Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion
Also do not worry as GameStop will offer trade ins but the value is subjective as some might want most of it covered which wont be the case
Right now at gamestop you get 200 for the ps4 and if that stays on a 450 console you cant ask for much more
PS4 has kept a good value and I feel you might get 250 on 450 consoleComment

Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion
Comparing NEO to the base PS4, it is a minimal upgrade. It's not as good as some think it is. People who know far more than I do said that based on the leaked specs, it's no guarantee that games hit 1080P/60FPS let alone anything better. The 4K stuff isn't for games at all. It's for all the video content. Personally, I think both companies are pushing for 4K too soon. They should wait to it really builds a user base of gamers so they can properly take advantage of it all.
For NEO at the rumored leaked specs (which if it releases this year, I think those specs are accurate) turn out to be true, I would say that you'll get 1080P/locked 30FPS on a consistent basis. Only developers who could do better would be the first party studios.
While frame rate is more important than resolution, I actually have a bigger concern than both - all the "pop-in"/"pop-up" that's in virtually every single game regardless of the console, publisher and developer. It's beyond annoying especially when it can be a lot at times. Granted, optimization comes into play but to see this in virtually every single game is ridiculous in my opinion. Really hope the upgraded consoles eliminate as much of this as possible.
Scorpio will blow away NEO based on all the current specs and yeah, it will be able to run games in 4K but you'll still be able to play them on current HDTV. Games will be like the games for PS4 once NEO gets released in which there's two modes and which gets selected will be based on the console you own - Scorpio or slim/base.
I see $450 for NEO as too high. $400 should be the maximum. The console was $400 three years ago and consoles are supposed to decrease in price and despite the disc drive, it shouldn't go past $400 while the base should go down to $300.
Scorpio should probably be $500 or more based on the specs but I see Microsoft taking the loss on the console. Microsoft isn't Nintendo. They want to be number one. They want to dominate. And if it means losing money to do so, that's what they will do. Besides, I think Scorpio being about 15 months away will allow them to release the console at $400.
Think about it...if NEO comes out later this year at $400 and Scorpio comes out a year later for $400 but blows away NEO spec wise, let's be honest, NEO will look obsolete in comparison. That's another reason why I think that Microsoft would take a loss on the console. Wouldn't be the first time and sure as hell wouldn't be the last time.
As for trade in deals, Microsoft has already said that they will be working with retailers for trade in deals towards Scorpio but no one knows how good those deals will be. I don't see Sony doing any kind of trade in deals. I do see GameStop doing trade in/trade up deals but I think that's way more GameStop than Sony and/or Microsoft.
Really hoping for trade in deal for the base Xbox One towards the 500GB slim. That will make me happy.
As for NEO and Scorpio, right now my interest is 5% and 0% respectively. I'll wait for Digital Foundry to do comparison videos especially for NEO if it launches this year with the leaked specs. If the difference is minimal, I'll just stay with my base PS4.
Scorpio's interest is zero because PS4 is my primary for multi-platform games and after State of Decay 2, I don't have a single exclusive for the console so for me personally, Scorpio isn't of any interest to me.
Just have to wait and see what happens. I still don't like any of it at all but the bigger issue is will Sony release NEO and PSVR at the same time? To me, that's very risky.
As for NX, I'll be surprised if it even matches the base Xbox One in terms of specs and power. I truly see another gimmick based console. As of right now, there's a better chance of me buying the rumored SNES Classic console than NX. LOL.Comment

.
The leaked specs, comparing them to what I have personal experience with having upgraded and built three different PCs over the last 6 years, comparing the rumored power of the NEO to how it compares to PCs I have gamed on, should be absolutely capable of 1080p and 60fps, the question will be the bells and whistles. Will it be equivalent to ultra settings? Hybrid ultra/high/, ultra/high/medium, etc. Probably will see all play out in different games from different devs. In either case there should be potentially significantly improved experiences on NEO compared to stock ps4. Definitely not a "minimal upgrade."
I honestly don't think you know as much as you think you know. But that's just my opinion.Last edited by The JareBear; 07-22-2016, 05:53 PM."Successful people do not celebrate in the adversity or misfortune of others."

I couldn't disagree with you more. In fact I think youre dead wrong. Could you post links to where these experts have said these things, as you claim they have?

Once NEO gets released, I'll just wait for the Digital Foundry comparison videos for the games running on the base PS4 and NEO. Based on what I have read, I just don't think that NEO will be as big of an upgrade as people think it's going to be. We just have to wait and see.Comment

Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion
Yeah I guess the more I think about it, maybe the Scorpio does launch for 500 or less.
If the power difference between NEO and Scorpio is as rumored, which again I have no idea what is gonna end up happening, but if the RUMORED specs are true, the Scorpio is obviously pretty significantly more powerful than NEO and in that case I would have to think Sony keeps it 75-100 dollars less than whatever the Scorpio is.
For the record I know nothing about business, merchandising, etc. I am just guessing as a guy who loves to spend money on cool stuff, lol. I could be way off
In all fairness I'd be willing to pay $600 for Scorpio given the specs it will have. It's going to be a powerful console, but I don't expect others to feel the same. I tend to always want the latest tech stuff so it's different with me. I remember paying $600 for the PS3 when it first came out. I bought 2 consoles and sold one on eBay for $1200.

Either way, should be great times ahead for us gamers!
Just my opinion, of course. For me, what I look for, I just don't see a downside right now."Successful people do not celebrate in the adversity or misfortune of others."

Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion
Now that I'm on the 4K wagon, I'll almost certainly go with the Neo when it's released. I love my PS4 and want this gen to last as long as possible. If a mid-cycle update pushes the PS5 out a bit, I'm all for it, even though I realize the Neo may have zero affect on a PS5.Comment

Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion
An opinion is one thing, we all have them, but the amount of nonsense I hear spewed from behind the counters at GameStops is laughable. That information certainly shouldn't be relayed on here as hard truth.Last edited by DickDalewood; 07-22-2016, 06:55 PM.Comment
