Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion
- Watch Dogs was running on a PC with similar stats to PS4/dev kit hardware they have back in the office. These consoles are PCs for the most part, high end PCs now won't have a problem with most of this stuff.
- No mention of exclusivity with Blizzard and Sony
- Yeah, Nintendo needs to hit some high notes really well with their next round of first party titles. As it is we might be talking WiiU end of life/WiiU2 rumors by 2014.
- First Sony launch without EA and Gran Turismo present, someone in an presser post-mordem said
- Bar has been set incredibly high, MS has a lot of work to do. System will be getting some of these titles we saw tonight too though... likely Diablo 3, Destiny, Watch Dogs and more. What's missing from their rumors is what was missing from the Sony rumors that helped put them all together in a nice package for the presser - their vision. We'll see who the victor is once MS has had their say.Writer for Operation Sports

Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion
Well, what I'm thinking is that the system is going to be black. Sony showing an all black controller kind of hints at an all black system. Also, look at the new design of the controller. I'm thinking the design of the console will follow suit with the controller and the new PS Eye. Console design isn't really a huge thing to myself, just as long as it's sleek and not like the newest slim model lol
What some have said is absolutely correct, it really is inconsequential what it looks like. But for better or worse, and everything in between, it's important to see what it looks like, until then it's still just as metaphysical and cold as a PDF spec sheet.Comment

May I ask your source or are you just trolling? I noticed your last few posts are all pro xbox.Comment

Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion
It was one of the more recent rumors, not trolling. Just remains to be seen how much of what was announced yesterday will require the 'Playstation World' subscription, if anything.Comment

Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion
Yeah, I should have been more clear. Every game I saw tonight looked better than the things I've seen being run on high-end PCs. Obviously, that does not mean a PC wouldn't be able to run these games (when consoles are more or less PC's themselves). It was just exciting because it would appear graphics have taken a bigger jump than a lot of people -- myself included -- expected.
Nonetheless, this system is looking like a launch pickup.Comment

Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion
This, but I absolutely hate these kinds of comparisons... consoles blow a similarly priced PC out of the water, not everyone can drop 2-3 K on a top of the line gaming rig.Bakin' soda, I got bakin' sodaComment

Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion
Well I'm in, but pretty much figured as much even before yesterday. Only a monumental disaster would have turned me off of the PS4. Everything sounds good. I'd gripe about BC but honestly don't care; I plan to keep my PS3 if I ever want to play older games.
I think online services were switching to pay only--at least I remember reading that somewhere. That doesn't bother me since I pay for PS+ currently, and if it means a better experience/reliability, I'd gladly keep paying.
Controller looks funny--I'd like to see some applications of the touchpad. Also no more start/select at all? I'm guessing the "options" button controls all that. "Sharing" means nothing to me. I don't feel the need to broadcast my life over social media all the time.Comment

Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion
Updated remarks about online activation/used game prevention from Ars:
Speaking at a roundtable session with the press attended by Ars Technica, Shuhei Yoshida stated that "when you purchase the disc-based games for PS4, that should work on any hardware." When asked whether games would require online registration, Yoshida noted that that decision was up to the publisher. When asked if Sony, as a publisher, would require games to be registered online, Yoshida said, "we are not talking about that plan."
While Yoshida's statement leaves open the possibility that individual publishers can still block used games at will, it's just as likely he was simply leaving the door open for the kind of "Online Pass" purchase systems that already routinely limit certain online game functions in used copies of games. So while there's still a bit of wiggle room in Sony's public comments, we'd also caution against reading to much into what Yoshida did (or didn't) say.Comment
