I looked at the list and it had at least 10 things I didn't reserve or even exist for that matter.
I remember Madden and there was another FB game but can't remember the name. Then I seen one called Sesame Stereet (lol!!) and I said "I didn't reserve that".
Then I realized it said "Sesame Street- Abes Odysee" and I said yeah I want that.

After that the total came up and I went to pay and didn't have my CC. I said the wife is bringing it right now and she just left New York so it won't be long...
All the while the line was getting bigger and bigger..

      That's when I woke up.
Ah yes. Just like when we were kids. All over again!

I use wired in my entire house...I hate wireless. Recently rewired my entire house with Cat 6 cables, so I'm looking forward to adding a console to my gigabit network.

I'm not a wireless fan, but I was shocked Sony didn't include a AC wireless network capability with the PS4. N is an upgrade over b/g, but AC will be the standard in a year or so (as soon as the routers drop in price).

I just want a playable baseball game online. Even though the Show has improved over the years, the timing window for hitting is too open, IMO. I hope the PS4s power can help that out.

Actually... for the most part I do on the 360. lol
I switch back and forth but prefer this one due to the adjustible tension sticks.

                Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion

The Nov 13th for PS4 and Nov 27th for X1 would work out great as I'm already off Nov. 13-16th and Nov. 27-30th.

Plenty of vacation to use also so I could throw in a few days in between there and basically have the last half of November off.

I doubt I go that extreme but it's an option I'll have in my pocket.

                    Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion

There's a lot of different factors accounting for the slow download speeds on PSN for the PS3.

The PSN store is slow and runs horribly on the PS3 because it's a hacked together thing that the machine was never really designed to have. PSN was never originally intended to carry Day 1 Digital copies of retail games, either. Coming from XBL it will seem much worse, I'd guess. The fact that it even runs "okay" is kind of amazing.

Downloading (client-side): Earlier PS3s (and maybe later ones) put the WiFi and Bluetooth on the same I/O lines and Bluetooth handles it decently while the WiFi takes a big steaming dump. Trying to connect directly to your router via ethernet should help and see better speeds.

Downloading (server-side): Not all the PSN servers are in the same place and some are slower than others. Pause, wait ten seconds, Resume and see if that doesn't help. This is because pausing and resuming can connect you to a different (and faster) server for you.

Installing: Everything in the system is handicapped by the crypdec chip. Unless there's somewhere around all of the I/O calls being made, not even an SSD will help much; you're stuck at sub-10MB/sec forever. Erasing is faster but still dependent on file size. This is the reason why you shouldn't install stuff while downloading on the PS3, otherwise it will take FOREVER. This will generate all of the I/O calls (and will also send the heads dashing across the disk, eating all its service time in delays). Any non-SSD hard drive will freak over that.

The PS4 is supposed to handle filesystem things more like the Vita does. I know not a lot of people have Vitas in the first place, but if you look at how the PSN Store is on the Vita compared to the PS3, it's much better. It's faster, more organized and better overall. That said, sony's web interface is the best. If you want to buy/download something, do it from the web store and set it to download to your console from there. They're also releasing a mobile app for the PSN store, so hopefully it's just as good (from previews, it looks very similar to the PS Vita version of the store).

These issues are all because the Japanese were kind of slow to embrace online gaming/functionality. It was the European and American divisions that started having more of a say in how Sony operated their online & gaming stuff. They're the ones that really pushed for increased online functionality.

In contrast, Nintendo of America has to phone home to Japan when it wants to do ANYTHING. Marketing, what games get localized, who gets access to what from the gaming press, you name it. It's kinda amazing how restricted NoA is in their ability to influence the company's direction in the US. I understand why they are like this, but it's pretty hard to ignore the fact that SCEA basically helped turn the PS3 around in North America with some very aggressive marketing, and it was SCEA that drove the company towards ensuring games like Uncharted got put together for the system. NoA has nowhere near that level of autonomy allowed to them, and it shows. I'm pretty convinced that there are people in NoA who are VERY AWARE of the shortcomings of the Wii U's online services, but they get to say precisely jack **** about it, and even if they were allowed the input, NCL probably would not listen.

I know the joke here is that "Well, it is a Japanese company", but it's to the point where I'm convinced Nintendo actively goes out of their way to ignore the lessons being learned by the competition and ignore the advice that could potentially come from their branches outside of Japan. It's worked out well for them so far, at least until very recently. Of course, by "working out well" we mean "remaining profitable while their home consoles continued to sell fewer and fewer units than their competition with every hardware generation until the Wii, and fortunate that handheld competition was really only a thing during the time the PSP was Sony's main handheld".

I have also always suspected that Nintendo's higher ups being doubtful on online was because Nintendo tried it before pretty much anyone else with the Famicom and the Super Famicom Satelliview. To Nintendo it was just a novelty for consoles they didn't want to spend much on, ignoring how much people have adopted online play. It's also likely a philosophy thing. Nintendo is one of the only game publishers that still really considers local multiplayer. Videogames used to rule local multiplayer and now things have shied away from it. This has lead to the growth of independent board games, which are selling better now than ever before. This is because online multiplayer and local multiplayer are two completely different beasts.

Example is when you leave the ps3 on while downloading a game after you were doing things on the xmb in background mode and head out for some lunch or something.

When you come back the game that downloaded is sitting on the xmb needing to start the install process. I would rather there just be one process of downloading and installing together without having to be stuck on a screen like the ps3 without the use of the xmb/dashboard area.
I think this is one of the issues that's being addressed with the PS4. For example, if you bought The Last of Us digitally, it comes with a custom installer/downloader that allows you to play before it's completely finished downloading. Because it doesn't need to install separately, it also doesn't require additional disk space that it would normally need (for example, say you had a 1gb game you need 2gb free space because you need space for both the installer and for the game installation itself).

In any case, the one thing that I wish any of the consoles have in the near future is the ability to preload preordered games like how you can with Steam. That way once it's the date of a game's release, you can play once it hits midnight or whenever they set the arbitrary time.

I don't understand why we don't have that already. Not really a benefit when you can't download until midnight and then it takes hours.

and I agree with others, 360 seems a lot better than PS3 as far as downloads, installs etc.. As far as playing online I haven't played many online MP games, so I am not sure how the two compare.

MS has detailed their online plans for Xbone, as far as how many servers they will have running, etc. Has Sony revealed anything about their plans to update their online service for PS4, because it is sorely needed.
