I hear you and that is why I think Sony should have really just wanted in till ps5 to do any of this 4k HDR stuff. I think most games on pro will be upscaled checker boarding stuff and I think in a few years or so when ps5 comes out then we will get full 4k HDR on most games. Me I want a 4k TV because I have had the same TV since 07 and it is only a 720p that upscale to 1080p 37 inch TV. So if I upgraded the jump would be bigger for me then other people because I don't have a full 1080p TV even. Not only would I be going from a 720p to 4k TV but I also want a bigger TV any way. I think I would rather buy a 4k TV now and be set for the years like 5 years or so for when ps5 comes out and for when 4K bluray's get cheaper and 4k bluray players get cheaper rather then spending like 500 now and then having to upgrade and spend another like 1000 or so in a few years for a 4k TV.

Sony really messed up not having a 4k player in this thing to. Think about this a lot of 4k players are 300 right now. With the pro costing 400 even if you only get say 120 trade in for the pro that means it would be costing you about 280+ tax to upgrade and that is around the same has a standard 4k player. Heck if this thing had a 2 TB hard drive and a 4k player it would be hard for me to not upgrade. let me put it this way if you only get that 120 trade in that best buy is doing that would mean 280 to upgrade to a more powerful system and with a bigger hard drive and 4k player. Then with the 2TB hard drive costing around 90 that would save me having to buy that. So know you are talking about only about 190 to upgrade and even if you want for a 4k player to drop in price it would still cost you like 100. So now you would be talking about only spending like at most 90 more to upgrade compared to if you didn't upgrade and just bought a 2 TB hard drive and 4k player by its self. For at most spending only 90 why would I not upgrade?

I've seen this a lot over on NeoGAF. Like, bad

I feel like I never see anyone criticize anybody for not wanting to buy a Pro. Wonder why that doesn't work both ways.

My only guess is that people are mad that some people are going to get the pro because they don't like the idea of mid gen upgrades and believe that the better the pro sales the more likely it is that we are going to have mid gen upgrades going forward like a ps5 pro or something.

Should I deactivate my original PS4 as my Primary before I get the Pro?

Ask Sony and MS if that is true!!!!!! If someone does not want to spend the money or move on to that level tht is more then fine. But years to come? 4K has arrived and hdr as well...If it was something important years from now there will be no PRO OR SCORPIO announced

4K and HDR has arrived but it will be at least a year or two before it really starts to show in every game. HDR isn't in every game that's been updated for PRO as it's mainly all about the resolution now. Once developers fully implement HDR and the WCG (wide color gamut) is when we'll truly see the benefits of 4K and HDR.

Not only that but I think only like 10% of people even have a 4k TV right now.

I would deactivate it. If you are going to be trading it in towards the pro then definitely deactivate it. If you are going to keep the original ps4 on top of the pro, then I would make the pro primary assuming the pro will be your go to ps4. You can still sign into your ps4 using your psn account and play games (digital) you bought under your account.

If you only buy physical games then it doesn't matter if you activate your ps4 as primary

I think that is a very very high estimate. Wouldn't be surprised if it was less than half of that.

It really shouldn't be this big of a deal. Lol. Everyone's an adult here capable of choosing how they want to offload their ****.

I'm just telling people an option they may not have thought of. I have told people I am friends with before and they exclaim they wished they had thought to do it that way but they never thought of it.

Personally I just think, that unless you get really lucky and find a rare deal that trading in anything, to Gamestop is putting convenience way too high over your wallet but to each his or her own.

Keep in mind that the backlight should be maxed at 20 for our Samsungs and color space on native according to rtings.

While that may be true, I'm not hoping that HDR makes my hypothetical 4K set more colorful, but rather that it provides it with more colors. Big difference between the two.

I am not sure I have heard about how many people have a 4k tv and what % of people who are believed will have one by the end of next year and I thought I heard 10% had one now but that could be wrong.

GameStop would be my last option ever. The crackhead prices they offer for your stuff is straight criminal to me. I rather sell on Craigslist or eBay.

What I'm saying is 100% true. HDR automatically dims the picture so according to the tv calibrators (rtings, CNET) the back light has to be maxed at least for the samsung 4K HDR tvs. This isn't the brightness settings. And yes, like you I hate a overly saturated colorful picture. Raising the backlight allows the wide color spectrum to be displayed.
