Yes I do, they are way too long and a lot of it is speculative. I enjoy the ones that are factual and don't identify people as stupid or morons though.Comment

Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion
This is silly, building a PC isn't expensive.
Speaking of the PC vs consoles "debate"...just over 4 years ago I spent $2800 on a top of the line ASUS gaming laptop. Since I'm buying Quantum Break tomorrow I am getting a free copy of the Windows 10 version. I check the system specs thinking my laptop would run it but probably at lower settings.
Nope, my $2800 laptop which was as badass as they come 4 years and 1 month ago won't even run Quantum Break on the lowest possible setting.
Then I look over at my PS4 and Xbox One and remember why I prefer console gaming. I've had my PS4 for 2 years. I'll bet in 2 more years when its 4 years old it'll still be relevant to new PS4 games.
$399 versus $2,800 and the cheap one runs games for years and years while the other simply....doesn't. End of debate IMO.badComment

Originally posted by joet6683So let me get this straight...a company is sneaky for not telling you their business plan from the start. Or for not jumping in with their announcement before their planned date because leaked rumors. Or deserve to fail because they introduce an enhanced product to do what a business does, try to make money. And before anything official is even said, you are smart enough to know they are ****ting on 40m customers and their hardware is useless. And people who choose to spend their money on something they want are morons because you wouldn't. I get all that right?
Third part is from experience because I was a sucker and did all this crap last gen and saw how the entire console gaming industry is going and sorry, it's not good. Do I think that consumers who bought a PS4 and then run out and buy an upgraded PS4 are morons? Yeah, I do because they're being suckered into it and don't even realize it. I learned from last gen to stop being a sucker for all these publishers. It has nothing to do with me not spending the money while others do that makes them morons. It has to do with the fact that they're basically getting ripped off and screwed over and until you actually wake up and realize it, you'll keep giving in to it all. And that's why gaming is worse than back in the day. Because of all this extra stuff. Bad enough consoles don't even last as long as they should, cost hundreds of dollars, need to be updated like a damn computer and if you have any problem with it, chances are you're going to think, this damn thing is going to crap out on me. I have had that problem and I know others have as well but yet, let's give Sony more money.
Originally posted by joet6683Why are you so entitled? And who are you to tell people how they should spend money?
I'm not telling anyone what to do with their money. It's not even about their money. It's about making console gaming better and keeping it what it's always been. Not changing it to something it's not nor has ever been. If anyone wants to waste their money on PS4.5, that's up to them but one thing is for sure, those who do better not complain about the console still being underpowered or that the games aren't as good looking as they should be or whatever the case may be because in the end, all this crap in gaming is a result of gamers themselves and not having the balls to sometimes, say, you know what, enough is enough. I'm done supporting these shady tactics and bull crap scams. Sadly though, that's never ever going to happen though even though I wish it would.Comment

Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion
My concerns with PS4.5 is simple -
1) It will divide the user install base and screw over the 40m current users
2) It will basically make the current PS4 obsolete and worthless
3) It will make the gen basically cross-gen within itself
4) It will make publishers charge more for games (definitely expecting this 100%)
5) It will make Sony look sneaky because this was obviously part of the plan years ago but never announced anything. It's the same thing as when Microsoft tried to sneak in all that always online, digital stuff with Xbox One. Basically, trying to slide it in at the last possible moment.
I wouldn't have a problem with an upgraded console if it's actually announced and laid out to consumers when a gen actually starts. For example, if Sony was to release PS5 and said that in three years, PS5.5 gets released, I would have no problem with it because it's BEFORE the first version gets released and thus, no one has purchased it yet so there's no install base to screw over.
PC can't be used as an example in this debate for one reason - it's how PC has ALWAYS been and those who are PC gamers know this and accept this. Consoles have ALWAYS been set for the entire gen with slimmer cheaper models down the line...NOT more expensive upgraded models that make the current model obsolete.
Even worse is a simple fact that EVERYONE here is missing and NY has already talked about it.....the new PS4 will NOT support native 4K for games but yet everyone seems to think that it will. If the console isn't going to do what it's meant to do, why even bother in the first place?
The new PS4 is for one reason and one reason only - to give PSVR more power that the current PS4 obviously doesn't have. The problem here is that maybe Sony should have figured this out BEFORE the current PS4 launched. Or better yet, just go all out and release PS5 in 2018.
Have to wait and see how it all plays out but im hoping it all implodes on Sony.
I agree with most of what you said out side of number 4 about the price of games going up. We don't know if price for games would go up or not. The price from xbox 360 and xboxone and also ps3 to ps4 games were all 60. I thought we were going to have games for 70 this gen because from ps2 to ps3 games went from 50 to 60 yet stayed at 60 this gen.Comment

It's great! Used it all day today to watch baseball and the CBB National Championship. Picture was clear 99% of the time. Had it buffer once during the NC, but that was only for a second.
Haven't messed with the DVR option yet, but the live TV works really well.
It'll be interesting to see what the response is from cable and satellite companies, because this is certainly a viable alternative if you have a decent internet connection.Currently Playing:

Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion
Once again, PC can't be used as a comparison or argument. PC games sell LESS, a LOT LESS than on consoles and let's be honest, they're usually accompanied by a crap load of problems that doesn't exist on the console version. Also, the majority of them, if not all aren't on disc. Even in a case, you get a digital download which makes the entire retail version pointless.
Just because the PC can run a game in 4K doesn't mean the game will be in 4K. The game has to be developed with 4K in mind and how many PC gamers out there really run games in 4K or even own games that support 4K and by 4K, I mean native 4K. Not some watered down version.
PS5 would make PS4 obsolete but im looking at it in this regard - you know what they're doing and what their plan is from the BEGINNING, as opposed to three years down the line. Look at now...Sony has said NOTHING. Let's say they don't say anything at E3 which is what im expecting them to do as talking about it kills off the current PS4 in regards to sales for the summer and the fall/holiday season.
With PS5, the CONSUMER (you know, US, those who buy the damn thing) has the choice from the BEGINNING to either buy a launch console or to wait three years for the upgraded version. HUGE DIFFERENCE between KNOWING from the BEGINNING of a console's run compared to halfway down the line which sorry, is ******* bull crap no matter how you look at it. Some consumers wouldn't wait because they want it "now" while others may wait especially since the first two years in are usually cross gen ports and average at best.
Obviously, as one of the 40m users that own a PS4, I DON'T have that OPTION/CHOICE. Instead, I can either spend MORE MONEY on an upgraded console while my current one becomes useless and worthless or I can just stay with what I have and whatever the games are, they are. Luckily for me, im not a visual whore but what happens when there's games I want to play but are exclusive to PS4.5?
Then what? Let's say The Last of Us 2 is a PS4.5 exclusive? I have to purchase another PS4 just to play a game that my CURRENT PS4 should be able to play in the same damn way.
As for PS5, that was an example of doing the upgradable console thing CORRECTLY and WITHOUT screwing ANYONE over in the process. Personally, I think this gen should go at least eight years because when you look at what NAUGHTY DOG has done with Uncharted 4, imagine what The Last of Us 2 will be like and other developers too once they get more used to the console and what it can and can't do as well as the workarounds.
Go back to SNES, it's slow processor speed caused massive slowdown but once the third year hit, you saw less and less until it was basically no more. Reason why is TIME. Developers in time learned how to work around that problem.
Developers can easily do the same thing with PS4 and Xbox One but this isn't about the developers and I don't want to hear them say - "we need more power". Sorry but more power isn't going to make your game play better or eliminate the potential bugs, glitches and freezing problems. When the developers say that, in my head, it's the publishers who are paying their salaries that tell them to say that.
Do some of the developers want more power? Yes but is it necessary? No. It's just to get the publishers what they want the most and that's more money. People complain about the lack of innovation and revolutionary games this gen thus far and I agree 100% but why do people think that has happened? It's not because of the lack of power. It's the simple fact that these games cost tens of millions, if not hundreds of millions of dollars to develop and that doesn't add in the fact of manufacturing, shipping, distribution, as well as paying the developers themselves as well as their studio utilities so when you have all of that cost, up front and with no guarantee that you'll earn it back, you have the same formula being repeated in games regardless of the publisher because it's less expensive to use assets from other games than to create and develop new ones.
The publishers were those who were pushing for all digital with Xbox One as it wasn't just Microsoft who wanted that. It was the publishers telling them that's what they wanted. Sony didn't want to do the same thing yet. But why do you think publishers want that?
It's because of MONEY, plain and simple. NONE of them including Sony and Microsoft give a flying **** about you, me or anyone else. This is why I completely changed my way of thinking in regards to gaming. Gaming isn't a cheap hobby and form of entertainment so I became like them. Want more but pay less. They want you to pay more but get less.
To me, Sony has been screwing up left and right. The consoles updates have been pathetic and I don't even care about them. PlayStation Plus is joke and instead of spending money on PS4.5, they should be taking all that money from the PlayStation Plus subscribers and using that to improve all the servers for PS4. Yeah, I know the store is getting a different look and I have seen it...it's worse. I don't want it going straight to a video. No. No. No. Add in the horrible launch of Vita (which in itself is a shame because it's easily superior to 3DS), PlayStation TV (which I still can't figure out why Sony released this), PlayStation Now which is another joke and then the insane price for PlayStation and PlayStation 2 games.
Sorry but Sony is eventually going to shoot themselves in the foot. They did it already. Microsoft and Nintendo have also done it several times. It's like none of the big three ever ******* learn and after a while, it's like, okay, no thanks...im sick and tired of spending all this extra money on consoles or whatever that will just be worthless a few months later.
And yet, there's consumers that are actually (no offense) stupid enough to want to buy a PS4.5 even though they don't realize that the console won't be able to do what those who are buying it are thinking it will do and that's play games in 4K. Honestly, good luck with that. All I see here is Sony screwing up all their momentum and good will and for what? A slightly more powerful console? Sorry but this isn't a Wii U situation. If anything, it's the complete opposite and why Sony wouldn't want to ride PS4 as long as possible is beyond me simply because it makes no sense whatsoever.
But hey, when this happens, go buy you4 PS42K console because that's pretty much what you're be getting for $400-$500.
One more tidbit - never ever in a history of console gaming has the console INCREASE in price. This would be the very first time that's EVER happened in console gaming which is just one more valid reason why this is an insane ******* idea.
One last tidbit - considering the fact that this was obviously planned out years ago yet Sony never mentioned any of it and still haven't despite it pretty much being real should show and tell everyone how bad of an idea it truly is and the simple fact that they don't give a damn if they rip you off or not.
After all, if they cared about the consumer and thought it was a good idea, they would have talked about it years ago as opposed to not talking about it 2 1/2 years after the PS4 launched.
EDIT: Seeing someone mention HDMI made me remember something else. The new PS4.5 would only be compatible with HDTV's that have HDMI 2.0 so if your HDTV doesn't have this port, sorry but that new PS4.5 console you just bought for $400+ is worthless. And yes, that's actually going to be another requirement.
As for the car or cell phone comparisons. Neither one is valid because that's how they've ALWAYS been not to mention the cell phone comparison is a joke. You can't do half the stuff on a console that you can do on say, an Iphone...not to mention the simple fact that cell phones are small, portable and fit in your pocket. Good luck fitting your PS4.5 in your pocket or carrying it around and even if you did somehow manage to do that, where the hell are you going to plus it in??? LMFAO.
I'm not into the PS4 4k stuff; until TV networks start broadcasting in 4k, Blu Ray start producing in 4k, and it won't cost me over $1K to get a 50", I'll stay put. I feel like this is much further away than the hype is currently selling; I mean, I feel like game devs are still tapping into the full potential of the current system.
Even so, it's not like the hardware is improving AND devs cannot forsake the folks with "old" systems. How will that even work...the same system and one can be in 4k while another 1080p?
I dunno.Last edited by Speedy; 04-05-2016, 01:46 AM.Originally posted by Gibson88Anyone who asked for an ETA is not being Master of their Domain.

Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion
I'm still trying to figure out what all the doom and gloom is about. We honestly don't know a single damn thing. There is not a single bloody fact. The entire last god knows how many pages are all being argued over bloody rumors!
Daniel keeps writing books and going on like everything he is saying and talking about is 100% hard fact, yet it's still nothing but bloody rumors.
How about we actually wait for some actual damn facts before declaring Sony is ****ting on gamers and declaring it the end of console gaming as we know and carrying on about what console gaming is or isn't supposed to be.
And just for the record, referring to the probably 75% of us in this thread who buy games digitally, who buy and play more than one game at a time, who buy season passes or DLC, or who are interested in the PS4.5 repeatedly as morons really kills the chance of us actually taking your claims or messages seriously. Why listen to the ramblings of someone who repeatedly calls me or others a moron just because I do things one way I prefer while you apparently are intent on doing things another way.Comment
