Re: PlayStation TV (PS TV)
It's $60 today only at Best Buy.
Maybe it's worth picking up again at that price?Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

Re: PlayStation TV (PS TV)
I just picked up a PS3 for what I wanted PS TV for. Other than missing out on some VITA titles I think I made the wiser decision.

Re: PlayStation TV (PS TV)
What's the boot up time look like on a PSTV?
At some point I'd consider buying one to stash behind a PC monitor to be able to toggle it over and play the PS4 or something. $60 won't do it though.
If I were looking to power another TV then yeah, I'd probably just use the PS3 that's stashed in the bedroom unused.Comment

Re: PlayStation TV (PS TV)
Picked this up with the BestBuy deal. For the price I like it a lot, but there is a lot of room for improvement. Remote play frame rates appear to be in the mid 20s (over Ethernet), and the compression in the video brings the quality down to early PS3 levels.
I tested Far Cry 4 and MLB with FC being more than acceptable, but audio in the show was off by 1 second when the bat hits the ball (ex. the ball was almost to the 2nd baseman before the crack of the bat audio played).
Overall, I look forward to seeing how Sony improves this over the next year since it was a major selling point for them when the PS4 was announced.Comment

Re: PlayStation TV (PS TV)
So I could formulate my own opinion, I picked this up again yesterday at Best Buy. $40 is a no-brainer if it's even close to what Remote Play for the Vita is.
I made sure to fully update the firmware, set the framerate and quality to high, and took it to town right alongside my PS4. I did tests playing with the input on the PS TV versus the PS4 (still using Remote Play), then the Vita versus the PS4 (still using Remote Play). I tried it with GTA V and MLB 15: The Show.
Sadly, the input lag just doesn't cut it. I had to be sure that it wasn't just a controller response issue by playing on the PS4's input using RP, and that seemed to be just fine with both games. When playing The Show, I was very good at pinpointing the meter both with the PS4 input and while playing RP on the Vita screen. On PS TV, when I tried to time it the same, the white bar went so far past it that you couldn't see it anymore. That's how much of a delay there is.
It's a nifty little piece of hardware, and if it got the same upgrade that the Vita did with Remote Play earlier this year, it would have been a fine steal. That's not the case, though. It's going back tomorrow.
Someday, I might get it anyway because there are enough games that I have where the lag won't mean as much, or I want to watch a game on MLB.TV, or I want to play a Vita game on a bigger screen. It's not as appealing as playing it on the 5" OLED that it was made for, but $40 really is easy money to buy this with. $100 wasn't quite as easy, even when I tried it the first time. I have faith that someday that input lag can be figured out, and I'll get it then again. Until then, I will always have to try it for myself and not trust the opinions of others unless I am certain.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

Re: PlayStation TV (PS TV)
No idea, but as I said, Remote Play on Vita is seamless. Like, there was a time where it would have been intolerable to game on there, and that ended around March or so. I still remember how ecstatic I was when they put in both 60 FPS and but microseconds of lag! I became so giddy!
Don't know why the PS TV has issues, though. Because even for 720p and such streaming on my 59" screen, it doesn't look that bad! Of course, once you play with the regular PS4 input you realize all that it's missing, but it's still impressive if you can essentially have the PS4 in "multiple rooms."Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

Yeah PS TV sucks for streaming PS4 gameplay.. It is horrible, even with wired connections.. I purchased one a while back for streaming to my bedroom TV and tried it twice and both time the input lag was extremely bad.. Needless to say I havent touched my PSTV since..PSN: duFFleBaG_rAn_
