That's because your hardrive isn't really 500GB. It's around 466GB.

and how do you come to that conclusion? I have never heard any thing like that before. Yes you don't get to use 500 but that is because it takes so much for the operation system but it is 500. So are you telling me if you get a 2TB drive it is not really 2TB then lol.

Correct. It takes more than 1000 MB to make 1 GB. They just use a round number so it makes it easier I guess.

Literally everything with a hard drive is less than advertised once formatted.

My iPhone is a 16gb and like 12 of that is usable.

If all of that is true dose it really matter then because wouldn't it be the same when it saids a game is say 50GB or 30GB ect?

Just semeds crazy if 34GB of it is not really there then that would mean for like the biggest drives the 6TB drives that 408GB are not really there that means a 6TB drive is more like 5.582TB.

When dose ever one think we will get a ps4 slim? Also how small do you think it will be? I don't know if we will ever get a system has small has ps2 slim that thing was so small.

Oh so is this really worth it though? I mean I think the biggest hard drive you can get fit into a ps4 is 2TB right now but if you want I am sure bigger hard drives will come out and they will become cheaper over time. If you get this right now you are going to be paying what ever this thing cost plus the price for a bigger hard drive witch is going to cost more then it will in the furtchure when you may not need something like this and when the cost for hard drives or cheaper.

External could be much bigger than 2TB, that restriction mostly comes from only being able to use a 9.5mm internal drive

what that is what I mean. I am sure has time goes on that will change and bigger ones will come out that still fit the 9.5mm has they will problem find a way to make them smaller and smaller like phone and ipads have gotten smaller over time.

1024 kB officially to make a Megabyte. After all these years, theyve realized that's a dumb standard, so one part of the industry changes it to 1000 kB and the other still uses 1024. Manufacturers use the math that makes their product look better, like every other industry. Add in OS installation and any special file system formatting, and you have a new, always smaller number. Yes, my 3 TB drive is not actually 3 TB, more like 2.4 or so in Linux. I don't remember the exact number.

Its more or less the same thing your internet provider does when they tell you you're getting 50 Mb download. The small 'b' is for 'bits', a large 'B' is for 'Bytes'. So which ever number they give you, you effectively have to divide it by 8 to get how many Megabytes /sec download you actually have. They advertise a larger, but less helpful number so it looks better.

It's all about sales and looking better, make-up and peacocks ...... every company lies to look better.
