It's something to look forward to, but it'll definitely have issues. For one, I doubt it'll be in HD, and even if you try and stream something now to youtube etc., there is lag. That's what would concern me. I don't know that homes have such high bandwidth to pull this off, not to mention data caps., as others have pointed out.

          Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion

Well, the Playstation 3 did originally have two HDMI ports, three Ethernet ports (!?) and six USB ports when it was announced, lol.

I don't see much of this being a problem for those with bandwidth and whatnot. We'll see if anything changes, more interested in the seemingly inevitable cost of the subscription service that will enable it.

I know this hasn't been mentioned in any of the info, but you could possibly need the game to view someone else playing. That way the full rendering wouldn't have to be uploaded/downloaded. The game could do the rendering just like a multiplier game and just add the chat option on top of that.

That would incredibly hamstring the potential audience. They're partnered with UStream for this endeavor, streaming will be available to everyone. They already record everything it seems since you can pause, clip and upload a video at any time... just a matter of providing that same data stream to a service provider online to distribute it. This same mechanism is probably what powers the Vita streaming.

It would be much more difficult to feed information from a game and have another game display it exactly IMO. All the on-the-fly things that happen would lead to an imprecise or potentially clumsy representation.

All the game recording could potentially curtail some of the blatant cheating and glitching in some of these FPS multiplayer games. Now, I royally suck at these games, so I think everyone's cheating. Lol.

I've always wondered why a game like Madden couldn't just let other Madden users choose to "speculate." You enter a lobby with your friends and just go along for the ride. But what they are doing here seems to be a video-out scenario where the actual console is outputting the stream and not the game itself.

Could you imagine downloading a 4K movie with PSN's awful download speeds now? It wouldn't be fully downloaded until the PS5 comes out.

No you dont need the game to view somebody else playing a game. In fact you can play one game while watching a friend play another game, that's what they said the PS4 press conference the other day if I heard them right. You will probably need the game to take over for a friend playing a game though.

Wow you can watch somebody play live on your smart phone! Man the PS4 is about to ruin some relationships. Your woman barley wants you to play the game at home, now you can have it on the go!

That screenshot might also help answer the question about whether or not the person watching has to have the game that the person streaming is playing.

Looks like they should have quite a few games on launch. I think Sony realized with the Vita how support can really take a toll on sales. If the Vita had more support from devs they would sell a lot of units. The PS4 needs support at launch to sell, like you said.
I hope that Sony has a good lineup to start too.
I think Destiny could be the 'it' game that gets a lot of people to jump in.

I'd like to wait at least a year from launch before I make the plunge, but if they can showcase a mind-blowing IP, I might bite sooner.

I kind of hope that one of these new consoles really jumps out as being significantly better than the other.
I really don't care which one does, all I know is, I don't want to buy both again, haha.

Right now, with the PS4 allowing for used games and possibly being b/c, I'm leaning towards the PS4.

But chances are, both will be solid consoles that have a handful of exclusive titles that will force some to buy both.
