$300 to $400 would seem to be a sweet spot/almost to good to be true. I'm expecting the full featured SKUs to be $499 for both next, will be shocked if it is less, especially from Sony due to history and the exchange rate.

A absolute change to the PS3 controller would be a absolute blessing in disguise for me. Hate the layout.

The controller is fine as it is. All it needs is better triggers.

                  New VG24 Rumor: PS4 -1.84 teraflops, 4GB RAM; Xbox 720 - 1.23TF, 8GB RAM

More RAM in one vs. Faster RAM in the other.......should be interesting with these rumors.

Developer sources, speaking after meetings at CES, have told VG247 that the next PlayStation, codenamed Orbis, will have a run-capability of 1.84 teraflops. Conversely, the next Xbox, codenamed Durango, will be able to achieve 1.23 teraflops.

If true, these numbers mean PlayStation 4 will have a 33% raw, computational power advantage over Xbox 720.

While PS4 will have greater grunt that 720, however, the Microsoft machine has significantly more RAM at 8Gb, we’ve been told. Our source said that 3Gb is reserved for the OS, apps and security, leaving 4-5Gb for games.

Orbis will have 4Gb of RAM, said our source, of which 1Gb will be reserved for for OS, security and apps, leaving some 3Gb for games.

Both machines will supposedly have have the ability to read 100Gb Blu-ray discs.

I think Japan has achieved 400GB discs. Is any technology out there currently capable of reading these?

I thought/hoped this would be the next maximum.

If it's still limited to 2x read speed I hope not. One of the bigger reasons for mandatory installs on PS3. Hoping that's optional for both systems next gen.

Interesting with the RAM. You would think despite having a more powerful processor but a complicated RAM setup this generation Sony would have not messed around with the RAM next gen. Guess not... if true.

                          Yeah that RAM rumor sucks.

More but slower ram is what contributes to 360/PS3 ports aren't running add well on Wii U I believe.

This is how I view it. Xbox is going towards more of a true operating system, which will need more ram dedicated to it. I have a feeling Microsoft will put more ram in, but in the end they will be about the same regarding game dedicated ram.

Yeah, $499 sounds more realistic but we'll have to wait and see. From what I've read the real $$$ is made on the games, not the consoles (hence the rumor about not allowing pre-owned games which I doubt will happen but I wouldn't doubt for a second they were giving serious consideration).

Correct me if I'm wrong, but in the end as far as gaming goes it really doesn't make a difference given that games are made for both systems so therefore even if one console has 10X more memory and processing speed gamers won't make much use of it beyond games that are made for that specific console.
