One more question on the OTA streaming: Would you suggest waiting for the Xbox branded Hauppauge USB tuner or could I get the same functionality with the Hauppauge WinTV-HVR-955Q or 950Q?

Don't get the 950Q, as it's not currently supported.

The branded tuner is the same HW as the 955Q, so either will work. You can get the 955Q sooner, but it's more expensive than our branded one.

              Studbucket,

I am doing to drop DirecTV this week, even though I love the Genie DVR that works perfectly with my XB1. I'm either going to cut the cord altogether, or I will grab a much cheaper des from Charter.

If I cut the cord, I will pick up the Tivo Roamio that does OTA and cablecards If I go with Charter, I'm trying to decide between whatever DVR they offer and the Tivo.

Have you heard of issues with either of these and the XB1? I had some trouble with the DirecTV Tivo which was solved by upgrading to the Genie. I'm hoping to avoid a repeat. Has it been long enough that all of these issues have been fixed?

Also, if you could knock out an excellent DVR that uses an external hard drive and the One Guide to schedule content by next week, that would be great. 😊

No, there shouldn't be any issues, we have the TiVo Roamio in the office and I've heard very few complaints from Charter customers. I have an old TiVo HD at home (but I don't pay for the TiVo sub, I just use it as a dumb STB) and it works great.

I'm old now I guess. At 36 I fall outside the demos they are soliciting for the TV tuner beta program lol.

                      You are awesome!

The XB1 is close to Tivo and the iPad as tech I introduced into the household that my wife now can't live without. She is dubious of most stuff, but loves the console for the way it integrates TV and and streaming services, and uses the voice commands everyday.

Yeah, sometimes the voice stuff isn't perfect, but my wife just keeps yelling until it works and says "Stupid Xbox" like it's part of the family lol....Does make life easier when our son decides to hide the DVR remote in the dog toys for a week, we were able to survive on voice alone until I finally looked there lol

                            No problem.

I've appreciated all the work you've guys have done making it better every month, too.

Can't wait to see all of the Windows 10 integration.

So, I finally got my new Tivo Roamio set up, and everything works with the XB1 simply and was easy to set up. Wish I could say the same for Charter and getting the Cablecard paired, but we got there.

The real reason for this post is that I really like the new Tivo OS and its features. So much so that I think Microsoft really ought to buy Tivo and use it as their more media centric box. Heck, they have even transitioned the old Season Passes to calling it a One Pass. :-)

But they really did nail down that integration, where your pass will not only include the shows you recorded, but direct links to other episodes on pay or streaming sites like Netflix or Amazon. In a lot of ways it represents what it feels like you guys are trying to do. I think it would be a huge bonus if an eventual XB1 DVR accomplished the same stuff.

Just don't copy the Charter DVR. Man, that was painful to use.
