Streamed OTA from the One to a Surface, worked great. Need to get my antenna properly set up and it will be really useful. It did not affect the DirecTV being watched on the console at the same time. Limited usage, but really cool.

Re: Questions About Live TV on Xbox One?
Is there a way to use last channel and also volume control using IR blasters?
I am using a 3 end IR Blaster, cable, receiver, tv. Works great with power on/ off. Changing channel, but like the post above, would be nice to not have to scroll though hundreds of channels to get where I'm going.
But, if there a way to volume up/down with an IR Blaster? I believe you can with Kinect, but I don't have one.
Thank you
You want to control volume on your AVR? Power is already working for it? You can use the Media Remote ($25) or use SmartGlass to control volume w/o voice. If those options don't work, let's make sure your device is configured correctly.
Regarding last channel, you can bring up the miniguide (thumbstuck up/down or the view button). In that, we have 3 options:
-All channels
-Recent channels
-Favorite channels
You can also view tweets related to the current show there. From testing at work, daytime TV + Tweets is a riot.
Totally agree. I PM'd the in-home TV streaming feature, and I'm still impressed by how well it works every time I use it. Definitely under-appreciated.Last edited by studbucket; 05-25-2015, 03:04 PM.?The Bulgarian Brothers - a story of two brothers (Oggy and Dinko) as they coach in the NCAA and the NBA.

Re: Questions About Live TV on Xbox One?
I'm probably going to be buying a Xbox One here soon and the live tv thing is intriguing, but even after skimming through this thread I still don't really understand it or how it works. Could someone give me the Cliff's notes version?
I currently have Time Warner cable, if that helps.
Thanks.Last edited by PVarck31; 05-28-2015, 10:24 PM.Comment

Re: Questions About Live TV on Xbox One?
Mestevo's got it. It's just like watching your cable, just with the Xbox One instead of directly into TV.
You can just use your cable remote, or you can choose to use the Xbox One to change channels.
If you have more questions, I'm happy to help.?The Bulgarian Brothers - a story of two brothers (Oggy and Dinko) as they coach in the NCAA and the NBA.

Not sure what part, so here is a quick version of the entire thing:
If you look up images of the xbox one home screen, you see there are tiles representing games and apps. Tv is one of those apps. the One has an HDMI in, you put your time warner receiver into that.
Then the tile shows your tv feed when maximized or as the main tile on the home screen if it was the last used app. works just like all the other apps (like Netflix) but it has your live tv. You can use your current remote to control it or you can use a controller/xbox media remote to control if you have IR Blaster or Kinect (and voice with Kinect too.)
Makes it easy to switch between tv/games/apps without changing tv inputs. Can snap tv while playing games, browsing the store, etc.Comment

Re: Questions About Live TV on Xbox One?
Studbucket, having a pairing problem....I had to unhook Xbox so cable was easy for pet sitter....rehooked upstairs one just fine but now downstairs one keeps making cable box (cisco explorer 8642HDC) flip between 1080i and 480p for a few minutes before causing cable box to reboot.
If I hook cable box to tv directly it works fine, and I can transfer hdmi back to Xbox and it'll work. However, when I turn everything off and on the cable works for 5 seconds before freezing and doing the resolution flip flop until it reboots...
Any input? I even tried resetting tv in settings but that didn't seem to help....Really baffled and frustrated now, hopefully it can be fixed somehowNintendo Switch Friend Code: SW-7009-7102-8818Comment

Re: Questions About Live TV on Xbox One?
Normally when you see something like that, I'd recommend pulling the power on the set top box while the Xbox is on, then plugging it back it. It causes the STB to re-negotiate its connection based on the information the Xbox sends down. Sometimes we have bugs, but sometimes STBs behave poorly and require a reboot like that to re-negotiate.?The Bulgarian Brothers - a story of two brothers (Oggy and Dinko) as they coach in the NCAA and the NBA.

Re: Questions About Live TV on Xbox One?
Here's a question for all? Do you have to have a kinect to change the channels? I still have to use the remote that's with the cable box because I can't change channels with the controller.
Edit: Nevermind. Found my answer. My Xbox doesn't have a kinect so there is my answer.

Re: Questions About Live TV on Xbox One?
Very strange. I am not sure why that would do that. That's actually just a setting that changes how the app sizes the video. (as opposed to the platform/driver layer, which is what handles all the resolution stuff).

I could get it to re-pair, but then it'd break next time.
Dunno why she had to change that setting on the tv itself, but it's fixed now. Just have to go re-add all our favorite channelsNintendo Switch Friend Code: SW-7009-7102-8818Comment

Re: Questions About Live TV on Xbox One?
Yeah, my old remote has that button but didn't see it on the new one, maybe it is there and I missed it....Just so weird that it'd cause so much problems paring...it's like the zoom aspect made it so it couldn't do 1080i correctly or something.Nintendo Switch Friend Code: SW-7009-7102-8818Comment
