Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion
Played the PS4 Demo kiosk at the Houston Galleria Sony Store this morning. I took 2-3 pics which I will post later. The guy there was being a bit weird about the pics, so I just focused on playing some of the games. I got about 8-10 minutes worth of time with Knack and about the same with FIFA 14. The systems were running in an enclosed white box on the floor near us and were connected to two 42" Sony TV's on the wall in front of us. They had empty PS4 machines underneath each TV, but once you looked at them, you could see that they were just empty cases. When I looked down through the small port where the controller cords were coming from, I could see some red lights down in the large white case where they were hidden.
Controller - I liked the controller. It had a decent amount of weight to it. It was responsive and comfortable. The small speaker in the controller was noticeable during Knack the most. It would make a jingling sound when you acquired more...knack bits? Knack nubbins? Knackables? The light on mine was blue and wasnt really noticeable unless you flipped the controller up to actual look at the light itself. The circle underneath the regular D-Pad and the circle under the buttons is a huge fingerprint magnet. It was pretty smudgy already and I was the first person to play it that day. Im 6'2" and have larger hands and the controller felt great to me.
Knack - Knack was a lot of fun. I really think that it is a game that you just need to play to see if you like it first. Reminded me a lot of Jak & Daxter as far as the platforming goes. Small fights with 2-4 enemies and then some light platforming. It was a very colorful and bright game. The detail in the environment was very nice. All of the concrete had a good amount of grain to it. It really did look like concrete. The water areas you could see in the background were really nice looking overall. As you found destructible items called Relics, you would grow in size and be better capable of facing the larger mini boss style characters you found every few encounters. It was a lot of fun. Not overly difficult, but a nice looking platformer with some light fighting involved. I had it in my Gamefly queue to rent at launch and while it will probably stay there for me, I will definitely pick it up once it hits $29.99 or $34.99. Or hell, I liked it enough to get it for around $49 at least.
FIFA 14 - I play a lot of FIFA already and have 14 on the PS3. I will just say that it looked A LOT better. It wasnt the "Holy Crap" graphics that the NBA 2K14 demo shows, but it definitely looks better. The demo game was Real Madrid vs. Barcelona with it defaulting to me as Barcelona. The lighting was much improved over the current gen version. There was a lot more depth of color in the players, field and stadium. The crowd was way way more dynamic than Ive seen out of an EA game. I couldnt see repeating people in close proximity to each other. I scored a goal with Neymar and in the replay I could clearly see people in the crowd near the goal celebrating and they looked like the had their own non-repeating celebrations. One guy was shaking both fists in the air and yelling while other people were rushing forward and jumping around. They also were all wearing different articles of clothing and I really didnt see a lot of repetition outside of people wearing Barcelona jerseys. The grass was nice and thick and possibly a bit too thick for a normal field. It was somewhere between soccer pitch and my yard after a week of rain. The players looked good overall. The jerseys and uniforms were great but the players still had the uncanny valley thousand yard stare going on. The sides of the pitch had a lot of activity with different looking photographers, medics with a stretcher and a medical kit, some police whose jackets actually said Policia on the back.
System - As I said, the system was completely hidden. The demo unit was quick and responsive overall. The one next to me froze up when trying to access the demo for Contrast, which I was interested in since its taking DriveClub's place. It went to a screen that asked you to push the PS button to return to the menus but ended up stuck in a loop. I left before they restarted it.
All in all I was impressed. The controller was nice and the two games I got to mess around with looked great and were fun to play overall. I didnt expect much out of FIFA other than it being a prettier FIFA and that was exactly what it was. If you like FIFA you are good to go. Knack definitely moved up on my list and may be a purchase since DriveClub and Watch Dogs have slipped to the Spring. I love Ratchet & Clank and Jak & Daxter and that is definitely what Knack reminded me of. I already have my PS4 paid off, so this was just a nice chance to take a quick month early test drive. Cant wait until November 15th now.Comment

Good PS4/PS3 controller comparison (minus the bad commentary).

Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion
I sell their warranties now at my work. Customers rave about them as they give you no hassle. Best part you can buy them direct, so does not matter where you buy the console from.Comment

Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion
You have 30 days to purchase the warrenty from squaretrade after purchase, so I will be doing that for sure. 3 years for $50, worth the risk.
Worst case, I lose out 50 bucks over 3 years instead of $400.Comment

How do I add the warranty on my Amazon preorder? I wasn't given the option when I first preordered launch edition.Comment

I'm really like what I'm seeing from next-gen Madden so far. Seems like they're finally putting together something worthy of a purchase. I hadn't purchased since M10, but I may give this a hard look depending on how it plays.
2K is probably already collecting interest on my money. Lol!Originally posted by J. ColeFool me one time that's shame on you. Fool me twice can't put the blame on you. Fool me three times, **** the peace sign, load the chopper let it rain on you.

Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion
From what I read, they try to repair the console first within 5 business days and if no luck, they refund you the money of the console to buy a new one.Comment

Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion
Wondering the same thing. I have the PS3 version of Madden, want to upgrade it. Gamestop guy said something about you sending the PS3 version into EA and they in turn give you a gift certificate or something. He may have been talking out the side of his head.Twitter - WTF_OS
