It's silly to buy a whole new ps4 for only 500g anyways when it's so easy to upgrade. But ppl tend to be too afraid to do the upgrade even though it's quite easy

Some people are experiencing some of the problems mentioned here. Consoles lagging, freezing, shutting down, apps/games closing themselves... All the problems started after the last update.

Well only lasted a few games as now experiencing lag again

Not even close. If I remember right you have to pry off a little hard drive cover, unscrew one screw, slide out a tray, swap hard drives and reverse those steps

2015 and Sony still didn't learn how to release reliable firmwares...

I'm not suprised by the fact that people created a petition for Sony to improve the PSN. Their service is ridiculous, sometimes on the PS3 i feel like my Dreamcast was something more advanced than this...

PS4 runs a speed cap, I'm pretty certain its been discussed before.

For instance my home internet is fantastic with 100 down 50 speed speeds. On PS4 hard lined OR wireless I get the same speeds of around 15 down 5 up. I've done everything from completely by passing router and going DMZ, to port forwarding, to alt DNS, yadda yadda yadda. I've done the gamut of fixes and guess what it does nothing. This is not a user issue but a PSN issue.

Let me reword this to be better understood.

Their download servers may just have too much load.

Those speed estimates are only as fast as the server doing the test. When I'm downloading something, I'll occasionally get my full speeds, but most of the time I won't.

You can use the server browser built into the PS4 to clearly see the limit lies with PSN. Go to speedtest.net on your hardlined PC and run a speed test.

Mine comes up around these speeds.


Now turn on your PS4, open up the web browser and go to speedtest.net webpage or another 3rd party speed test to run test through the PS4. You will "most likely" get much higher speeds than what the "PS4" is stating is your speeds.

I get speeds like this (I'm on work pc so just using this as example of speed difference I see between PSN vs 3rd party).


The reason for this, the PS4 system "speed test" runs through the PSN service which houses the limiter.

Google Playstation 4 speed cap and you will find topic after topic. There is one somewhere with a Sony employee admitting there is a limiter in place.
