    I shouldn't be saying this...

I wasn't allowed to play video games on weekdays when I lived with my parents during my K-12 school years, so on a Sunday night when I had this intense Interplay Sports Baseball 2000 (PSX) season game going, I had to leave the disc spinning until I could find an opportune time during the week to get in some time to finish. I was able to finish it by Wednesday, but after I turned off the system, the next time I tried to turn it on the laser had trouble reading discs.

    My PlayStation no longer worked.

Upon buying an Xbox, I returned a few games here and there, as well as my PSX console. I said "If they take it, they take it." The guy was about to test it, but all of his outlets in his power strip were taken. He said, "Screw it... it works, right bud?" I just went, "Mmmhmmm." Boom. Ninety bucks.

Bottom line is, they check if they can. This guy didn't bother, and I lucked out. There are exigent circumstances in which they'll just accept the return.

When GameStop had the promo for trading up for the PS slim I had a fat PS3on it's last leg. Heck, broken leg for that matter. It would only play a disc for about 5 minutes then the fan would kick into jet mode and the PS would then freeze up about 15 minutes after that sometimes it would stray on but it was so loud it was miserable to play anything.

Anyway, I took it in to trade it and they hooked it up, put a game in, went through the menus, went back to XMB to delete everything (which I had already done), unhooked it and gave me my credit. Thankfully they didn't leave it on too long.

That was my case with the 360...if they left it on half an hour it'd die, but they don't check more than 1-3 minutes.

Just a heads up but the author of that article clarified and when he said launch window he meant launch window of that game, not the launch window of the PS4 or Xbox One. Here is a direct copy and paste of that clarification.....

The current-gen version of the game has to be purchased in the initial 30 days of the game launch, not within 30 days of the PS4/XB1 launch. From there, customers have until the end of 2013 to redeem it for credit toward the next-gen version. Sorry if that was unclear – when I write "initial launch," in that case I'm referring to the launch of the games themselves.

On gamestops website its saying its the last day to pre order a PS4. Just a heads up for anyone on the fence.
It’s easier to do the right thing, than to explain why you didn’t.

Cool. I went to the GameStop store today and they did verify this. Basically $10 to upgrade to next gen version. Sounds good to me!

Yeah, here is a link to their page although it only mentions Xbox and not PS3 but I assume its for both...

                  http://www.gamestop.com/nextgenoffer

Looking at it maybe it is only for Xbox 360 games, wouldnt make a ton of sense but there is zero mention of it working for PS3 games.

I feel the same way as you guys, I just put about $5,000 into my MartinLogan sound system, a decent investment, and I would like to do the same without zone 2.
Yes, they are the reference series, I've got about $4,000 in my den surround sound. So yeah...not going to "play music from my PC" if the PS4 doesn't have this option...LOL

If it doesn't have the option to stream music while in-game this then I'll buy the Xbox One first and PS4 later on...Yes it's that important to me!!

Heck yeah man! That is an awesome line of speakers! How does games sound like on it? I just order the MartinLogan Motion 40s, Motion 30, and FX surrounds for myself, and they seem pretty comparable. I'm pumped to hear them in my own place finally.

PlayStation Brings on Rackspace Talent to Help With “OpenStack Private Cloud Deployment”

The ‘power of the cloud’ has been quoted numerous times by both Microsoft and Sony as we get closer to the launch of the Xbox One and PS4. Much of the debate has focused on Microsoft’s assertion that the cloud will make the Xbox One noticeably more powerful, but many have disputed it, while Sony has said that it is possible, but limited. Meanwhile, other important cloud features include Microsoft’s cheap dedicated servers for developers – which we want on PS4 – cloud saves, and, of course, Sony’s Gaikai cloud game streaming.

So, as you can see, ‘the cloud’ will be very important next gen, which is why today’s news that PSLS has uncovered is so interesting.
OpenStack is a cloud computing project to “provide an infrastructure as a service”, jointly created by Rackspace and NASA, with it’s website saying:

OpenStack is a global collaboration of developers and cloud computing technologists producing the ubiquitous open source cloud computing platform for public and private clouds. The project aims to deliver solutions for all types of clouds by being simple to implement, massively scalable, and feature rich.

I bought a PS3 that was doing just that for about $50 and fixed it. Still going strong 4 months later. So, don't feel too bad, I'm sure GS could fix the console as well.
