Agreed. He seems much more personable and open than Shawn Layden, Andy House, and Reggie. I doubt you would see any of them be as open as he was yesterday on the Giant Bomb show.Member of The OS Baseball Rocket Scientists AssociationComment

Re: Microsoft E3 2016 Discussion Thread (Press - 6/13)
I know that he's just a spokesperson, doesn't have final say and answers to those above him but sometimes, he would be better off saying nothing. For example, after Microsoft's E3 conference, he shouldn't be saying a word about Scorpio or anything for that matter. Scorpio shouldn't be talked again about until E3 2017 in my opinion. Spencer, Greenberg and Major Nelson at times send mixed messages that in the end, just confuse everyone and seem to do more harm than good when they talk.
When you look at Sony, except for House the last few days, when do you really hear them ramble on and on? Rarely if ever. Sometimes, less is more. And that's what those three guys need to do.
They should just concentrate on the slim and their games until next year's E3 2017 and they then can talk, promote and market Scorpio.
And to be perfectly honest, I agree with Colin Moriarty when he says that Scorpio is basically Microsoft saying they lost in the PS4/Xbox One console war and instead of trying to catch up, they're simply going ahead with a new console. And while Scorpio will be compatible with all the Xbox One games, it's powerful and upgraded enough to where it could be a brand new console.
Microsoft is going on the offensive and when you think about it, the original Xbox launched in 2001 and four years later, they released Xbox 360. I see Scorpio as their new Xbox 360. New era, new direction, etc.
I don't like the minimal upgrade console crap but if it stays as what it's been said to be, Scorpio is more of a whole new console and generation. Also, the four year gap isn't that big of a deal when you consider the average is five years for consoles.
Basically, Scorpio is to Microsoft what NX is to Nintendo. A do over but going in a new direction with more power behind it. And to be honest, if it's what im thinking, I actually like it.Comment

Re: Microsoft E3 2016 Discussion Thread (Press - 6/13)
I agree that Spencer is passionate and cares about the industry but at the same time, he backtracks a lot. Just these last few days, he's contradicted himself so many times and has backtracked a few times. He said that Scorpio never existed two months ago and well, here we are.
I know that he's just a spokesperson, doesn't have final say and answers to those above him but sometimes, he would be better off saying nothing.
He's not a spokesperson. He does have a lot of say. He's head of the Xbox division.
Completely agree thereComment

Re: Microsoft E3 2016 Discussion Thread (Press - 6/13)
I get that he's not trying to hide but he's just confusing everyone and going back and forth. One minute he says you need to buy a 4KTV to go with Scorpio and then the next interview, you don't. Makes no sense.
If anything, their plan seems to just be confusing the hell out of people. Spencer and the rest don't need to say anything about Scorpio or the plan related to it and here's why - it's 18 months away. People know it exists and that it's coming at the end of 2017. In a year from now, we will all remember Scorpio and be once again interested.
Look at the message from Major Nelson three years ago before Microsoft decided to not do what they originally wanted to do. All he did was alienate everyone when he said that for those who didn't want to be always online, etc., to go buy an Xbox 360.
To me, talking more just hurts them. No reason to. Concentrate on the Xbox One slim and their games for the next 12 months.
Recore, Forza Horizon 3, Gears of War 4 and one year timed exclusive Dead Rising 4 in December (don't get me started on the timed exclusive) is way better than Sony's lineup this year and those guys should concentrate on the positives and the strengths that they currently have.
That's what I would do. No reason to talk about Scorpio and try to explain it and then backtrack or revise the statement or whatever. Of course, this is just my own personal opinion.Comment

Now you use n4g, lol. There is a reason n4g, and Gamingbolt (their sister site), is banned from NeoGaf. They are crap console war click bait sites.
Nothing is official until it is officially announced. Otherwise it is all heresay and 'rumors'.
You seem uspset, and taking things way too close to heart. I say both are guilty of PR spin or disconnect at times, and you have to push the one sided coin.

But I digress as I stated I love the games Sony mentioned but you stated that it was about time MS had release dates. When Sony announces games years in advance. If that is what tickles your fancy then all good.
Do both companies have pushed back games? Yes of course but MS announced a mixture of set dates and development games.
Sony? Not so much except a release date for a game announced 7 years ago LGComment

Me and NY rarely if ever agree but I have to agree with him in regards to Sony showing games too early. According to Kinda Funny, the developers for the game Days Gone said that it's not safe to assume that the game is coming out in 2017, meaning the game could very well be a 2018 title. In this regard, im very disappointed. Was definitely hoping for 2017.Comment

I think two of top 5 highlights from E3 came from this conference. Scorpio and the Play Anywhere lineup.

We've had other spokespeople in the past that could and would spin things, guys like Yusuf Medhi come to mind, because that's what they are trained to do. But not Phil. What you see on stage is who he is.?The Bulgarian Brothers - a story of two brothers (Oggy and Dinko) as they coach in the NCAA and the NBA.
