"It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace

Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion
For anyone who picked up the RDR2 PS4 Pro bundle, seems you now have a new and quieter PS4 system.
The latest revision -- the CUH-7200 version -- was measured to have reduced the console's noise output from a minimum 50 decibels for the launch model (CUH-7000) to just 44 decibels. It'll peak at 48 decibels at its loudest, but that's still comparatively a whisper compared to the roar of older models at their max. However, it does seem that Sony has achieved this by doing away with thermal reduction, so expect the newer version to run hotter than its predecessors.
Of course, the CUH-7200 looks pretty much exactly the same as the others, so you'll need to check the label to clarify which is which. Or, have a look on the back of the model -- this one now uses the same "figure 8" power plug as the PS4 Slim and Microsoft's Xbox One. Right now, it seems it's only available as part of the Red Dead Redemption 2 bundle pack, but it'll no doubt make its way onto shelves as a standalone once stores have run out of the previous, noisier models.
Unless there are very significant changes involved, updates to gaming consoles are rarely released to any fanfare, silently slipping on to the market with minor tweaks designed to rectify any teething problems associated with that model's launch. That the latest release of the PS4 Pro was so discreet is fitting, then, because its revision has made it the quietest PS4 Pro yet.

Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion
I'm thinking of letting my PS Plus membership lapse. I can't remember the last time I played online multiplayer (I guess it would have been Star Wars in the Summer) nor the last freebie that I actually played.
I can't really think of any reason to keep it for me.

Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion
Once I did this a couple years ago I stopped even turning my PS4 on and is why I got rid of it. There are a couple games I've been interested in playing since, but that'll wait for the PS5.Comment

Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion
I let mine lapse a couple months ago for the first time ever. I went back and played some stuff in my backlog for that time and and now I'm slow burning Red Dead. I think I'll be fine for a while without it. Maybe find a code on sale with holidays around the corner and activate it when I feel the need again.Oakland Athletics San Jose Sharks

Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion
Mine expires in January and, right now anyway, I don’t plan on renewing. I don’t play online much and I have enough games that I purchased that I don’t really need the freebies.
I did let it lapse for a few days this past January. All my free Plus games were unlocked again when I renewed. So you will get them back if/when you renew.Comment

Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion
This is me most days even with the subscription. The past two years it's used mostly for streaming with an occasional game every couple of months.

Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion
I've let mine lapse. I don't play games online (well extremely rare that I do) and really saw no point in having it as I rarely pick up the free games because either I have them or I'm not interested.
I'm considering renewing during black Friday as I think its best buy that has the 12 month subscription on sale for $40. But even then, it would be almost wasting $40.I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.
I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion
I only kept mine for the freebies and online Madden league.
Since Madden is not worth it any longer I probably won't renew when time comes.Joshua:

Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion
I have a few questions for everyone. The last PlayStation I owned was a PS2 so it's been a while lol. First to watch Netflix or other streaming services do I have to subscribe to any services other than the streaming channel I want to watch? Second is there a game pass type of service for PlayStation?GT dericksun
