I think this year the focus will be more on expanding the stuff they couldn't due because they ran out of RAM. Full High-A teams, much more equipment choices, rather than a full engine rewrite. I feel that's too big a task for '14 maybe '15 if we're lucky.

Gotcha. Just wondering. I know that they were getting frustrated by some of the engines and their age/limitations, just not easy to do all of them in one year I know.

I can't imagine the time it's going to take to rewrite an entire engine. Depending on the manpower dedicated to the task and their starting point (For all we know that could have been 2 years ago) it could be many versions away before the game really feels "next gen." Supposedly the Killzone Devs have been working on their tech since 2011, maybe SCEA did so to and is hiding that fact from us and we'll know in a few months.

I wouldn't be surprised. It's the same team that worked on lighting and upgraded player models for years before releasing them to the public.

They aren't afraid to invest time on something that won't see the light of day for a few years.

Considering they are a Sony in-house company, it would only make logical sense they knew the specs (or had a semblance of it) for a couple years and went to work.

Oh, I totally understand...just have read the devs talk about how they're limited to fix some issues.

If anyone had the tech early and was able to work on it you would think SCEA would be one of them.

Which next gen launch sports title are you guys most eager to see gameplay of ?

2k no doubt. I'm hoping for better physics, foot planting etc. 2k is holding something big for next gen I can feel it.

As launch comes nearer I'm getting really excited about the PS4.

I'm almost 50, but when that box comes from Amazon I'll be ripping it open like a 5 year old on Christmas morning.

Had it, FIFA, Battlefield and Killzone pre-ordered. Will be cancelling the Madden and FIFA pre-order, Madden because I have current gen and can do the upgrade if Madden turns out to be an improvement over current gen. I played current gen Madden for 2 days and havent picked it up since and am fearful after seeing nothing out of them since the initial tech demo.

FIFA I am cancelling after seeing the latest off screen videos. Game does not look anything like the earlier tech demos and looks like a graphically cleaned up version of current gen, which still plays way too arcady.

Probably going to just roll over my pre-orders into Black Flag. After seeing the tech demos on the water and lighting that game just looks amazing. I usually find AC games repetetive after a couple hours so who knows how that one will play out but at least it will be pretty to look at.

All that may change when GTA V online releases next month. May make Next Gen expendable in which case I'll probably only pick up Battlefield on PS4 and alternate between the two.

Go to your ps4 order details, there should be an option somewhere that says something to the tune of, "Apply gift card"

Ive been putting $25 a week on my Amazon order. Only got a little over $200 left on my console and a extra controller. That will be paid off within 2-3 weeks when I get my retail bonus from work. Then its paying off my games. Would be paid off now had I started doing it from when I first ordered.
