I'm not an expert, but I think I saw someone on reddit calculate that it ends up being like $1 more a month. So it's an increase, but nothing insane (unless you have it actually on all the time. That may add a lot more a month. Game consoles and big PCs use a lot of power).

Hey studbucket, is there any way to pull up NFL next-gen highlights on non-NFL network games? Like when they happen live?

I'm not sure. I'm not sure I like the new app. It has some neat stuff (like the next-gen highlights), but I pulled them up once, and it had Julio Jones running in a circle around the field and the play lasting 30 seconds. It didn't seem right. You also can't watch video content and do something else at the same time (like see a scoreboard or browse for more) and there doesn't seem to be a full screen scoreboard option, like game center, it seems to only have snap.

So that didn't answer your question, but I did air my grievances.

My wife and I were in Ohio visiting her dad (he's got cancer) and one thought we had was "Man, we wish we could talk to our tv". Really made me realize how much we're ingrained with saying "Xbox On" or "Xbox Watch ABC" or "Xbox Volume Down"...

I know those features are panned, but they've become a part of our lives...especially when you can't find a remote lol. Our 18 month year old son yells at the tv too, right after we do. We find that hilarious.

Stud bucket around? How awful is my TV experience going to be if I opt into this new U/I? The bugs do not sound comforting at all. I'm on vacation until Saturday so I have a couple days to think about it.

What bugs are you hearing about? Anyone opting into the new preview experience is going to have some level of pain as they deal with with the kinks being worked out across the system. All of them are known and being actively fixed.

Yeah I'm not worried about general bugs. This is the line that has me most worried from what ive read so far.

"Cable/Satellite set top box compatibility is not yet at parity with the current Xbox One experience. "

Can you elaborate on that at all? Not sure I'm understanding it fully.

That would be cool to know...always tempted to try this in our bedroom, but wouldn't want the TV experience to cause issues...it's not just me using the system (which is a great thing...in the past only I cared about the gaming system :-) )

Totally. We're basically shipping a whole new OS/system, so a lot of things have had to be ported or built from the ground up. Because of that, there are some bugs we dealt with early when shipping the Xbox One that exist again now. Specifically:
                        -Surround sound doesn't work
-Users are see a black screen more often than usual
                        -Some users lose audio

In general, the basic troubleshooting steps (like hot plugging HDMI cable, rebooting cable box, etc) fix the issues. However, that's not true in all cases. I'd say the majority of users have a decent experience, but not all.

This preview is going to be a lot more like a Beta than the traditional preview. Preview has usually been a place to get feedback on relativgely polished features. We're basically re-releasing the console OS and you're getting Beta access

Thanks...I may hold off on that, but we'll see, haven't gotten the message yet since I just rejoined the preview.

I guess I'll just opt in and not use the Xbox pass through until it is fixed. I can't go without surround sound.

I'd happily give up surround sound to be able to stream music unsnapped at this point, my Xbox One is unused for gaming because of this still not being in the O/S. The only games I use on X1 now are the Forza games.. smh

Yeah I can't agree with that. Tv is unwatchable without surround sound for me. I have various other ways to listen to music.
