I ended up snagging 2 of those Samsung monitors for $250 each, one for me and one for my son. We bought him a gaming PC for Christmas.

I asked for advice here a few pages ago. As a result, I purchased the BenQ RL2755HM monitor for consoles. Unfortunately, it didn't resolve my issue. I may be looking to unload it...sigh.

      Just letting you guys know.

After 3 different TV's and a brand new monitor all show the same problem, you still think it's an issue with the display?

Won't know until Christmas. Long story, but my son would figure he's getting a gaming PC we got him for Christmas if I opened mine now.

There is something going on. The game plays different on each of those options. But I am over trying to figure it out because it doesn't make much sense.

News finally starting to come out about 4K HDR monitors.

LG thinks its new HDR-compatible displays with exceptional color accuracy will appeal to professionals and gamers alike.

Quick question in regards to ultra wide monitors. Say I want to purchase one for my PS4 Pro. What happens to games that don't support ultra wide viewing? Do I basically get black side bars?

From what I gather, if games can only support up to 16:9 you will get the black bars on the side. I can not think of any ps4 game that supports 21:9 ultra wide at the moment. I could be wrong though.

It wouldn't do some type of scaling to make the game fit your screen completely?

I love the look of them ultra wide, curved monitors but I would hate the black bars being on the side. That would be a deal breaker.

Thank you for asking. And I apologize for the lengthy reply. I tried to be as descriptive as possible.

My issues are primarily with 2K17 gameplay. Like most long-time members here, I've been playing 2K since inception. I have a solid idea of how the players should move. We all know that the movement isn't the greatest (it can be clunky and unnatural), however, I'm experiencing delays which I attributed to input lag after extensive research. As it turns out, I may be wrong about the cause, but the effect is very real.

I will post video, but it's something that's sort of hard to really see. For starters, you'd have to assume that I'm a decent player who generally knows what I'm doing. Without proper context, it looks like I have little idea of what I'm doing. One thing I'd hate to have is a bunch of people hop in and tell me that I'm just bad at the game. I'm not the best player but I"m at least average if not above and have a solid basketball IQ. If it will help, here are few clips. Please note: All I'm focusing on is defending my man. if it helps, please compare my movements to that of my teammates to get a better idea of what I"m saying. I think the issue is easier to see if you are actually playing as opposed to watching, but since I can't invite everyone to my house (LOL) here are some links:

                        http://xboxdvr.com/gamer/Phoenix%20S...video/24358407

http://xboxdvr.com/gamer/Phoenix%20S...video/24773757 (in this one I'm playing a little help D, but towards the end of the middle of the clip I'm trying to get to my man)

When I am playing defense both online and offline, the players are not responsive to my controls. They eventually carry out the desired action but there is a noticeable delay, which often causes me to over or undershoot the distance I intended to cover and leaves the person I'm guarding open. I've trained myself to try to play far off my man and limit my movements to leave room for the lag. I play pro-am and you can see how I am pretty much running around like a chicken with my head cut off compared to my teammates. I've been playing with the same group of people for years and I know they are not experiencing this problem. When I play head to head, I'm pretty much limited to offball defense with the center because defense feels like I"m dragging my players around the court. I am basically fighting the controller. I've stopped playing head to head for that reason.

As mentioned in this thread, I have tried multiple tvs and even a monitor and I am not satisfied. There is a noticeable difference in performance between all the displays I've tried. What I mean to say is, the movement varies from display to display. Awhile ago, I played on a display at a store and the movement was fine (well, as good as it can get for 2K) and relatively responsive. I don't recall which display it was.

As far as my settings, I turn off all noise reduction processes and pretty much any settings that I've read increase lag. I'm not sure what else to do

FWIW, I have noticed an increase in my performance in Call of Duty with the BenQ. Difference between playing on a tv versus the monitor is night and day. Monitor is snappy and responsive. So I'm not saying there is a flaw with the BenQ, what I'm saying is, I had an expectation that it's not meeting.

                        Any other suggestions?

                          Re: Gaming Monitor discussion

Ok, one thing I'm fairly certain on is the various monitors & TV's you have tried are not the problem. TV's in general will have a far greater chance of feeling input lag and is incredibly noticeable on games like Rocket League. Monitors on the other hand you will not feel input lag unless its something else and that is where I'm leaning.

You didn't mention if this was on PC, PS4, or X1. Reason why this matters to me, if this is on PC then what controller are you using? The device could be the issue and having nothing to do with the display. Now this same concept can be applied to consoles as well, for instance my buddy has an X1 and PS4. We were playing Rocket league on the ps4 and everything felt great, we switched to X1 because of a dead PS4 controller and there was insane input lag. We fought for a while trying to figure out why, until we disconnected the controller and tried a new one. Instantly the response time was back to normal, I'm not sure if it was connection issue or a controller hardware issue since I never bothered to ask him about it later but that leads to my point it could be the controller your using.

Next possible option would be "micro-stutter" if this is on PC. I'd suggest opening up steam frame rate and MSI Afterburner to monitor your GPU, GPU Temp, CPU loads, and temp. Look for possible micro-spikes in usage or increased temps would could cause throttling/delay.

All in all I'm fairly positive your problem isn't related to all the displays being the problem. You have either a hardware problem somewhere or simply a placebo effect that 2K is supposed to feel smoother. You didn't test various other games to determine if its only coming from 2k? For me, 2k is anything but precise when it comes to movement & the feel of it. My take is its just 2k sluggish feel and you "thinking" the store feels better, basically expecting the game itself to change when in fact the reason all devices have had same issue is because 2k is the problem, nothing else.

                            Phobia,
I appreciate your response. What I will say though, perhaps I wasn't clear, every display I've owned had varying degrees of this problem, such that I know which display to use compared to others -- so not exactly the same issue across the board. And the store display (it was a random barber shop) played with no complaints. I'm just going to move past this whole test/experiment. Having said that, does anyone have any interest in my monitor? I don't have a need for it, and would give a decent price for an OS member. I hope this is not against the rules.

                            And thanks again, Phobia.

I sit at a gaming desk and went from a 24" BenQ to a 27" LG.

Love em both, can't go wrong either way.
