Use Dynamic Difficulty. It adjusts to your skill level.

Quick Counts + Dynamic Difficulty = Sports Gaming Nirvana

+1 for that. I had an awesome game last night with Quick Counts and Dynamic difficulty. I was the A's playing the Giants at AT&T park. It was tied 7-7 in the 12th inning, and of course, Michael Morse had to hit a HR to win the game. I lost, but I had a blast.

An FYI for The Show newbies, Season mode is more than one season, it's basically a Franchise Lite mode. I like dealing with just my 40-man roster rather than my AA/AAA teams, so I always go Season mode.

As far as hitting, I think it's both easier and harder than past years. I'm not striking out nearly as much as past years, but a lot of balls in play have been outs for me. Loving it so far.

Exactly the same for me. Sold contact doesn't always guarantee a hit for me. That's baseball.

I am really glad I switched over to PS4. I know that a console should not be based alone in the exclusive games...but having MLB:TS is a wonderful thing for me. I personally prefer Sports video games than others. So while waiting for NHL, my favorite sports game (EA's - hopefully they will deliver for I am disappointed with this game since 2011), I have TS to keep me busy. And if EA sucks with their NHL 15 or 2K's NBA , then its ok...i have this sport game I am loving it so far.

I wonder with this new $399 kinect less xbox if PS4 will try and lower the price tag to $350 at E3?

There's no reason to lower the price, probably won't be a reason for a full 2 years or so.

I don't think Sony can't afford to lower to price anymore. Plus they don't need to. The PS4 is selling like hot cakes and will continue to do so.

I figure the average consumer doesn't know which console is more powerful and they just buy the cheapest or the one they see on Tv. Xbox seems to gets tons of more Tv add time.

Figured you have the cheaper console people will pick it up.

I am thinking about using Dynamic difficulty as well with quick counts.

A few questions - If I use DD, can I change things like fielders speed/reaction and arm strength, or will it throw everything out of whack?

Coincidentally we just had a couple of DD nuggets dropped on us by a dev today.

Some additional notes on Dynamic Difficulty:
* Sliders work the same as always, independently of DD
* As pointed out, you can maintain two separate option profiles so that two different people can play or so you can keep Franchise / RTTS separate.
* There are special rules to prevent promotion/demotion in the middle of a close game.
* RTTS hitters and relievers gain/lose progress at twice the rate. Since they have far fewer opportunities per game, it can still take many games to see a change.

The drops are 1/2 difficulties, meaning to get from Allstar to Veteran you'd need two big slumps in a row. If you lost 3 of 4 games in a series, you'd probably not get demoted - it depends on how badly you lost rather than how often. You could lose 4 of 4 games, and if they were close games you probably wouldn't be demoted either.

How fast you get promoted/demoted is proportional to how badly you're winning/losing. Most of the time, neither will happen. You can theoretically have a very long losing streak, 10+/20+ games lost in a row, and still not get demoted as long as they were all close enough. There's no limit to how many games you can lose in a row - you can lose all 162 games and not get demoted even 1/2 a difficulty.

For example, a team can get 9 hits 2 doubles and a home run, give up 9 hits 2 doubles and a home run, and still lose 4-5 because the hits weren't stacked up in the right situation. Such a team won't get promoted/demoted even though they 'lost' because there was nothing statistically wrong with their performance.

To illustrate that further, 3 singles in the 1st inning and none in innings 2 and 3 will probably give you a run. 1 single each inning for the first three innings will get you none. Both examples are the same OPS, but the first scenario puts you ahead. Dynamic Difficulty however cares about the latter because it's a fairer assessment.

If you lose by a ton for several games in a row, the game will demote you. And if on Veteran+ you keep losing by a ton for several games in a row, it'll demote you again. It isn't going to care that you really should stay on Allstar, because how would it know? It only cares about how you actually did.

Does anybody have any tips for hitting for a newbie at The Show? I'm using sliders based on the ones posted in here (and the same as my Online franchise), but am having a terrible time. I think patience is my main problem right now, but I really have no strategy.

On the flip side I'm really enjoying pitching.

Definitely lower pitch speed a lot. I wouldn't recommend playing with Quick Counts though. If you are having a problem hitting, then I suggest you play the full at bats so you can take a pitch or two if you want so that you get better timing at the game. Dynamic Difficulty is real good too for starting out.
