remain off

Has windows 11 been fixed for VR?
When it first came out it jacked up VR.

I can upgrade but that has me on the maybe not right now mindset..
Guess I can just google it but just seeing if anyone knew
