That's pretty cool. I'd love to go all digital but the pricing just makes it a no go for me. Even with a "decent" amount of disposable/gaming funds I just can't make myself justify the cost difference. I rarely pay over $30 bucks for a newer game (most of the time around $20) and the digital prices just can't compare.
Of course when my disk drive burns up in a year or so I'm guessing it wont be such a savings

I've been digital this entire gen, I won't ever go back to discs. The cons are so minor to me that it doens't matter. The lack of being able to trade games in? Sure, for some games it's been a negative like The Order or Project Cars, but it's nice to have every game I've owned under PS4 at my finger tips if I want it to be. There's been several games already that I deleted only to redownload months later and start playing again. In the past, that would have been me rebuying said game negating that trade value I just got. I remember one year buying NBA 2K 3 times throughout the 9 month period.

My biggest pro, I have 2 kids, they can turn on the PS4 and get to a game without getting discs out, scratching them or trying to figure out how everything works. They just select the game and play. For me that outweighs every single con anyone could come up with.
100% with the kid take! My daughter likes to go in my movie drawer and pull them out thinking it's something to play with. I've gone all digital, but I can only imagine scratched up games would be a serious issue.

Re: Pros and Cons of going to an all-digital game library

The only negative and I think a big one at that is me going all Digital on both systems knowing deep down that I didn't have the time. I've owned both systems and I really only play one and it's the Xbox One.

The PS4 is an awesome system no doubt but I'm just a Xbox man and always have been. I've officially dumped the PS4 and I won't look back. I'm just wish that I would have purchased disk games instead of digital and at least I could have got some of my $$ back as I'm stuck with the license even though I don't have the system.

Advice to those undecided just make sure you buy disk version if you plan or think that you might flip at some point. I could of saved about $700. That's a new set of irons. Lol

Hey if that's what you prefer then go with it. And I too share your concern about not being able to sell, transfer or simply give away licenses. I really think they need to address this.

Since I wrote the original post here I have gone back mostly to disc simply because there are so many good games out now and I don't have the money to pay $59 each, using gamers club unlocked has saved me a lot of money.

I still prefer digital but they really are going to have to have some sort of sales more often and fix the license issue.

Oh and btw, for PS4 people - buy any digital game $59.99 and up through November 7th and get $10 back. Just saw it on Facebook, haven't tried it yet though..

Discounted xbox cards are pretty easy to find. I haven't paid full price for an xbox digital game in a long time.

Re: Pros and Cons of going to an all-digital game library

Still and will always be against digital simply because gamers will not get the discounts and whatnot that they think they will get. Perfect example right now - a year later, The Evil Within is $60 on PSN (sure XBL is the same) but it's retail price is $40. On sale tomorrow at Best Buy for $30 for the upcoming week.

If publishers don't release games digitally at a lower price now with other alternatives (new discs and used discs) available, why would any gamer think that they would without any alternatives? It's basically the same thing as what EA does with Madden. No competition so why give the consumer what they want?

For publishers, it would be simple. Either buy the game for $60, wait for a sale (which may or may not happen) or simply don't buy the game. If anything, digital is going to turn out worse for gamers and considering the amount of DLC, micro-transactions and season passes that ALREADY exist and is ever growing, it's funny how gamers don't see before it eventually happens.

And on a related note - Best Buy's GCU blows away any deal that Sony, Microsoft or third party publisher would do at launch for any game period.

Just my opinion (and yes, I have said the same thing before a million times and yes, you've all read it before a million times too)

Re: Pros and Cons of going to an all-digital game library

We all know that regular digital prices lag behind their physical counterparts. The Evil Within has been on sale on PSN for less than 30 before.

It's all in what you value. I like not having to manage a collection of game discs. How much is that worth to me? Well that depends on the game and how much of a difference. If I can buy a digital currency card for at least 15% off and it's a game that has enough content then that's a no brainer for me.

Yeah....I used the Golden Crisp Xbox coupon to get 60 bucks in Xbox points for 40 actual dollars. Used that to buy Fallout 4 digital, cause I figure I'd enjoy owning that forever.

I can be cheap, still save, and have some digital. Still would be nice to use my BB discount more though...like if you could buy a digital game card in store and get the 20% discount.

Yeah I have noticed that amazon has started selling digital game codes. Which of course are usually full price while their disks are $10 off. Though I'm going to assume if BB starts to, the 20% GCU won't be valid.

Best Buy already has that policy. They sell a few digital cards.

It looks like online they only have add ons and indie games, the other games they have say in store only so can't check online. Though looking at the details it seems to be for all, it actually says "physical."

I'm sticking mainly disc but I did buy 2k16 digital because i know I will play it for a few hundred hours. I can see myself doing that a few times a year for games that I know i will play alot for a long time.

For shorter, story based single player games (Batman AK as an example) I'll stick to dies so I can trade it back. Besides the Mass Effect and Uncharted games I almost never replay single player games.
