Re: Questions About Live TV on Xbox One?
Think you can probably help with this one.
Can any Live TV feed (so anything coming over HDMI In) be snapped to the side of the screen?
Can the streaming services (let's say Hulu or Netflix for simplicity) also be snapped? Are all video apps supported for that or only some?
I think I know the answer to this, but does the Game DVR only work for game content (like playing Forza) and not for what's coming over HDMI In?
What interactions can you perform from SmartGlass in regards to Live TV/HDMI In? Is the whole of OneGuide on SmartGlass or just certain controls?
Sorry for all the questions, but I think this should help others too.
Yes, most apps should be snappable, I'm not aware of any that aren't.
Yes, Game DVR is only for games. Recording TV is not currently supported.
Regarding SmartGlass, the TV functionality is somewhat limited at launch. Stuff like the Guide and Remote Control will be coming in the future.?The Bulgarian Brothers - a story of two brothers (Oggy and Dinko) as they coach in the NCAA and the NBA.

Re: Questions About Live TV on Xbox One?
Hi,
Two questions:
1. Does the Xbox One always need to be on in order to watch TV or can it be in standby mode?
2. In regards to playing games/watching TV at the same time what happens to the audio? Can I switch audio between the TV and game or how does that work?
I really appreciate all the info you are giving usComment

Re: Questions About Live TV on Xbox One?
I started with Playstation (No Xbox), the switched over to the XBOX 360 instead of the PS3, and now for this go around I was undecided. About a month or so ago after research I decided to stick with the xbox but was in no hurry to pick up the one, but seeing this option made me want to have it day one! Luckily Amazon opened up preorders the other morning and I was able to secure one.
I've played games with a mini 15 in 2nd tv in the room just so that I could follow a sporting game. Soooo this feature spoke to me.
I do have one question. If I have the tv snapped can I have the volume on the playing while playing my game? If so how easy is it to switch between volume on the twitch and volume on the actual game?Comment

I do want to say that since you're a cord-cutter, our apps and app channels *may* replace much of the Roku on-demand functionality. Let me know how it goes.

2) Right now we do some automatic volume mixing based on what apps are snapped.
I just want to say this feature and this feature alone is the reason I am receiving an XBOX One tomorrow!

Right now we have some automatic volume leveling and you can't edit the mix.?The Bulgarian Brothers - a story of two brothers (Oggy and Dinko) as they coach in the NCAA and the NBA.

Re: Questions About Live TV on Xbox One?
I am having the hardest time recognizing the "Xbox Off" command. It always pauses or goes to Xbox Help. I don't have any type of thick accent or anything. All the other commands seem to be fine. Any help?Work Hard...Pay Bills...Work Hard...Pay BillsComment

Re: Questions About Live TV on Xbox One?
We had this issue too. In fact, "Xbox Off" was misrecognized so much as "Xbox Pause" or "Xbox Help" that we changed the command to "Xbox Turn Off".
Try that one.?The Bulgarian Brothers - a story of two brothers (Oggy and Dinko) as they coach in the NCAA and the NBA.

One more thing. This could be my Comcast Xfinity X1 service, but my TV seems to pause more than usual. It will pause for 2 seconds (not the pause command, more like a stutter) and then unpause to live TV. I did all the recommended solutions. Changed my cable box video output to 720, reset the box, powered off, and still occurs.Work Hard...Pay Bills...Work Hard...Pay BillsComment

Re: Questions About Live TV on Xbox One?
Studbucket - I have Dish and all of my regional sports channels are all lumped into one channel. For example, channel 412 for me is the regional sports channel and the channel in that package for me that works is 412-26. Now there are 32 channels within that grouping so when I say Xbox, watch Regional sports package, it takes me to 412-01 instead of 412-26. Is there a way to get it to go to the exact channel I want? I know this is a little weird and I really don't know why Dish does it this way but I imagine I can't be the only one who is wondering.

Next on my wishlist would be provider specific commands like 30 sec skip/slip and then being able to assign that to a macro..."xbox, alpha 4" triggering it 4 times. I suppose "xbox, fast forward 2 minutes" would be nice but probably get some broadcasters grumpy.
PS. Typed this with a controller from my Xbox One!Comment

Not that I'm aware of. Say "Xbox" and then "Shortcuts" to see a bunch of possible commands. A reddit user also made a really nice PDF of commands if you can find it. It's in the XboxOne subreddit.

If not...
2) If you feel comfortable, could you send me your zip code in a private message along with some more details on exactly the channel differences you are seeing. I can use this to file a bug and sort out the issues.?The Bulgarian Brothers - a story of two brothers (Oggy and Dinko) as they coach in the NCAA and the NBA.

Re: Questions About Live TV on Xbox One?
I think being able to say "watch 289" or "whats on 289" would be a great addition to the TV commands for a number of use cases if possible.

Pro-tip: plug in a USB keyboard and reboot the Xbox. It's "unsupported" but it works
Anyway, we definitely got a lot of Beta feedback for changing to channel numbers. We're considering adding it back, but there are 2 counterpoints:
1) It's really easy to get channel numbers wrong via voice.
2) We believe that channel numbers will become a thing of the past and users will think about things in terms of content and providers. However, we might be ahead of the curve and we may need to add numbers back to ease folks in.
Better DVR integration is definitely something we've also brainstormed a lot about.?The Bulgarian Brothers - a story of two brothers (Oggy and Dinko) as they coach in the NCAA and the NBA.

Re: Questions About Live TV on Xbox One?
Basically what is happening is every 2 to 3 mins my TV freezes the 3 to 5 seconds later it plays again. I have determined that it is either my system or my HDMI cable. However, I am leaning on it being my system, because when i plug the cable box directly to my receiver pass through i doesn't freeze at all. It only happens when i connect my cable box to he Xbox OneWork Hard...Pay Bills...Work Hard...Pay BillsComment
