It's probably going to be years. Nintendo said they are still just in the planning stages.

With Ori and the Blind Forest being delayed and the main two games im waiting for (Quantum Break and Rise of the Tomb Raider) not due out until late 2015, I would be buying an Xbox One for Ryse and it will then sit there collecting dust for who knows how long.

For those who own Wii U and Xbox One (or all three), I would welcome suggestions, advice, comments, etc. Thanks.
My advice would be "don't be silly!" If ALL you care about is playing Nintendo games, go for it. But you are OS, so it is safe to assume that you do like sports games. But then again, you dont list any sports games.

Look, I have every system. The WiiU is the biggest waste. Even my kids, all of whom primarily play Nintendo games, have no use for the WiiU. Every high profile game on it is just a refresh of games they already have on the Wii or 3ds. Unless you are just a HUGE Nintendo fan, i would avoid it. For the record, technically, there is NO excuse for the WiiU being so weak in terms of raw specs. It is even worse in actual performance. Nintendo clearly doesnt give a **** anymore.

Yeah brother.....even I who have little use for my Xbone at the moment would say don't go WiiU instead.
Unless your kids are very little...HAVE to have Mario and other Nintendo games....I just don't see it getting any use for you.

My WiiU is a perfect complement to the PS4.
And since about a month ago the play time has been relatively even.

As a sole console I wouldn't but if you have a PS4/X1 It really is worth it.

As of yet there's nothing X1 related that I have a desire to throw down 350.00 for.
I'm sure that will change eventually once they get more exclusives out.

My Xbox One has pretty much become a Blu-ray player. I just don't have much use for it as all of my games are played on the PS4.

As a side note, I feel that the Xbox One's controller has taken a step back from the 360 controller. I just can't get used to it.

I'm on Operation Sports because the gaming discussions here are more mature and adult oriented compared to GameFaqs. As for sports games, I buy, play and sell Madden every year within two weeks as it's never good enough for me to keep playing. Other than that, I haven't played a sports game since NBA 2K11 on Xbox 360 and I really enjoyed it but now, im just not into sports games at all.

Excluding third party games (which I play on PS4), Wii U has the better exclusives (at least for me) and more games that I want to play in that regard. For PlayStation 4, I only played one exclusive being Knack. The Order: 1886 will be the second exclusive that I play for it followed by Bloodborne. Xbox One wise, I definitely want to play Ryse: Son of Rome and after watching some videos, may play Dead Rising 3 but that's 50/50. After those two games, I have Ori and the Blind Forest which has been delayed until who knows when and then, it's Quantum Break and Rise of the Tomb Raider but both of those are late 2015 releases.

Wii U wise, I want to play New Super Mario Bros. U, Hyrule Warriors, Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze, Super Mario 3D World and Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker. Resident Evil Revelations, ZombiU and Mutant Mudds Deluxe are all 50/50.

Also looking to sell my Xbox 360 to lower the overall cost. In the end, im most likely going to buy an Xbox One next Saturday for one reason and one reason only - best Buy is giving a $50 gift card with the purchase and im going to sell both Unity and Black Flag so the overall cost should be closer to $250-$300. I'm going to pay cash for it. With the $50 gift card, all the points and reward certs, I should be able to buy a Wii U at the end of January or beginning of February.

I can get both consoles within the next six weeks and have all three as im moving on from Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and Wii 100%. Also figured that im never ever going to catch up with the backlog I have from last gen so better off just moving on.

As for Nintendo, I still LOVE and RESPECT Nintendo. Every gamer should simply because if it wasn't for them, there would be no PlayStation and no Xbox. Nintendo started a chain reaction when they dumped Sony while they were developing the SNES CD-Rom which in turn, became the original PlayStation. The success of PlayStation compared to Nintendo 64 and Sega Saturn led to Microsoft jumping in the gaming console industry with the original Xbox. I have owned every Nintendo console more than once as I have bad habit of buying and selling repeatedly but that ends with this generation.

Also, while im 36 years old, even I get tired of all the violent bloody games that are all pretty much the same and while Nintendo has their formula and their games are more or less the same, the difference is that their games stand the test of time and are still great to excellent to classic games. I haven't played any of the Wii U games yet but I would think that out of all the exclusives, they have at least ONE classic where as I don't see that on Xbox One or PlayStation 4, at least not yet anyway.

In the end, like I always say, it's all about personal preference and my personal preference is to own all three. Not only that but with Wii U, I can play Wii games which is great because I want to play The Last Story and Pandora's Tower. Add in the Virtual Console games which im hoping grows in 2015 and adds all the games that were originally on Wii. Either way, can't wait as it will be the first time ever that I have all three major consoles at the same exact time.

If you already have a one or ps4 definitely get a wii u before you get the other console. Wii u is awesome. Great exclusives, virtual console, it's a fun co some.

I was but Xbox One is $350 with two games that I'll sell and a $50 gift card plus 700 points which is about another $15 for me. Overall, buying Xbox One first will allow me to buy both within six weeks. I want Wii U more but buying it first means that it's going to be a while before I buy an Xbox One.

Re: Owners of both PS4 and Xbox One: Pros and Cons

                      If this helps anyone ...

Last gen I went with XB360 only. I was satisfied, and glad I had one, as most of my friends(who are almost all ps supporters) would brag about their Playstation 3s, but seemed to have a regular bout of problems.

This year I gave in to my friends and got a PS4(also because I have a high powered gaming pc so I wanted the best graphics to match my pc). I have to say, in the overall, I'm disappointed. I know theyre still releasing system updates, but I feel like it is still in beta condition. I cant change my wallpaper, minimal themes, features that don't seem to work regularly. Online is not as smooth and stable as XBL.

Though I like the controllers better than the DS3, I still dont like the DS4 analog sticks. I find the controller uncomfortable after more than an hour of use.

Speaking of controllers, PS4 uses bluetooth technology to connect the controllers to the system. In my case, this couldnt be worse. I live in apartment building, and most days, my controllers will not even work - between constant disconnection and erratic behaviour, to no response whatsoever. This has been the single biggest problem Ive had, and is a huge downer, since I am not able to even play my games.

I've contacted support, and gotten no response. They do not care, and probably consider me a rare case. I have three controllers, so it is not my "one" controller.

I'm not saying buy XB1, I'm saying do the research, and find the best suited to you. I wish I waited and read a bit more. My 360 controllers still work flawlessly. This is complete bs.

So, basically, you're a Nintendo fan. So, go for it. Like I said. Mad respect for everything you said here, but I think you crediting the wrong company for console mainstreaming dude. Just because Nintendo is the oldest remaining console maker doesn't give it the full spotlight. Atari was the first major mainstream console that started all of this. Equal credit if not more goes to them. Also, the Sega and its Master System deserve a big salute. But even with that said, as much respect and reverence is due to Nintendo, that does NOT excuse some of their obvious short comings. Let me put it this way: if all we bought were Nintendo, great genres like FPSes, RTSes, and most importantly Sport sims, would have been missing or sorely handicapped. They do fine with platformers, collectibles, and jrpg/adventures. But the way they have done business lately has done little to nothing in advancing the industry. I give them credit for going their own direction. But I give them no credit at all for selling us $50 hardware for $200. I give them no credit for giving us yet another Mario Kart and Super Smash Brothers. Those are easy. If you're going to pat yourself on the back as an industry leader and innovator, then you had to come stronger than rehashes on hardware that's still slower than old gen. Yes: the WiiU is less capable than the Xbox 360 and PS3.

So, again, I respect your views on them. But those are my reasons for saying they need to try harder.

Except for the controller problem, I have no interest in all the apps, online, wallpapers etc. stuff. I care about games period.

As for your controller problem, have you tried connecting the USB cable when playing so it's no longer wireless and using a remote source? If you still have that problem, I feel bad for you because that definitely sucks. Could always trade in PS4 for Xbox One.

I'm still researching but due to the offer that I would be getting from buying Xbox One first, I can end up with both and thus, have all three consoles.

I started gaming with the 8 bit NES and the reason why I give Nintendo more respect than Atari is simple - Nintendo didn't crash the industry, Atari did. Nintendo resurrected the industry and if it wasn't for them, I seriously doubt that the majority of what has happened would have happened.

Loved Sega too. SNES vs Genesis was and still is the best console generation in my opinion. Owned a Genesis, CDX, Saturn and Dreamcast. Shame to see them now compared to back then but there's the difference - Nintendo isn't perfect but they don't make those mistakes that kill themselves off or make themselves obsolete.

As for your reasons, except for Far Cry, im not a fan of the FPS genre or RTS games that neither mean anything to me but I do agree in general. Sports games go both ways. Some are good, some are bad but if you want baseball, you must own a PS4 and if you want football, you must buy Madden. The options are no longer there.

As for advancing the industry, Nintendo innovated the motion controls with Wii to where Sony and Microsoft copied them. Nintendo also innovated with previous consoles. Nintendo has innovated the more than Sony and Microsoft combined. If anything, they have copied Nintendo more than not.

As for the power of the consoles, I agree that Nintendo's next console should be more up to date at that time and have a regular basic controller. In regards to games, they will always have great games for one main reason - there will obviously always be kids playing video games and that's where Nintendo's focus is on. Should they have a better console and whatnot next generation? Absolutely and definitely.

Back to advancing the industry...sorry but adding DLC, broken games, charging $50 or $60 to play online, micro-transactions, no more manuals, cinematic games as opposed to actual gameplay, DRM, going all digital, eliminating disc based consoles, no used games, still charging $60 for full digital games despite their being no retail discs, etc. I could go on and on but Sony and Microsoft haven't advanced the industry like most think they have. If anything, they will be the reason why the industry crashes again. And as a single player gamer, adding co-op and/or online multiplayer to the single player aspect is not a positive in my opinion.

Nintendo's main focus has always been on games and as gamer first and foremost, that's what I care about. When you look at PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, the funny thing is that without third party games, both consoles suck, plain and simple. Unlike Sony and Microsoft, Nintendo is the ONLY first party company that has, can and will always survive without any third party support.

If it wasn't for third party games, I wouldn't even be touching my PS4 until The Order comes out. Xbox One wise, nothing until Ori or Quantum Break/Rise of the Tomb Raider.

But for Wii U, it's not about the third party games, it's about their exclusives and second party games. In this aspect, it's not even close. In the end, all three have their positives and negatives but if I had to bet money on one of the three, I would always pick Nintendo because they're the only first party company who can succeed on their own.

I respect your opinions too and agree in regards to Nintendo developing a better stronger console next generation but all three consoles have their positives and negatives. It's all based on personal preference. I only own a PlayStation 4 but still want to own an Xbox One and a Wii U because in the end, having all three is the perfect combination and I don't see any negatives in being able to play any game at any time (once released) for any of the three consoles.

The resurrection of the industry actually got kickstarted with Doom on the PC and then the first Playstation. The N64 just rode that wave in. To blame Atari on the industry crash is a bit much. That's like blaming SGI on the .Com boom. Basically, Atari was the primary victim/symptom of the crash. Not necessarily the culprit. Sure, it was a big part of it, but so was Nintendo.

Actually, Sega and Nintendo used the SAME business model. The DIFFERENCE was that Nintendo's financial position (as it is today) was strong enough to withstand the lack of 3rd party support. THAT is what killed Sega. The other difference was that N's stable of first party titles were an industry mainstay. Sega only had Sonic and Sonic had nowhere near the following of Mario.

I'm not either. I'm tired of them. But in terms of volume, that genre pretty much dominates the industry.

or RTS games that neither mean anything to me but I do agree in general.
Liking them or not isn't the point. They are KEY genres in the industry. But I see you get what I'm saying.

Sports games go both ways. Some are good, some are bad but if you want baseball, you must own a PS4 and if you want football, you must buy Madden. The options are no longer there.
That's more a factor of the nature of the current licensing model, thanks to the ****storm EA started with FIFA and Nascar. It's sad. BTW, the MLB needs to do something about that. That sport is hurting. For as good as The Show is, holding up on only one platform is not good for the bottom line for Sony or the MLB.

Yes and no. First, Wii wasn't the first to implement motion controlling. I think there was a VR headset (I THINK made by Sega), that first introduces the concept to the masses. Nintendo used motion later in a Kirby GBC game (I think I still have that cart). And for all of that, the Wii motion controls turned out to be nothing more than a gimmick in the end as only specific niche titles effectively used it. You'd be hard pressed to name one major title not from Nintendo that actually uses it and is KNOWN for it.

As for the power of the consoles, I agree that Nintendo's next console should be more up to date at that time and have a regular basic controller.
Don't get me wrong. I CERTAINLY support how they think outside of the box on so many levels. And yes, they ARE an industry leader and innovator. I'm just saying that they need to stop using those advancements and gimmicks as an excuse NOT to do the basic stuff. Give us hardware that is up to date. Help the industry create or advance new genres and IPs.

In regards to games, they will always have great games for one main reason - there will obviously always be kids playing video games and that's where Nintendo's focus is on. Should they have a better console and whatnot next generation? Absolutely and definitely.
                              Agreed.

You don't think Nintendo is doing the exact some stuff? How many different versions of Pokemon can a kid buy? To have to buy a new cartridge just to add characters is a crime in my opinion. Nintendo is doing this too. And they are also doing digital distribution as well. As for the rest, I'm not implying that those facets of the industry at the advancements. But online multiplayer, for example, was something Nintendo was greatly opposed to. There was talk that some people in Nintendo wanted to include a modem in the N64, but it was shot down HARD by the powers that be.

Nintendo's main focus has always been on games and as gamer first and foremost, that's what I care about. Because neither MS or Sony has a GAMING lineage. And there's certainly nothing wrong with that. Sony was smart enough to get a great stable of 2nd party devs. MS has software background and knows how to work with partners. The mantra of "Nintendo only cares about games" is, frankly a played out, elitist one that needs to go away. No offense to you. It's just that is just said so much, yet the facts don't back it up if you look at Nintendo's business model. I have seen how Nintendo works over the years. They have some of the most self-serving practices in the industry. There is a reason their 3rd party support is weak. It's not just the terrible hardware. BUT, it's made them a lot of money and there's no reason to change it in their view.

But for Wii U, it's not about the third party games, it's about their exclusives and second party games. In this aspect, it's not even close.
Sure it's close. There is a list of VERY obscure titles on your list that no one knows about or cares about. That MAY be an indictment of the general consumer, mind you. But that's just how it is. If people don't know or care about a title, it won't sell no matter how good you may think it is. And Nintendo is running the risk of letting itself fall into a hole where no one will care about their IP outside of the classics. And even longtime, hardcare Nintendo fans are starting to not care or just outgrow them completely.

In the end, all three have their positives and negatives but if I had to bet money on one of the three, I would always pick Nintendo because they're the only first party company who can succeed on their own.
I agree. They are the one that would most likely survive. But we're not at that point and Sony and MS have put themselves in a position where they don't necessarily HAVE to rely on their own resources. If Nintendo would get off it's *** and actually care about 3rd party, Sony and MS would have to sweat quite a bit. But they are not and I don't see them caring to change. And, THAT will be their undoing if this continues. Did you know that Nintendo has to provide incentive for publishers to put games on their systems now? That's ****ing unheard of in the past. But that's the truth. All of them do it, but Nintendo is starting to almost beg. It's funny actually.

I respect your opinions too and agree in regards to Nintendo developing a better stronger console next generation but all three consoles have their positives and negatives.
Thank you man. Same to you. It's REALLY refreshing to "argue" with someone respectfully. If I come off disrespectful in any of my replies, please know it was unintentional and point it out.

It's all based on personal preference. I only own a PlayStation 4 but still want to own an Xbox One and a Wii U because in the end, having all three is the perfect combination and I don't see any negatives in being able to play any game at any time (once released) for any of the three consoles.
Exactly. That's why I said in my original post - if you're a big fan of the Nintendo library, get the WiiU. It's you're not all in on them, avoid it completely. It's a Nintendo box. Nothing more than that. And for MILLIONS of people (and kids), that's more than enough. I'd never deny that.

I own all three systems and I've not even turned on my Wii U in two months. I game all the time on PS4, use my Xbox One for everything else. Not saying the Wii U isn't worth it, some of their games like Mario Kart are incredibly fantastic, but overall the Wii U is a great THIRD system to own after you already have the PS4 and Xbox One...or a second system only if you're a huge Nintendo fan and/or have kids..
