The only mixed reviews I've seen are from serious audiophiles and hard-core gamers who prefer $300 headsets. Everything else has been nothing but great and that was at the $100 price. Many consider $70 a steal. It'll be real hard to find a better headset at that price.

$70 is a STEAL. I came from the Astro A50s and the Gold headset makes me plenty happy. They're not as comfy as the Astros (only b/c the Astro have rotating cups), but the sound is really good and there is zero interference or noise. The simplicity of hook up on the Golds is just plain awesome. Plug & Play.PSN: jaydazzle

Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion
This was going to be my next question, I've read a few mixed things about it - all of which were pertaining to The Show since that's the only game out at the moment that I will definitely get. Some were good and some were "meh"...so do any of you guys use Remote Play and what has been your experience with it?Comment

For 100 bucks, the Golds are a decent deal. For 70 bucks, you won't find a better headset for PC/PS4 gaming for 70 or cheaper. When I saw the deal I had to order one just for backup purposes."Successful people do not celebrate in the adversity or misfortune of others."

Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion
I used the expensive headset for about two days before plugging the Gold headset back in.
The Gold headset might not have the directional audio that some hardcore gamers might need (the guys who have to know exactly what direction every sound is coming from when playing games like BF4 and CoD and whatnot) but, for my ears, in overall sound quality, mic quality, comfort, ease of use, the Golds were way better.
When they first came out I read the mixed reviews too, a couple sites only gave it like a 6 out of 10 and complained that people had trouble hearing them on the mic. I honestly think those people had the headsets on backwards, it doesn't really tell you this but the mic is on the LEFT side, the side with the buttons should always be the left, that side has the mic on the front.
Sound quality wise, maybe it doesn't have the deepest bass but, overall, it is very clear and just sounds very clean. For 100 bucks it is a good option, for 70 its a great deal."Successful people do not celebrate in the adversity or misfortune of others."

My setup - router is on the basement (due to having comcast internet and directv, with my house coax setup it was the only way to do it unless i got the coax rewired), ps4 on the main level.
1 - Direct connect. You can connect directly to the PS4 and that works perfectly, but you have to be within 30 feet or so if i recall. with the ps4 in the family room i can direct connect just about everywhere on the main floor. works great as a secondary controller too. Occasional hiccup, but for the most part works just fine. basically no lag.
2 - though LAN. If i go up to the 2nd floor i get a very weak signal from the ps4 so go the LAN route through my router. being 2 floors up (and ps4 1 floor up) from the router, it still works pretty well. A few more occasional issues than direct connect. occasional lag, occasional graphical hitches, but still very serviceable.
3 - though internet. This can kinda be hit or miss. it would probably be better if my ps4 was directly wired to the ps4 (as would the LAN route) but it can usually get the job done. the key here is the ping value. if i play though my phones hotspot (14-20 mbps) the graphics can keep up as if i were playing through LAN, but the ping is about 70ms which is pretty noticeable for button lag. when i use my open wifi at work, it is only 1.5-2mbps so occasionally the graphics with get a slight blurred spot where it wasnt totally buffered or whatever, but because the ping is only like 5ms there is absolutely no noticeable button lag.
if through the internet i wouldnt suggest doing anything "serious" like online gaming or playing a franchise game of any sort, but totally fine for a simple game like pixel junk shooter, dont starve, knack, etc. In the house direct or LAN i think everything is doable, though some games are "harder" than others. i was able to play nba2k14 just fine, but for some reason i couldnt manage AC4. ANd also keep in mind there are no triggers (hoping for some sort of grip that will do it to make the touchscreen presses for you) so for a sports game using r2 as turbo, keep in mind it can get kinda uncomfortable.
Hope that helps.Comment

Just bought those Golds. You guys better be right or I'm gonna listen to my games in wireless silence!

(1) It works almost perfectly for games with simpler control schemes. Lego Marvel Superheroes is a good example -- since L2, R2, L3, and R3 don't have unique functions, controlling the game with the Vita is 1:1. This is true for most arcade titles as well.
(2) While the "default" is to map L2, R2, L3, and R3 to the Vita's back touch pad, map L1 and R1 to the Vita's shoulder buttons, and put the PS4 touch pad on the Vita's front screen, that's not set in stone. Some games map the controls to the front touch pad rather than the back, and some games flip the assignments around to put the more frequently-used controls to the Vita's shoulder buttons. For example, Need For Speed Rivals puts L2 and R2 on the Vita's shoulder buttons because those are the brake and accelerator. Watch_Dogs uses a hybrid scheme that puts L3 and R3 on the front screen and L1 and R1 on the back touch pad.
(3) For the most part, games run at a noticeably lower visual fidelity on the Vita. You'll sometimes see screen tearing and refresh issues not present on the PS4, increasingly so when the connection is strained.
(4) All games are compatible with Remote Play, but the quality of the experience varies from game to game. The Pinball Arcade is almost unplayable because of poor framerate and lag, while Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes looks and plays great.
(5) Since the Vita's analog sticks are looser than the PS4's, playing certain games (like shooters) can feel off. In NBA 2K14, it was almost impossible for me to time jump shots correctly when using analog shot control.Comment
