Yep. Don't own a 4K tv and have no reason to own one anyway. Once broadcasts are in 4K I'll upgrade. Until then I don't see the point. Add to that, yet to see one single reason to get a Pro. It's louder, games have had tons of issues on it compared to the base PS4 and frankly, I think it's ugly, at least compared to the Slim. I really don't like that light across the front at all. Take all that and when it's close to $200 more with current deals, I'm very satisfied going with the Slim.

Got it , I'm about to purchase only ps4 and I think in going for the slim myself for this bedroom, I need the show .

The Show does not look improved visually from 16.

I am extremely disappointment with the amount of lax that was shown at the 2016 trailer.

If the reg version can not look any better than using "the pro" so that you get a better looking game is their "gimmick" then i could care less about it.

The game needs a major graphic overhaul. NOT stadium wise but player wise and gameplay mechanics. games like PRO YakYUU Spirits should be looked at as inspration to making their game better.

The player models all still have short arms and legs

That doesn't really have anything to do with the Pro. You just don't like The Show.

I'll be honest, i wasn't too impressed with Mlb the show on the PS4 graphically speaking. On the ps3 it was one of the best looking sports games, but not on the PS4. I'm hoping the pro version will be a nice jump. The player models are the same since its beginnings.

Well it kinda does. what i should have said is this

is that they "drop" the fidility of the reg ps4 game only to "have it" on the pro...


As in. They make the game with the same graphics and engine in mind from last year and then just up rez it and get it hdr ready for ps4 pro when they could easily do that with reg ps4 and then REALLY expand it with the pro in mind.


If i see that the ps4 version has volumertirc lighting etc Ill laugh cuz no amount of lighting can fix the games visuals anymore. its time they fix the other things now

Do i like the show?

I thought that mlb 16 was the best one that ever came out.

when you see a yearly visual upgrade be something like "lighting reflecting off textures correctly" you kinda start losing interest cuz thats what they did last year.

MLB the show on ps3 was always a a system seller on ps4 even at the start or even the second yr in i was expecting a majot overhaul.

we didnt get that

srsly im tired of what little there is thats new in mlb the show year after year on ps4

Eb Games in Canada is doing a very good promotion. You can swap your old PS4 for a new Slim model with a disc copy of Uncharted 4 plus another game of your choice (7 including NBA 2k, watch dogs 2, etc) at a cost of only $99. The thought of trading in an old model for a quiet new one at such a low price is very tempting. I could sell those games and have it only cost me about $30. But I hate the loss of optical output and I'd rather not go through the hassle of backing up my hard drive and re downloading all these games if they do something similar with the Pro in February with Horizon Zero Dawn. Promo runs this week only.

My PS4 is second generation 1100 series. The Slim is 4th gen already (1000,1100,1200 and now 2000 I think). My current PS4 isn't loud imo and has given me no trouble. It's a tempting offer but with my surround sound I hate losing the optical cable.

I'm not tired of visuals not improving as much as I am tired of some visual things seeming "off" for me, whether it's certain camera angles, color schemes, player proportions, etc.

I am however happy about animated uniform cloth this year.

Agree last gen mlb had by far the best graphics of any sports game out there and now it is way behind NBA 2k and NHL and I have heard people talk about how you have more players in a baseball game then a basketball game or something but that didn't keep them from having the best looking game last gen and Madden looks even a little better then the show and with football you have 22 players at a time playing compared to having 10 in baseball with the 9 guys in the field and the one who is trying to hit.

I'm really hoping this stuff is fixed at leas on the pro. I've given up on player models this year. Doesn't look like its gonna happen, and doesn't seem to be a priority to them. Which is disappointing. The way other sports games look at this point, the show clearly lags behind.

I don't think they'll ever fix the player models. Players will remain with the T-Rex arms forever it seems. I remember being wowed graphically on the PS3, but like you I agree now it's way behind all the other sports games. There's also no reason why this game shouldn't be 60 fps at all times during gameplay. Sadly, the devs will show some "new lighting" and people will go nuts over it and forget about everything else.

I saw that pic, but it's a bad comparison for color. The two photos are different color temperatures (the real-life pic is much cooler). Not that there aren't things they could improve, just that specific comparison is a bad one.

I wouldn't expect any big changes with the Pro, just a 'prettier' version of what we've already seen. They'll probably nail the framerate, but I don't have too many problems with it as it is.

It's a really minor thing but I'd be happy with lighting if sometimes the night transition was just a blue fade to dark. The yellow they have is so overdramatic when you see it every game. Totally agree on colors being washed out. I feel like a slight bump in saturation and contrast would add so much life to the game visually. But again, I think that's more a design decision than anything that'll change between the standard and Pro versions.
