That’s why we’re bringing some updates to you this month across Xbox Video and Xbox SmartGlass, and it’s why we’re also exploring exciting new features to bring TV elements to more global markets and a new option for using OneGuide on multiple devices.

Re: Questions About Live TV on Xbox One?

What seems odd is that i have to hit the volume button (on media remote) multiple times before it registers sporadically on my sound bar. Hitting the "One Guide" button works fine every time, so I know my Xbox sees the remote.

The Kinect is on my tv on a wall mount, and the soundbar is below sitting on my entertainment center.

        Anything I can change?

Also, does anyone get the "features" and other blocks on the home screen just spin, requiring a hard reboot to clear up?

What brand is your sound bar?

Have you tried pointing the remote in such a way that it's angled more at the Xbox than at the Sound Bar? For instance, if your Xbox is lower on the entertainment center, point the remote toward the floor so the Sound Bar is less likely to receive IR from it.

            It's a Samsung I got from Costco.

I've been aiming it more at the Xbox, but I'll mess with it a bit...

Just seems odd how my cable remote (I was able to add the soundbar to that) can work fine, but the media one seems a little off. Maybe the sound bar is confused by the IR of the remote, i'll test.

here's my living room layout now, so it should work fairly well. It's not a big issue, just something I happened to notice.

Re: Questions About Live TV on Xbox One?

Confusion is understandable. Is it just mute or also vol+/-? If it's mute, then we have a fix coming for a known issue with Samsung sound bars.

It's almost certainly some IR interference from the Xbox One Media Remote. We've found the signal from that remote is a bit stronger than many traditional remotes, which can cause behavior like this.

I can provide some alternate IR codesets which may make a difference, but I'll need your model #.

I've noticed our remote is pretty finicky, needs to be pointed just right to get a signal in around the center speaker that's more or less in front of the Xbox. Might have to move a couple things around to accommodate it.

We don't use it a lot though, when we're using the TV (and we're both home on leave, so that's a lot) it's usually the DirecTV remote since we DVR a ton of stuff.

Yeah, the IR receiver is right behind the eject button, so it's easy to get it covered up depending on your setup.

I think the model is Samsung HW-FM45C when I look at Costco online. I can verify when I'm home. It's both mute and vol +/- for me. Not a huge deal, since we use the cable remote a lot too, but would be nice.

Maybe I'll try saying "Xbox Volume Down" and "Xbox Mute" to see if it gets the command better than otherwise....

Thanks for your help, still a big fan of the experience! I've read that you guys are adding some DVR type stuff too, so that'll be exciting.

Hope the loss of Kinect being "required" doesn't kill the updates and innovation on Xbox TV/dashboard!

New issue I have had the past couple days. The sound of the tv will lower about 50% randomly while watching TV in fullscreen. If I hit the Xbox button to go to the home screen it fixes itself after about a second, but then it will randomly do it again.

No worries there. Our team is alive and well. Personally, I wish this Kinect-less SKU never would have needed to happen, for 2 reasons:
                          1) IR blasting "just works" because everyone has a Kinect. Now we have to educate folks about IR extension cables.
                          2) People won't get to discover how voice really does make things great. I get frustrated using my 360 now because I can't say "Xbox On", "Xbox Watch ESPN", and "Xbox Record That."

However, I do get it, more than I can probably describe here, given it's not my place to say certain things.

Very strange. This isn't happening when you bring up OneGuide or go home, just while you are using TV, semi-randomly?

I noticed it once yesterday and twice so far today, so not too frequent to even be annoying, just very random. My normal setting for my soundbar is 10, but when this happens I have to set it to 20 to get the same level of sound. Bringing up the home screen resets it to normal. I'll try a hard reset and let you know if it happens again.

Okay I actually just figured out what causes the problem. Every time my controller disconnects, my volume lowers. I don't know why that would be the case, but that is 100% the problem.
