Cool stuff though, I look forward to all the innovations you guys bring. I'm looking to add another One to the house for the bedroom, my wife and I like yelling at the tv!
Great to hear. Regarding free OTA channels and Xbox One - people buy cheap boxes off of Amazon that take in an OTA coax feed and convert it to HDMI. The Xbox One can IR blast to it, etc.

Frankly, in my opinion, the Xbox One is a great device for cord cutters. Do the steps above, add in some app channels to your favorites in OneGuide, and you have a 1-stop-shop for your TV needs.

?Ask me about the Xbox Ally handheld - I'm on the team that made it.

Yeah, plus all the channels available are easier to use vs. the smart TVs or blu-ray players IMO.

We still have cable, but enjoy the voice stuff. We don't use it all the time, but it's nice to easily change channels when you know what you want.

Hey studbucket....I moved my Kinect to the top of my tv with this

        http://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

And it seems like it's about ten times better at recognizing my voice commands versus before when the Kinect was below my tv by my center channel speaker.

Are you aware of this issue? I speculate that the Kinect wasn't able to hear the commands as well in the old spot because of the speaker but shouldn't it filter out that noise?

That totally makes sense. Yeah, the Kinect team is aware of it and they attempt to filter out noise, but I think that it's not perfect.

          I'm glad it's working better!

I just pre-order the XboxONE/Madden 15 bundle on Amazon. It will not come with Kinect, will I still be able to control my TV? If so, how? Is their a separate XboxONE TV remote I can buy? One of the things I really wanted to be able to do was say the channel name to switch channels, guess I wont be able to do that without Kinect right?

Yeah you can't switch with your voice. There is a remote you can buy, and eventually Kinect will be standalone but not sure when or how expensive it'll be

If you have a smartphone/tablet, you can also use Smartglass as a remote.

Someone can correct me if I am wrong, but I thought the TV and Receiver are controlled by IR blasting which is done with the Kinect? No matter how you send the command with the XB1(smartglass, remote, controller, or voice) the signal gets sent via the Kinect.

Correct. You just can't say "Xbox Watch ESPN" from anywhere in the system without a Kinect. (or Xbox Volume Up, Xbox On, etc)

What's stupid about the Madden 15 bundle on Amazon is that they don't have one with the Kinect. Why is that? because if they would have had a bundle for $500 with Kinect I would have purchased that instead.

If I hook my XO up to my cable box will I still be able to use my regular cable remote? and will the regular guide from the cable box display? I don't wanna confuse my family members. Or should I leave it disconnected from my cable box til I get the Kinect?

Yeah you can still use your regular remote and the same cable box interface will still show up. It's invisible other than when it turns on you select Watch TV.

In case you missed it, some great things coming that are from or related to my team and the TV experience.

Ahead of our Gamescom briefing live from Cologne, Germany at 2:00 p.m. CEST – that’s 8:00 a.m. ET and 5:00 a.m. PT – Xbox Wire announces new and exciting features coming to Xbox One within the next few months.

                                • Media PlayerA new app will be available soon that enables users to play media files from either an attached USB device or from a network connected home media server that supports DLNA protocols. The preview version of the Media Player app will initially only support USB devices, with DLNA support coming soon. Xbox One will support more formats than Xbox 360, including support for dozens of new file formats like mpeg 2 TS, animated gifs and mkv which will be added by the end of the year. See below for additional file formKats.

                                • Xbox One Digital TV Tuner –Announced last week, this new accessory will enter a limited preview program in Europe (UK, France, Germany, Italy, and Spain), in advance of its retail launch beginning in October.

                                • Stream TV to SmartGlass Launching first in markets receiving the Xbox Digital TV Tuner, Xbox One owners will be able to stream their TV across their home network to their smartphones and tablets using the Xbox SmartGlass app. They can also pause, play and rewind as well as change channels, without interrupting gameplay on the Xbox One. This will work for SmartGlass apps on Windows, iOS, and Android.

                                • Boot to TVNow Xbox One owners will be able to set their console to boot directly to television when coming out of connected standby.

                                • Live TV mini guide For markets where OneGuide is available, a new mini guide on the bottom of the screen will display details about the TV content that is currently playing. Users can quickly change channels and see what’s on other channels, while still watching TV.
