I can get 34-40 down, 10-15 up, sitting a few feet from my PS4. But my PS4 can't even get over 1 down. Don't understand it.

Are you using the 5ghz bandwidth or the 2ghz one ? PS4 flies on the 5ghz. You might also want to check your Nat type as well. Sound like you have a closed Nat.

The network test says I have nat type 2. And the router only has 2.4, no 5. I wonder if thats an issue.

Might be. 5ghz has way more bandwidth. So I would just buy a dual band router and try it out.

I can't get my PS4 to connect to my 5GHZ bandwidth, it doesn't even show up in the network list. There is a blank, unnamed network that shows up in the list and I know this must be the 5GHZ channel because it disappears from the list when I unplug the router and reappears as soon as the router connects again. When I try to connect to this nameless network though, it gives me an error message.

Anybody have any suggestions? My laptop and iPhone connect to the 5GHZ channel with no issues.

Edit: I just googled and most of the results say that PS4 doesn't support 5GHZ bandwidth. What magic are you using to get your PS4 to connect to it?

What is the best suggestion for me to do w my old ps3 original edition (big heavy sob) and an xbox 360 kinetic version. I'd like to trade them in for a new next gen system just don't know where or what would be the best place or way.

+1 on the power line adapter. I have one for my living room and one for my son's room and our speeds have improved immensely and have been very consistent.

This is the one I have http://www.bestbuy.com/site/netgear-...=1218603011817

I prefer wire over wireless any day if I can.

My PowerLine adapters are out for delivery today. I have heard both good and bad experiences with them. I was/am so frustrated with the wifi problems though. I'm concerned something is wrong with the console.

Do you have an Ethernet cable to connect them? If they're just a few feet away, always go wired.

I would hang onto the ps3 as you will still get 3 free games a month as long as you have ps + which is required for multiplayer on ps4. Just stick the ps3 in another room and have it as a netflix/blu ray box.

Sounds like you're ready to move to the next generation.

I'd take them to either Best Buy or Gamestop and get whatever money you can for them now while they're still working. You could go the Ebay or Craig's List route, but if they break, you'd be stiffin' someone hard. I'm sure you don't want to do that.

I say move on it ASAP, before you're stuck with broken systems and no money in return.
