Plus it's kinda anti-social. If people are over I can't imagine sitting there with that on my head.

Though maybe the world will just adapt and become like Ready Player One where we all have VR suits.

A HDR 4k TV would be used everyday at my house for hours....That's a much easier sell to the boss lol
First, congrats on the twins!! That's great.

The future isn't vr suits but similar to the star trek holodeck which some are speculating possibly within 15 -20 years.........

Some of the research that would go into technologies used on a holodeck is being done at AMD’s research facilities in Markham, Ont., where the company’s graphics product delivery operations are headquartered

      Thanks!

A holodeck would be cool, but not holding my breath just yet.

I'm happy letting this gen of VR percolate a while and end up with something cheaper yet better...Kinda seeing Gen 1 as a Apple first generation product, and I avoid them like the plague. The Gen 2 is always what they wanted gen 1 to be.

I have said this before but I just think time will tell. Pro and VR both may end up much better in the end than they appear at launch.

I always knew it wouldn't have the resolution of the PC headsets but the reports of tracking issues is concerning.

This was said before in this thread but I do feel like it is pretty clear that VR will never be the "new normal." No matter how successful it is (and I do think PSVR will succceed) it will never fully replace controller/tv console gaming.

I remember hearing something similar too JBear. Found this piece from Impulse Gear that pretty much confirms it with their interview with Uploadvr.

“Across the board, it’s more crisp. That’s because we are rendering roughly twice as many pixels. So absolutely everything will look clearer,” said Greg Koreman, co-founder of Impulse Gear, the studio behind PS VR exclusive first-person shooter, Farpoint. “We are using Unreal Engine 4. We’ve done a little bit of work ourselves, but overall it was a really smooth transition — and it’s not exactly a transition. We are supporting both PS4 and PS4 Pro. So it was very easy to do it.”

Different developers will use the increased power in different ways — maybe more objects on screen or a better draw distance. But Impulse Gear decided for science fiction first-person shooter Farpoint to render the same assets as before, just at a higher resolution before pushing it to the 1080p lenses of the PlayStation VR.

Sony revealed the PlayStation 4 Pro console at a press conference last week. With roughly 2.3X the graphical power of the original PS4, Sony stressed the ability to play games in 4K resolution, with HDR, if your television supports those formats. Using that extra power for PlayStation VR was

You should see the HTC Vive then. It's much worse.

Yeah, lighthouses and sync cable will do that. End result is probably the best tracking between all the headsets though. Still considering permanently putting some mounts in the living room and office and retiring my tripods. Wish I could just get another set of lighthouses, but oof they're expensive.

                  What games are y'all getting?

I preordered PS Worlds, Loading Human, and Until Dawn. I'm leaning towards Job Simulator and Driveclub. I'm also gonna pick up Here They Lie and Robinsons The Journey. Maybe a few more. I have $140 in PSN gift cards left plus the spend $100 get $15 promotion PSN is doing.

A previous launch for the HTC Vive, Cherry Pop Games is announcing that Pool Nation VR is releasing this month on PS VR. Instead of 2, there will now be 8 multi-players where you can play a number of bar type games, and enjoy VR liquor as well as trash the place?!

                        Re: PS VR

My PSVR came in before I had to go to work. I played Playroom VR as my games haven't got here yet but this thing is pretty sweet. Graphics aren't bad at all and haven't had any problems with the camera tracking the headset. A 360 degree view is pretty awesome and no motion sickness but of course I spent 3 years underway so I'm used to that stuff.

The wires are a little bit of a hassle and I'll have to rearrange my set up a little bit.

So far I'd say it's worth it. I haven't played any legit games yet. Just some mini games but the potential is there.

I tired Rocket League in the cinematic mode. It was pretty cool. It was like sitting in a movie theater. The graphics were a little worse but nothing too noticeable. I will say graphics isn't a big deal to me.

It made me wish Rocket League would come out with VR. Being able to look around to where the ball is would be pretty awesome.

I also tried the Hulu app as an update came out for VR. You start off in a nice living room overlooking a city and you pick tv or VR mode. I went with VR mode and did a fly around Las Vegas. The quality was pretty bad for that video. I didn't try tv mode.

I did want to add that when I was playing in the Playroom VR you can see your controller for some of the game and mine didn't have that jittery problem that was reported in some reviews. It stopped moving when mine did. This was the DS4. I haven't tried the move controllers.

If you ever want to reset the screen position you just press the options button. This came in handy when my wife played since she's almost a foot shorter than I and then I had to do it again when I played.

Still not sure about the PSVR, I've wanted a Sony HMZ for some years now but couldn't justify the £800.00 cost.
When PSVR was announced as having similar functionality in it's cinematic mode I immediately preordered.
I'm now at a point where the cinematic mode has had poor reviews & I'm in two minds on keeping my preorder.
Is Cinematic mode as bad as has been reported ?
