Doubt it. They will learn how to use each system more and more and the differences will stay minimal. Unless devs get lazy and just complain about one console being a little tougher instead of just figuring it out.

Re: Owners of both PS4 and Xbox One: Pros and Cons
If you have ever played one game at 30fps on console and later the same game at 60fps on PC, you'll know that the difference between 30fps and 60fps is huge. Its hard to go back to play the 30fps game after that.
60fps is a much better experience. In the future, as the devs learn how to develop and optimize games on the new consoles better, the gap between the XB1 games and the PS4 games should get much larger, in the favor of the PS4.
Unless the devs nerf the PS4 versions.
That's not my opinion, that's a statement of fact. I have looked at the hardware specs and configs. Devs don't have an excuse to have both looking the same, when one is significantly more powerful than the other.Nah, I agree with jatiger13 now that he's filtered out all of the FUD and absolute exaggerations from his actual point. Like last gen it will be mostly apparent in 1st party titles though, it won't be a given that multiplatform titles will do the work to differentiate the consoles though.
There's a power difference, it's up to the dev tools and developers themselves to take advantage. It may be some time before there's really any substantial differences and it by no means automatically mean the PS4 is nerfed. In the case of Assassin's Creed Unity even the PC specs are ridiculous, something went horribly wrong in development or it's an incredibly ambitious title that had to be neutered pretty significantly for both consoles.
The currently 30/60 thread... yeah not touching that. Abstractly saying 60fps games are better than anything that's 30fps is ridiculous. Guess you guys won't be picking up Bloodborne or The Order... no Xbox One scapegoat there as they're exclusives.Last edited by mestevo; 10-30-2014, 11:58 AM.Comment

You run into an issue with FPS vs. Open World games though...If you have ever played one game at 30fps on console and later the same game at 60fps on PC, you'll know that the difference between 30fps and 60fps is huge. Its hard to go back to play the 30fps game after that.

The open world games tend to be a lot more complex, with more AI and other characters to worry about on the CPU, which is where they run into issues...it's not all just GPU, there's CPU limitations that hit both systems pretty evenly...
A FPS tends to not have as much "other stuff" to worry about, so can dedicate more to the frame rate. Also, FPS are more "twitch" so that 60fps matters a lot more than other style games.
Just something i've read on various gaming sites...When you go from 30 to 60 fps you double the re-computes necessary in that second and that hits the CPU as well.Nintendo Switch Friend Code: SW-7009-7102-8818Comment

Re: Owners of both PS4 and Xbox One: Pros and Cons
Yes, open world games rely more on the CPU due to AI. But framerates are mainly handled by the GPU. So while going from 30 to 60 fps increases the load on he CPU, its not as much as the load that gets put on the GPU.
Like I showed in a previous post, the PS4 is already putting out double the amount of pixels/GPU clock compared to the XBOne. So the PS4 would still be running that game on a higher framerate.
Also, the XBOne is appearently struggling to process AI as it is anyways, while keeping a steady framerate, according to Ubisoft and Rockstar (R* had a little bit of issue with NG version of GTA V running properly on the XBOne, but should be ok by now).Comment

Re: Owners of both PS4 and Xbox One: Pros and Cons
I don't believe is said they look much better, if I did I misspoke...what I said was why would I not buy the better version of a game when given the choice? About the only reason I can think of is friends who play one one console but that's not an issue for me as I have friends on both. There I fixed it for you lol. *A little better* but absolutely nothing substantial. And, when we have to look hard to notice a difference it becomes minute and a joke to say one looks much better. Also, when there are differences they are very small and you know this Odogg especially on all the new games. Look, there's no denying that the ps4 has the better hardware, but for you to say the same games are looking much better isn't truthful.

I'm not even saying the PS4 is a better machine, just that right now games are a bit better on it than X1 and that is why I'm buying my games for it over Xbox One. And for MS that is an issue as software is where they make their money in the world of video games.Streaming PC & PS5 games, join me most nights after 6:00pm ET on TwitchTV https://www.twitch.tv/shaunh20

Re: Owners of both PS4 and Xbox One: Pros and Cons
An educational comparison for people who don't know how big the difference really is.
___________
Back to what I have been saying before.
Even if a game is listed as 30fps on both consoles, the PS4 will still run at a steadier framerate with less dips, due to its superior GPU.
This is not opinion, its a fact.
@ODogg
I buy all my games for the PS4 as well. I stopped buying for the XBOne, because most of the time the games run smoother on the PS4.
I have done side by side comparisons in my mancave/gameroom. I have two 43 inch TV's right next to each other on the wall, so those comparisons are easy to make.
The only games I play on the XBOne are exclusives, but they don't get much play. Forza, for example, is way to arcade for me, so I gave that one away. As someone who is a "weekend driver", I couldn't stand the arcade feel. Nice looking game, but that's about all it is.Comment

I'd like to see one example of a multiplatform game running at 60fps on the ps4 and it running in 30fps on the one. I think everyone knows the difference between the 2.
Exactly.....

Re: Owners of both PS4 and Xbox One: Pros and Cons
So im lost, what then when a title does come out 60 on ps4 and 30 on x1??? I mean we are still real early in the console cycles, as years go on the utilization of the ps4 power advantages will be taken advantage of.
I was a 360 fan and owned a ps3 but the ps3 did have dedicated titles which utilized all the power of the ps3 which the 360 would not of been able too. I was never upset that the 360 was "supposedly" weaker than the ps3. I just enjoyed the 360.
Now with some of the comments it comes off that X1 fans are a bit reluctant to admit the ps4 is a more powerful machine even though the numbers say so and developers. It is not a knock on the X1, it will still be a fantastic console this generation but its silly to think the ps4 wont be able to supply more tech resources to a game.

I think by now everyone knows the ps4 is stronger. The situation is that right NOW there's no multiplatform game that's 60 on the ps4 while 30 on the one, and owning both console I can't objectively say that the majority of games look identical with the exception of some launch titles. The ones that do look different aren't night and day. Both consoles have pros and cons and we all know Xbox started on the wrong foot, but some of the post on this forum are usually done with an agenda it seems. Both consoles bring something different to the table. I for one do not want parity in these games. I want each dev to push each console to its limits. I tell people all the time, if all you want is gaming get the ps4, but if you want a console with gaming, some good multimedia features and if you play a lot of online multiplayer get the one. I've experienced the better graphics on the ps4 on some multiplatform games and I can appreciate that, but while the Xbox is the weaker out of the 2 it's also the console that's more fun, has more and better exclusives right now and offers more which is the reason why I enjoy it. The best bet is to get both if you can to enjoy both console exclusives.
