While there is a separate team handling the backwards compatibility on Microsoft's part, it's up to each individual publisher to get the game up and running without any problems and I don't want to see any publisher doing that. Also, instead of Microsoft spending money on backwards compatibility, why not put that money towards a new first party studio instead? You know, for the future as opposed to the past.
Backwards Compatibility is a negative to me simply because what's the point in buying a new next generation console if im still going to play the previous gen games? This gen, we had nothing but ports, cross gen and remasters for the first 18 months if not more. If publishers stop wasting all those resources on that stuff, start development earlier rather than later, maybe we would actually get games that are new earlier as opposed to 18 months later.
Microsoft pulling off backwards compatibility was a great accomplishment and an awesome consumer friendly move but if you truly believe that they would have done the same thing if they were winning 60M to 30M then wow. All of Microsoft's consumer friendly moves have been because they're losing 2 to 1, period. It sure as hell isn't out of the kindness of their heart.
I have seen the numbers. 210M you posted by end of 2016. I would love to know what the hours are for Xbox One games are compared to Xbox 360 games played on Xbox One. If Xbox 360 games is higher than Xbox One, im sorry but that's a disgrace and tells me that I should have just stayed with Xbox 360 as opposed to moving onto the next generation.
Also, it's funny how people want backwards compatibility but yet, were quick to sell those old consoles, weren't they? If you want backwards compatibility, keep your old hardware. Unless you already own the game, you have to buy the game again. Sorry but that's just milking your consumers with a so called consumer friendly move.
Don't get me wrong though - PS Now is total and complete crap and that's being generous.
Of course, it was a highly requested featured, compared to the library on Xbox One, Xbox 360 blows it away so not really a surprise.
My thinking is simple - you move on with a new TV, car, house, whatever. Once you move on with a new console, I want to play new games. Not games I already played twice and look obsolete or even bad to where if anything, it will ruin the game for me since I would see it differently compared to when I first played the game.
But again, to each their own. If companies do it, great but if not, no biggie.
