 Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion

Forget videos. I've never been a PC gamer but I can tell the difference between frame rates. I played NCAA Football on PS3 when it was running 30 fps and tried the 360 version at 60 fps. You could definitely see and feel a smoother difference. Doesn't make 30 fps bad but 60 is definitely nicer and noticeable to me.

The UC remastered series was buttery smooth on PS4 while the Tomb Raider remaster was weak. I'm not even sure that maintained 30 fps. 60 is something I can notice and it's sweet (not saying 30 is unplayable at all) and my eyes are 44 lol. I'm playing Rise of the Tomb Raider right now on PS4 and I can tell it's not 60. Still looks good but it's not buttery smooth.Comment

 This thread is funny.

But IMO. What I've seen and heard from people I know/respect. If you don't have a 4K TV there's little reasons to get a PS Pro. Many "enhancements" people are seeing are placebos that everyone is trying to justify their purchase. Which we all do and is certainly okay to do.

Just be happy with your purchase. If it looks better to you and your happy, who cares what someone else thinks. Enjoy the new hardware and games. Life is short.

Yeah the uncapped mode on Pro is awesome for this. Its not constant 60 by any stretch but the boost feels so great and responsiveForget videos. Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion

I just flipped Chrome and watched in the 1080p60 and honestly still don't notice a difference. Like I said, I guess I'm just not sensitive to it, or need better contacts.@CB and Smallville:

If you have the 60 FPS quality option in youtube, it'll look like this:

If those top two aren't showing up, make sure your browser is updated or just use Chrome - I know it works in there.

To others - apologies for taking this so far off track. But since improved frame rate is one of the Pro's selling points, I think it's important that everyone understands. I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see. I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

Good to know that you don't respect me. So everything I see is placebo? Justifying my purchase? I have pointed out a number of shortcomings since getting my system. Some games (like CoD:IW) don't show improvements at all on 1080p. I'm not looking at it with "this has to be awesome or else" glasses. That'scrap. I've been entirely honest and truthful with my impressions thus far and will remain that way. Frankly I find your post insulting. This thread is funny.

I haven't said anything about how games look or don't look on 4k displays because I don't have a 4k display so I don't know. The other poster doesn't play the Pro on a 1080p display but is trying to tell people what to think based on hearsay. That's crap. Straight BS.

 Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion

I stated various times I have a 4K and 1080p tv in the house. I played it on both and my opinion stands. I never said there was nothing there for 1080p owners. I said in my opinion is not worth it and backed it up with plenty of media reviews saying the same. We can agree to disagree but I hope you are getting your moneys worth and if you are then am happy. Now lets move on and just talk gaming.Good to know that you don't respect me. So everything I see is placebo? Justifying my purchase? Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion

I also find it odd that some people who have been against the idea of the Pro since the first NEO leaks only post to comment on negative articles or just write negative posts despite an oustanding amount of positive impressions from a number of posters here on OS and around the web, especially from people with 4k displays. Some people see what they want see. Someone can tell me I want to see the Pro look great on 1080p, but if thats fair then its also fair for me to fire back and other people want to see no improvements from the Pro so they can justify NOT purchasing it. It works both ways, and either way its unfair to everyone involved.

If this is my hill to die on, so be it. I don't belong in this community anyways, but I won't have someone tell me that what I claim to believe is disingenuous

If I felt the PS4 Pro sucked at 1080p I would have said "this sucks for 1080p displays. Don't buy it unless you currently own 4k or will own soon." I wanted NMS to be the best game ever, I wanted Division to be my game of year. I hyped those games pre-release and faced the music when reality struck.

Play TF2 on a vanilla PS4 and then play it on the Pro. I will wait.Last edited by The JareBear; 11-11-2016, 03:40 PM."Successful people do not celebrate in the adversity or misfortune of others."

 Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion

I believe that means the following

Cold Cache means not played often so the memory is not stored in the flash drive the Hybrid has. In theory this will be slower then playing it often as the Hybrid drive loads the apps you most often use

Hot Cache means using that game app often. In theory it will or should load fasterComment

 Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion

Makes sense. That was a drastic difference between the cold and hot and disappointingly not much difference between the SSD and the SSHD with a hot cache. I don't know how JareBear feels, but I might just stick with my 2TB 5400rpm hard drive, especially since I flip between games often and will go weeks without playing one at times. The space is more valuable to me than a few seconds.I believe that means the following

Just the silly arguing. Everyone has their opinions. You think it looks better but the truth is you have nothing to compare it to in your house right now. But either way. I wasn't even talking about you. Stop being so insecure.

 Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion

That's not fair, or accurate at all. That's just agenda pushing, something you're accusing other people of doing. There are differences. There are reviews highlighting differences. However, their worth/value is purely on the individual.

Let's also keep in mind that we're comparing the games that support it right now. Those games are also existing games that may not have had a lot of effort dumped into them.

There will be other games coming out and we'll see how good they look. The list isn't static.Last edited by sbauer318; 11-11-2016, 03:43 PM.Comment
