Everyone is different so just give options on both to fullfill the needs of everyone as far as "extras" outside of games.

Right I understand that. If there were must have exclusives for me I would have a ps4 too. But if I didn't touch my ps4 from August to now like the above poster said he has done with his One I would just probably sell it. I have a buddy that never touches his ps4. I just don't get it.

I just have a ton of friends....I guess if it was done like X1 it'd be alright though..

Like Sky said, I got really into some games and the pop ups take me out of the moment on occasion...

Because it's there if he wants to use it. Kinda like a lot of stuff folks own if you think about it. I don't play my Wii U often but occasionally I fire it up for some Mario games.

Remote play, share play, Vita integration, PlayStation App, etc all rival the X1 and are arguably better. The PlayStation may run a bit louder, but it hasn't broken yet, where my xbox did, and I have surround sound on or a headset so I can't hear it anyways. Hands down the PS4 his generation in my opinion.

That's why it's good to have both available. I've been the exact opposite. My Xbox is probably used 80% of the time as I can be ultra lazy going from TV to Plex to Twitch and back again. I sit far enough from my TV that the resolution difference does not impact me at all. I'd say the main reason the ps4 gets play is because the controller is smaller so my son likes it better.

Love them both in different ways and am lucky to have both.

Opened up my xbox one and feel a few simple features are missing from my initial experience :

-no way to eject from controller? 360 had it.
-does not support 1080i? The tv i was going to hook it up to is 1080i, and xb360 had that option. XBO only has 720p and 1080p. Bummer. Since they had it on the 360 you'd think it wouldve been easy to bring to XBO.

So far i like it, but it's first impressions and it's a new toy feeling. Will play more games but so far so good being an owner of both machines.

Nope.. unless they've changed it recently..??

              From XBOX1 Support:

              1080i

Televisions with 1080i resolution display 1920 x 1080 pixels. This gives the user a 16:9 high definition (HD) viewing area. The "i" in 1080i stands for interlaced scan, which means that half the lines that make up screen images are "redrawn" by your HDTV 60 times a second. Although this technique looks great with most media, fast-moving video, such as sports footage, suffers a slight blur at 1080i. For this reason, Xbox One does not support interlaced resolutions.
              See above..........

What is the benefit of ejecting a disc with a controller? I've seen this complaint a few times in various forums, but it really confuses me.

I'm confused too. It would be cool if my controller could also could put my next game in but I gotta get up either way.

Count me in as one baffled by the need to eject from you controller. As for noise, sometime must be wrong with the guy's One because mine is noticeably quieter than the PS4. Neither of which is loud enough to even be a deciding factor! Part of the point of a friends list is to have a network of people you want to play and interact with. If you don't know they are online, what's the point? So to dismiss the importance of notifications is outrageous. My schedule is tight, so it is easy to miss opportunities to play with my friends and family. I NEED that notification to tell me who's online. At LEAST when I start a session. I don't subscribe to the "notification clutter my screen" mantra either... Really? A tiny rectangle that lasts a couple of seconds is less intrusive than subtitles.

I believe most that weren't bothered by notifications not being there said THEY have no use for them.. as I don't. So they aren't in fact, important to some.
They are an annoyance at best for me. Always turned them off.
Subtitles can usually be turned off also.
Seeing a notification that xxGamerxx just came online for the 5th time is 30 seconds is an annoyance.. lol
If they are important for some cool.. that's why options are good as long as you can turn them off it's all good.
Sony needs to get them added for those that want them, period.

                        Merry Christmas all...!

Can't eject a disc on Xbox One using the controller? That's weird considering you can do it on Xbox 360.

Personally, I actually like the option to use the controller, mainly because im just so used to doing it but no biggie. Not like it's going to make me change my opinion of buying an Xbox One next Saturday.

Well, my opinion has changed as im buying a Wii U next Saturday instead of an Xbox One. I looked over the games that have been released thus far for both Wii U and Xbox One. There's eight games that I want to play for Wii U and only one for Xbox One. With Ori and the Blind Forest being delayed and the main two games im waiting for (Quantum Break and Rise of the Tomb Raider) not due out until late 2015, I would be buying an Xbox One for Ryse and it will then sit there collecting dust for who knows how long.

Third party wise, I can play them on PlayStation 4 so that's a non-factor for me. It simply comes down to how many games each console has that I currently want to play. I have no interest in online, apps, kinect, etc. All I want is games to play.

By next Saturday, I'll have $150 in Best Buy credit and will be able to get Wii U (and the pro controller) or Xbox One for $200 cash. I plan on owning all three consoles before the end of 2015 and as much as I wanted to buy an Xbox One just so I have the console already, I must admit that im leaning against it as after I finish Far Cry 4, I'll have nothing to play on PS4 until The Order which is two months away.

For those who own Wii U and Xbox One (or all three), I would welcome suggestions, advice, comments, etc. Thanks.

Wii u is great. It's pretty much just become a mario kart machine for me though. Did play some duck hunt yesterday and I'll throw in smash occasionally. Still need to finish off 3d world too. I own wii u and Xbox. I'm pretty happy with both Xbox one gets most of my attention though.
