Re: Pros and Cons of going to an all-digital game library

Yeah I think they are giving a nice bonus to those who are already prime members and/or don't know about GCU. But those who know about GCU get the better deal because of what was already mentioned about it. Also for those who are impatient, they can pick up in store instead of waiting for UPS.Comment

Brandwin and mgoblue head the nails on the head. Only 2 weeks for Prime, forever for Best Buy. You get a $10 gift card and good trade in credit depending on the game (see annual Madden Deal). So for me that makes the GCU better than this Prime Deal. And I'm only judging apples to apples so I'm not including any other benefits that are included in Prime like free 2 day shipping. Just the video game deal that was released.Comment

I never could have obtained the collection of paid for PS4 games that I have now if not for going digital heavy this generation and I don't regret it at all.

Re: Pros and Cons of going to an all-digital game library

I have changed my stance a bit - After buying a few digital games, I definitely see the love for going digital and not having to switch disks. I think with games I am not going to trade in I might start going that route, even though I could get physical for $12 less and have the option to trade in if I wanted. Went digital with The Division because if I ever decide to trade it in, I won't get but a few bucks. May start doing it with some sports games as well. Thinking of going digital for The Show.Comment

Yeah you really kind of have to try it a bit to see the allure. I too am getting the Show and I"m going digital for that.I have changed my stance a bit - After buying a few digital games, I definitely see the love for going digital and not having to switch disks. The usual argument against digital is you pay more..and that's usually true. But one way I have found that is ideal is to look for Xbox Live and PSN currency on sale and buy those cheaper.

For example, right now on Ebay there is a deal where you can get $100 in PSN currency for $80.

I have bought some in-store games lately, at Best buy for $48...but thankfully once I figured the above out it helps to go digital AND save...Streaming PC & PS5 games, join me most nights after 6:00pm ET on TwitchTV https://www.twitch.tv/shaunh20

Re: Pros and Cons of going to an all-digital game library

Exactly. I used specials on points (xbox points from cereal actually) to get Fallout 4....

Should have found a deal before I got Season pass, but was lazy.

If you want a game for a while then it's mostly worth digital. By the time you'd trade it in you don't get a ton.

Other games you blow through then are done I'd get physical discs.Nintendo Switch Friend Code: SW-7009-7102-8818Comment

Yea I'm starting to think a little more like this. If I was to go digital it would be for games like Fallout. A game I know I will play over and over again and not trade in for at least a couple of years. But I am still getting most sports games physically because I always buy the new release at some point.Exactly. I used specials on points (xbox points from cereal actually) to get Fallout 4....

The irony is you only play the sports games for a year but the trade-in value is usually practically nothing, it seems Madden is the exception of course.Yea I'm starting to think a little more like this. But yet I play Madden a good bit so I don't want to mess with the disc...Streaming PC & PS5 games, join me most nights after 6:00pm ET on TwitchTV https://www.twitch.tv/shaunh20

Re: Pros and Cons of going to an all-digital game library

Madden is the one title that I'm starting to waver on buying digital day 1.

I already play it with Early Access, so I've got my day 1 fix, could take advantage of Amazon or Best Buy deals and then sell it for whatever ($20 or so probably) when it hits the Vault.

I don't normally buy any of the other sports games, just sample them on EA Access and then still have them installed when they hit the Vault.

Will probably just buy it digitally anyways, but was something I was considering now that we have a pattern of retail-to-Vault releases.Comment

I may cancel EA's thing, but it is great for that Madden fix and other sports...I can dl and play for a week and get tired of it....I get my yearly money's worth, so can't really complain. I don't buy sports games anymore though, don't play them long enough and waste of money.Madden is the one title that I'm starting to waver on buying digital day 1.

Re: Pros and Cons of going to an all-digital game library

Year that's what I was getting you have that Madden deal. Where you can get the game for like $10 after all is said and done. Also I usually don't buy sports game on release day because I am waiting for rosters like OSFM, SimWorld, etc. to drop. And the past 4 years I have been attending school so I have to be a little more frugal and I don't have my Xbox at school with me. So I usually get the new games after release and it will only cost me $25 or whatever.Comment

What I think is funny is these fools on Craigslist and Ebay trying to sell games the day of, or week of, release for $50....heck I've looked for games older than 6 months even and they are on there for $50..I'm like, I could buy it used at Gamestop or Best Buy for that!!Year that's what I was getting you have that Madden deal. Re: Pros and Cons of going to an all-digital game library

This obviously doesn't apply to everyone but I regret getting rid of my retro games and wish I kept them all. I think that's why I'll always be physical for as long as they're offered.

There's nothing to say we'll forever be able to access digital obviously but the collector in me (not that I buy a whole lot of games anyway), will keep me always physical.Comment

Re: Pros and Cons of going to an all-digital game library

Another good reason to go digital is having a good reason not to let your bum *** friends and family from borrowing your games and not returning them.

Or when other people play with the games and start putting them in the wrong case.

Right now I can't find my mad max Bluray because my dad was going through my stuff while I was gone. It seems like it's stolen because I can't find it. It's driving me crazy.
