Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion
If you have a 4K tv with HDR then it would be silly to not upgrade unless you are a casual gamer who plays here and there.
You cant see HDR in videos and that is better then 4K
If you want value for your 4k HDR tv then start with a PRO as no other console right now offers something for your TV except the PRO
That being said, HDR isn't worth the upgrade for me when it's not going to be a system that can do anything near true 4K with all the bells and whistles. Not worth it for console games for me personally.
Also, the One S can do HDR so no it's not the only console that offers something for your TV.badComment

Can't comment on seeing HDR in videos but you can see the difference in pictures. I have taken pictures on my cell and sent them to my friend and he saw the difference almost right away. Depends on the quality of the pictures but you can see it. Even on the base PS4 with it's lesser HDR on my 4K TV, I took a picture of the Alienation theme with HDR on and off and you can easily see the difference.
My goodness, im in love with HDR!!! LOL.Comment

Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion
OK, getting close to pulling the trigger on the KS8000. Anyone think the Vizio P Series is a better way to go? I keep going back and forth. For example, Giant Bomb just purchased the Vizio, and I would like to think Drew or someone on staff would have had to choose between the two.
I'm going 65", and this will replace a 65" Panasonic plasma from 2010.

Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion
What can I say? I play on monitors in my office with my gaming PC. Triple monitor setup on a single stand with the console monitor being on the right. All sound from each console goes into my pc sound card via an optical switch. Adds a little thump to the audio and comes out amped. So my setup is pretty decent for my needs. HDR just isn't on my road map as I'm not going to play on a TV and I'm not going to spend the money when HDR monitors come out.
This upgrade was mainly about replacing my console monitor. Since I was getting the pro, figured I'd get a 4k one instead of 1080.Comment

I'm willing to bet none of them had a 4K forget about HDR tv at all and probably games that's aren't pro supported.

Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion
I was playing 2k17 in 4k with hdr and recorded a few minutes of highlights. I went to view them and ewwwww!!! The video looks terrible. Apparently the game capture engine cannot handle the hdr either. Which makes sense. But honestly the difference was jarring. After hdr live gameplay the video capture looked like a bad video game.
This marks one of the first times I can remember that a visual feature of a game really cannot be captured via video, frame grab or even photograph. I mean, photos can kinda see it but I haven't seen any that do it justice.

Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion
FYI. For people on a lean budget but wanting to get into 4k and HDR I bought an LG 50inch from best buy for $399 and it is working great so far. I'm sure it is not as good as the $1600 Samsung and Sony but it really delivers for me. I haven't seen HDR on one the super high end screens but this one is great for the price.
