Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion
This is not in any way intended to start a console war, I have both and love them both. I just wonder if Sony should have gone the route Microsoft took and taken more time with the Pro. Everything just screams rush job and half-baked. Even if they waited until next Spring or Summer, it would have given developers more time to learn the capabilities and get on board.
I'm still excited for it personally but it seems there's a collective meh when it could have been hell yeah!

I think yea, but I also think if I'm Sony I put out this call it I guess PS4.5 that does everything the vanilla PS4 does with no alienation of that base while also being able to not give up ground to the competition in regards to grabbing that segment of the consumer that is buying 4K tv's with HDR, that way they keep the record sales momentum moving forward while not having to play catch up a year + from now when they would then be putting out their first 4K HDR capable system
In contrast Microsoft was behind from a stumbled start, they had way less to lose by putting out the XB1 s and snatching a strong initial hold in that segment while also not sacrificing its vanilla installed base, then put out a true step up system "Scorpio" a year or so from now, which if Sony didn't make a move with the pro would have been a huge hill to climb with Microsoft already tapped into that 4K space all alone
In the end I think they both now use this stage as a gauge to see where next systems head, how much they really need to put into them, what gamers are really willing to trend towards and ease Devs especially the smaller ones into the 4K space and not drag them in unprepared later on
Just my 2 cents

I know some of you are thinking, why not just get out build a PC... Reality is I just wanna plug the darn thing in and have it work with minimal effort. I'm a constant tinkerer and chaser of the proverbial "holy grail" when it comes to tech. I'd go broke if I had a PC lol.

Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion
Well said, I only disagree with the timing of it all. Bigger picture, and I may be in the minority here, but I hope this is the start of a refresh every 3-4 years where it's still the same platform but with beefed up specs.
