Why can't DirecTV users use the ESPN3 app? Microsoft has a deal with DirecTV as the official provider for TV don't they? Plus the NFL deal is through them as well.

Does it not let you watch the live games on ESPN3? I have DirecTV and it says I need to sign in to watch the "02 Live TV" part of the app, which DirecTV is not supported on, but it lets me watch the live games listed in the "03 ESPN3" part of the app with no problems. I do wish DirecTV would be more compatible with some of the online TV services, specifically on XBO, I'd like to be able to use the FXNow app.

When I tried to watch any live games it told me I had to login but maybe I didn't try the section you speak of. I'm logged in now under my sisters time warner account so everything works..

Had the instant on / 0x8027025a problem tonight. Disabling instant on, rebooting, re-enabling and rebooting again and all seems to be well.

So I gave all of this a work out this morning, and came away pretty much empty handed. What I nailed down ,though, is that Dolby is the issue. I can run with Instant On just fine with it turned off on the Tivo. But I cannot get any surround working without it.

I tried 5.1, 7.1, and Dolby in the Sound Settins for HDMI. I turned optical sound off. I have beta surround on in the troubleshooting menu of the TV/One Guide.

If I run under Energy Saving, I still only get surround if I have Dolby turned on.

Hard power cycling the Tivo had no effect on anything, unfortunately.

Did you try going to Live TV troubleshooting, then enabling "Surround Sound (Beta)"? That may allow you to have Dolby turned on.

As others have implied, I don't think this is a Microsoft thing, it's an ESPN thing. Its part of their app.

The slightly quicker way is to just press+hold the power button on the front, at least it should do the same thing.

Weird. We have tested with those DirecTV models and many others and never seen this. Is it every time? Is it possible you are hitting A once or twice too many times and pausing it via the Xbox controller?

No matter how I say it I cannot get Xbox to change to Investigation Discovery channel! It takes us to MSNBC instead. I've had my fiancé try it too and same thing.

Any ideas? Can anyone else get it to change to ID? And yes I tried "Xbox Watch ID" to no avail.

This will do some voodoo with learning that channel that studbucket has mentioned before. Recently tuned + favorites get special priority I think in voice recognition.

Yeah, I need to manage my favorites sometime, I've yet to delve into this...Mestevo's right though, it does remember some of the channels like this.

I never figured out how to get it to Red Zone channel, but now the regular season's done so I don't care lol.

Previously it was sending me to the distant network channels (east/west coast feeds of the networks) instead of my locals when I'd say 'watch CBS', 'watch NBC', etc. By tuning to them through the guide it fixed that 'mapping'.

Yes this even applies to my 1000 tier HD channels. Any ideas?

My next Plan of action is to change the cables, but I think I've figured out what it is.

Think it's an AT&T Uverse Wireless Receiver I have it plugged into and not the Xbox One.

Hey Zalf, I'm not sure exactly what you are asking for.

Whatever is plugged into the HDMI-in port of the console can be viewed via the Live TV app.

You can bring up the OneGuide from Home or Live TV by hitting X on the controller and you can change channels from there and easily access on-demand content from ESPN, NFL, Hulu, etc.

You will need to use your DVR remote to access DVR'd content.

FWIW, the Kinect is much, much easier to use now than on the 360 and if you calibrate it and have your wife signed in, basic voice commands like "Xbox Watch TV" or "Xbox Watch ESPN" should work well. My 4 year old daughter can even get the guide to show up sometimes, and she doesn't speak very clearly.

My fiance, who is not a big techie, absolutely LOVES the Xbox One due to the fact it controls well with her voice. Yes sometimes we have to repeat and/or yell commands but not most of the time. Most of the time it's a dream. Took her about a day or two to get used to how to move around so if your wife or g/f is at all open to technology and isn't just an anti-tech person you should do fine I think.

In fact I think, at times, my g/f likes the Xbox One even more than me because of how much of a pain always looking for the remote was and now she can control 95% of what needs done just by voice.

When you snap the ESPN app how do you switch it from news to ESPN3??

I press up and down on my controller which scrolls up and down when it's full screen up nothing happens...

I just tried and I'm not sure you can. I can only go between 2 channels. Likely an ESPN app issue. Not sure why they'd design it that way.
