Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion
Oh, then it will definitely help. Especially for WiFi if it is a 5G modem/router (which I believe you can get, since I have Broighthouse which uses Echo, and they are now being combined with Charter in a merger, so hopefully it comes soon to Charter users).
However, if you continue to have issues, and cannot wire the PS4 (recommended), then there is a link to help with the PS4 wireless, since it's WiFi antenna is only 2.4G, but the new modem/router will definitely help the bridge if it is a 5G one.
http://whatisplaystation4.com/how-to...-wi-fi-signal/
At home I have Comcast 75mbps with speed boost. I had a 4-5 year old Linksys with 2.4ghz signal (E1200). Ranges subject to normal fluctuation on usage, time of day, etc.
-Hard wired, 70-90mbps
-Hard wired through powerline adapters 35-80mbps (additional variance due to circuit breaker location)
-Wireless 12-20mbps
Monday I got a new higher end router, Best buy has a $20 discount for gamers club: http://www.bestbuy.com/site/promo/my...k-offer-co3840
With this router...
-Hard wired and through powerline adapters are about the same.
-2.4ghz band is upped to about 45mbps. Range is about twice as far as on the old router.
-5ghz band has a decreased range of course, but on this router it has about the same range as the 2.4 on my old router. And the speeds? 70-90mbps. It ended up being faster than the powerline adapters in 3 of 4 locations.
However one thing to note because of the thread this is in, the PS4 can't use the 5ghz band. It can only connect to 2.4ghz which in case 5ghz would only benefit you if you have other devices to use it. But typically if you have a simultaneous dual band router you will use the 5ghz for gaming or streaming devices, where other stuff like tablets and phones you will typically just use the 2.4ghz band. (Edit - this was mentioned in the previous post, i didn't see it)Last edited by joet6683; 06-03-2016, 03:44 PM.Comment

Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion
Exactly. I was floored seeing my Android phone constantly hit 60mbit through 5G WiFi, where as before on my older router it would average 18-20mbit.
I am a believer, lol. And years I lived with subpar on the phones and tablets, since my PC and consoles were always hard wired. More than happy with the WiFi now in the 5G.

Sorry fellas the above posts are not clicking with me.
Will I no longer have the pausing with the new 60 mbps internet? All my devices will be connected via WIFI.

Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion
I have my main living room PS4 hardwired so the Vue(ing) experience is flawless in there. That said, when watching via Firestick or iPad, etc., off wifi, I've had zero issues. Funny enough, the iOS app actually loads much quicker than the PS4 app does.Comment

Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion
As i was talking about before - same internet, only a new router. speeds on my phone went from about 14ish to 50ish on the 2.4ghz band alone. And I get 90ish on the new 5ghz band.Comment

Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion
It still is possible, though not as likely. Depending on the band, strength of wireless signal, number of devices doing "stuff" on wifi at once, overall network usage for the cable company as a whole, you could potentially still see slower speeds, possibly as low as 10mbps. Having a good router will be the number one thing to combat slow wireless speeds, at least from my experience.

Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion
I think my PS4 may have finally died. I've had it turn off and not turn back on for some time on two or three different occasions, but this time it isn't looking like it's going to turn back on. The last couple of times the fix was just having the HDMI cable unplugged and it would start up, now that doesn't work.
I'll open it up tomorrow, clean it out real well and hope that fixes it.
Update
The power supply died on me. Got a new one arriving Tuesday.Last edited by canes21; 06-05-2016, 12:11 AM.“No one is more hated than he who speaks the truth.”

How do you delay with no original date?

Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion
Because Shu kept saying 2016. Definitely disappointed that the game was delayed to 2017 but once Gran Turismo Sport was given it's release date, it was all but announced that Horizon was getting delayed.
Still looking forward to the game and in a way, it's a smart move as there's no point in debuting a new IP in the Fall when it could get lost in the shuffle. Watched the three minute video and it looks great and very interesting. I get a lot of Enslaved vibes from it which is fine by me. Hoping they still show a long gameplay video at E3.Comment

Still cannot delay without an official date, regardless who says what. Otherwise it is just 'targeting'. I know semantics and all.
'Pushed Back' would be the proper, and Joystiq Twitter was the only one to use the proper terminology in a sea of semantical interpretations.Ⓥ Boston Red Sox | Miami DolphinsComment
