I won't feel ripped off at all. Gaming is an expensive hobby when you consider consoles, games, accessories, TVs/Monitors, etc.

It's something I love and will always want to have the best console out, aside from some of the glaring PS service omissions (being able to change PS ID) I think Sony has done a wonderful job with their systems. I've been playing since PS1 and I've only had one problem ever with my PS2.

They are extremely well made, always have good specs, controller/games are awesome, etc.

I'm chomping at the bit to preorder this thing.

But seriously how many people will feel ripped off with this? I could have gotten a 4k tv a year ago, but went with a 50 inch hdtv, because I hate that soap opera effect. I read recently you can turn it off though... Cable tv is still only in 1080i. I'm confused about the hdmi 2.0 that they aren't backwards compatible. So, my theater wouldn't work on them? Since I have a theater, ps4, ps3 and a hd cable box would all be bunk or what?
      Anyway, I won't get a 4k just to get a 4k ps4, because of a tv I bought a year ago and a ps4 I got 2 years ago.
Will others who keep the ps4 feel left out? Will they think well my system isn't as good as the new one, so why even get that game?
In my opinion, it is going to be a mistake. Should have saved it for a ps5 and have a big boom for the future era.
If it was an upgraded system to be compatible for the VR which won't be a game changer in my..eyes, and wondering how many incidents that will have, since people are already punching tv's haha, and if it will cause eye problems in the future. Have a 4k blu ray player, and why not, steady 60 frames ( I'm not a frame queen) that would be fine. But what sounds scary is the better graphics part. If it was the same game, but have an illusion of 4k that would be different, but to sound like games in the future will be made for 4k and the normal ps4 games will be less and almost like a downgrade sounds bad.
If the normal ps4 games keep growing and getting better as the cycle goes on and we get the best out of it then It would be ok. Maybe I'm putting too much thought into it. Who knows, maybe the rumors are off and it is just a better chip to handle VR and stream and play 4k movies.
My ramble that probably doesn't make sense is over, carry on everyone.
LOL..That was still a good ramble

That's what I think its going to be. This is not to stop a Game Developer however from saying, "Hey, there's more power here but, lets wait until increased sales to population before increasing development costs for a consistent 60fps market".

They'll have a blueprint to a fast changing environment. On the other hand, its like you're sitting at the red light in your 2015 Chrysler, and the 2016 Porsche is next to you. They both service your needs, differently in expensive ways.

If this gets released, **** you Sony!!!
I don't understand this sentiment. If Sony continues to offer the same titles for the PS4 and continues to support the PS4 like they are now, why be upset if they are offering gamers a 4K option at the same time? This may even lead to a price drop for the PS4 and that would be great for those who do not have a PS4.
I am the lesson after the fall.

This!!! Bringing another PS on to the market will almost certainly drop the price of the PS4.

I'm in complete agreement with everything you said.

I'd like to buy about 26 of them or so to create a gaming desk for the one I'm actually going to use.

The problem is: The developers will most likely aim towards the most powerful hardware. Those with the PS4 will certainly have to deal with bad performance.

If you don't believe me, just look how Hyrule Warriors Legends plays on the New 3ds and the old 3ds.

It was made with the new hardware in mind, and as a consequence, the game is almost unplayable on old 3ds models.

The price cut would only be interesting for those who don't have a PS4. If you already have one, the price cut won't matter.

But even if you don't have a PS4 when the PS4K comes out, why would you buy the old model, with a less capable hardware, that will probably have performance issues with newer games, when you can buy the definitive version of the same console?

And if you have any interest in VR, then there's no reason to buy the old model.

There is zero chance that the new PS4K will produce native 4K gaming unless sony prices this in the $1200 to $1500 range which it will never fly with the average customer.

The ps4k will stream 4K content and have a 4K blu ray player but games will see a bump in graphics and performance. Think of guranteed 1080p 60fps in all games at worst and some at 1440p

The ps4 version is not going to have performance issues. It will be the normal ps4 version at 900p or 1080p 30 to 60fps depending on the game.

It is just that the ps4K version will get 1080p at worst with some 1440p and at worst 60fps locked on all games.

The devs are just going to make a game that plays on both consoles but performs better if you play that same game on the ps4K

Like the pc version of any game. Is the same game for all but those with better rigs can get more out of the game

I smell fail. I'm sorry it's my honest opinion..

Hardcore gamers want controller to in hand and game. That how I see it. Idk I guess I'm old school

Devs still have problems optimizing games between XONE/PS4/PC, imagine how it will be with another 2 different hardwares (cause you can expect a X-1.5 as well).

Just wait until Ubisoft and/or Bethesda drops their first games made with the PS4K devkit as a base.

It will be a mess, and it will be too late.

Aren't those statements conflicting? I think that's what the concern is. What kind of performance issues are going to start popping up when there are multiple versions of PS4 games? Will there be a noticeable difference like there is/was between PS4 and PS3 versions?

To me it feels like they're moving into another gen, but backwards capability is a functioning feature.
