I'm all digital myself, never thought I would be, but there are some who like colleting discs, buy for me there is nothing like the digital collection I have when I log into my games screen on my One, and nowadays you don't get crap for ur tradins anymore. I like all digital.

Re: Pros and Cons of going to an all-digital game library

I pretty much went digital after this post. The last straw was when I bought a couple of games for the Xbox One and the inside was basically a hollow shell. Maybe a two page leaflet and that's it. I loved - gasp I'm going to say it - back in the oldin' days when games came with well crafted, high production value manuals, posters, game art, etc. The medium is an afterthought now, which is fine.

That being said, going digital has made me more mindful of my purchases. About a year ago I had found myself buying a lot of games and never having time to play them. I ended up having this guilt of sorts, for not playing them, especially when a new gem would come along, thus adding to the backlog. I dunno, now I buy what I know I really want, play it to completion, and move on.

Pros and Cons of going to an all-digital game library

For me going all digital has saved me money. I would buy a game and play it a while then trade it in only to repurchase it somewhere down the line. Couple that with the fact that I share my games with my oldest son who also has The One. So I get 2 for the price of 1. Going all digital has been a win win for me.

Also like Scoop said. My collection is amazing as well and I've just added 2 more with Madden and GOW and a 3rd is on the way MGSV next week.

Next Gen is really taking off for me. Couldn't say that a year ago

Re: Pros and Cons of going to an all-digital game library

This was the first year since I can remember that my local Gamestop did not get enough Madden pre-orders for a midnight release. Some would say that's more of a commentary on the state of Madden than anything else, but I think it speaks to this digital movement even more. People know they can now download and play AAA games at midnight on release without leaving their home.

Granted, I live in a small town (that is slightly increased by the presence of a decent-sized military base next door) so we're not likely to the point yet where they're going to disappear entirely. But we're getting there.

More shockingly, the same store also does not currently have enough pre-orders for an MGS 5 midnight launch next week. With the overwhelmingly positive metacritic reviews coming out that could still change, but right now it's not looking good.

This has far more to do with the store itself and the location as opposed to digital. Some stores get far less copies than stores that are in bigger markets. At the same time though, the week isn't over so there's always a chance the store gets more copies of MGSV by week's end.

Sorry, probably wasn't clear enough on this. When I say they didn't get enough preorders for a midnight release, I meant they didn't HAVE a midnight release - they didn't open the store last night. My area's store judges the benefit of doing a midnight release based on the number of people who pre-order a game (or multiple games when they release on the same day). Not enough people pre-ordered a physical copy of Madden around here, thus they didn't do a midnight release for it. And MGS 5 is currently in the same boat.

Okay, I gotcha. But at the same time, that doesn't necessarily mean that the game is selling digitally. For those with Xbox One, you could have people who were simply playing the 10 hours on early access and decided against pre-ordering and buying the game.

Every GameStop, Best Buy, etc. only do midnight releases if there's enough pre-orders because to keep the store open and have an extra 5-10 employees that are being paid for minor stuff just isn't worth it most of the time. And pre-orders don't guarantee that those who pre-order the game are going to pick it up at midnight anyway.

I have done four midnight releases ever and all four have been in the last two years. The Last of Us on PS3 for a friend, GTAV on PS3 since I bought the console bundle, Madden NFL 15 but this was due to me working and Best Buy is in the parking lot where I work so it didn't make any sense to go home and come back in the morning when I could just wait a little while and get the game. Last one was for Unity, Rogue and FC4. That was awesome because to get three games all at once was great and this was the same as Madden for me. I'm already there so might as well just wait.

Only the GTAV release was nuts and insane. All the others were 20 people at most so I can understand why stores don't do midnight releases.

I went all digital on PS4. Only con IMO is not being able to trade in games. Really it. I got a 1.5TB HD in mine and have yet to max it. But they sell a 2TB HD now.

Just received a 10% PS Store discount for preordering Madden 16 digitally.

Seems like they're finally throwing a bone to some of us digital guys.

The gamers club is the only reason keeping me from going digital. If they ever offer that I will switch instantly.

I've gone physical but want to go digital now with windows 10 streaming as I find I'm using it a lot. It would be so much easier switching games than having to run downstairs each time if I'm upstairs.

The digital pricing is still an issue though which is stopping me since I never buy new and 5-6 months later, physical is much cheaper.

Last November, a buddy and I decided to get Call of Duty Advanced Warfare so we could play each other online.

I went to Best Buy and bought the disc for $48 with my GCU. He downloaded his from PSN for $60.

Last week, we decided we were done with the game. I took my disc back to Best Buy and got a $20 gift card for it. He deleted his copy from his hard drive.

I basically paid $28 to rent it for 10 months. He paid $60. Until that changes, I'm sticking with physical.

I would go digital if I didnt have 2 PS4's in the house with 2 different users.. If I buy a game digitally and try to allow my son to play it on his primary PS4 he cant, so I would have to make myself primary on his ps4m which is silly to me.. I absolutely hate switching discs, but right now its more important to allow my son to play the games when he want to. If the sharing of digital games was still like the PS3, then I would consider going all digital on the PS4..

I have gone mostly digital on my XBone though, but I only have a few of the free games and Ryse.. I did buy the Assassins Creed disc because it was like $9 at best buy a while back. If I played my XBONE more then I would definitely have a ton of digital games on it.
