Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion
Paragon is awesome. I've been playing it since the early access for the founders pack started, for a free to play game it's a very solid MOBA. Am hoping more OSers get into it"Successful people do not celebrate in the adversity or misfortune of others."

Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion
I used Rebuild Database all the time with my other mechanical drives in my PS4 but since switching to SSD I don't know if I should still do it or not since I know PC they say to never defrag SSDs
Anyone have input on this?"Successful people do not celebrate in the adversity or misfortune of others."

Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion
One thing I haven't been able to figure out is if it is safe to do this with a SSD in the system.

I believe it is more like a file management and cache wipe (like on Android when wiping the cache partition fixes a lot of app issues if the system cache gets corruptions or starts acting wonky). So it should be fine with an SSD in that regards. Especially if you run into hitchy applications that decided to crop up, as well as errors.Last edited by EnigmaNemesis; 07-17-2016, 01:46 PM.Ⓥ Boston Red Sox | Miami DolphinsComment

Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion
I would assume PS4 uses some variation of UFS since it's OS is based on BSD, UFS has a process where as writes are done to the disk it is defragged at the same time, which sounds like what the Dev was describing.
I'm going to assume the database is literally just a database of files and their associated programs, rebuilding it literally rebuilds it so that old files that were deleted are no longer in the database and all files associated with each program are put together in the database, so it cleans up the database that can cause file location delays and cause issues that way.Comment

Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion
Defraging a SSD drive won't make it just stop working immediately. They only have so many writes in their lifetime so by defraging you decrease its life by one full write cycle. Not a huge deal but if constantly done it could effect it's lifespan.Oakland Athletics San Jose Sharks

Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion
I guess, realistically, how long will they leave between an announcement and actual release? I'm trying to figure out when we reach the "point of no return" for a release this year, if that makes sense."Successful people do not celebrate in the adversity or misfortune of others."
