I agree with you. Wrong price point. But it's sold out. So it's clear people don't mind the price. It's not going to hurt Nintendo so it's probably misguided complaints.

The real complaint is the lack of systems and whether or not Nintendo is actually ready for this console. That's my concern regarding its actual survival.

I agree here....plus bluetooth audio/chat isn't great quality usually, which is why the other consoles went the plug in route.

For those of you with small children who like to put things in their mouths, they won't like the taste of the small plastic cartridges! This was done intentionally by Nintendo.

Remains to be seen how much of the demand in the US is speculation tbh.

            Demand is another story.

All we know for sure is you can't buy it right now. It's sold out. So the price hasn't stopped the people that want to pre-order.

We will definitely learn more soon. I figure sales numbers won't be that amazing.

I have zero interest in the Switch for myself, but I don't know how you can really support the argument that it is too expensive in this market, they seem to not be pricing themselves out right now with the Switch.

I don't know if you can say the price is not going to hurt it. Launch just about ever system sales out. Ps3 I think sold out at launch but its price hurt them for a while and was a big reason xbox360 was out pacing ps3 for a while in sales. So the question is how will the switch do in April, May, June etc as there are more systems to buy. I have heard that for Launch there is only going to be 2 million Switches word wide and that is like nothing. So with only 2 million to go around Word wide of course it is going to sale out.

Didn't the Wii U sell out at release? That doesn't mean it's a success....

Pretty much all of the analysis I have seen of it, including people who actually do this stuff for a living agree it's at the wrong price point. I just bought a 4K Xbox One S for $220 for goodness sake! The fact that it's "sold out" means nothing, the Wii U did quite well on its initial offering too. Nintendo creates a product that has its die hard supporters who will gladly pay it, as is evidenced by this thread, and then creates a small amount of it and it sells out. They've done that with just about everything they've ever sold.

This price point is ok for market entry, although it's already excluding some folks like myself who might have otherwise purchased it. And others also have issue with it, again as evidenced by this thread. But it's a long hard road to success, in a utterly brutal area of sales and let's be honest here, a $299 price point is simply not sustainable once the initial offering "honeymoon period" ends and the Nintendo diehards get their systems. Nintendo had damned well better adapt, especially for the sake of early adopters who want to see it succeed.

We'll see if Nintendo really knows what they're doing this fall when Sony and Microsoft plays their usual price wars and Scorpio debuts. If they leave the Switch hanging out there with a huge $299 price point and very little stock, it doesn't bode well for its long term success.

Don't get me wrong, I'm rooting for Nintendo and although it may look like I'm hating, I'm only a bit perturbed that they seem to "not get it" in regards to the Nintendo Switch, at least from what I've seen so far. But they have plenty of time to correct their mistakes and adapt. I want a healthy Nintendo who makes hardware and 1st party games. They offer an experience neither of the other two really offer. I grew up with Nintendo so if I seem a little angry about it and not buying into the Switch it's because I don't see it succeeding and I don't see Nintendo is "getting it", in regards to what they are up against.

It almost seems to me as if Nintendo thinks it's the 1980's and they have no real competition and I honestly don't get it. It just doesn't look good for me so far, I was hoping they'd have a better price point, more games and a real online system. With that being said, when, and if, the price either drops down or they have a better bundle, I will tentatively buy in.

Get it together Nintendo, please..for all of our sake.

The price is the least of my concerns. For a hybrid console I think its fair.

Now, if they can work out the kinks and keep a nice flow of games then I'll have a better reason to buy it.

If, in the month of November/December when going up against the PS4 and XB1 during the Holiday sales, the Switch is still sitting at 299, I will agree with you.

The WiiU sold out preorders too. The people realized there's no secondary market for them and there were stacks of them. I would bet a good number of systems are sold to resellers right now. Hoping to cash in on lighting in a bottle again for Nintendo.

If the switch is 299 come November/December it is going to be really bad in less they are doing a 299 bundle with both like Zelda and Mario or something. Most likely by November ps4 slim will be 250 or even 200 and Pro 350 maybe even 300 and xboxone slim right around 250-200 and that doesn't even include what bundles they may both have. I could see a slim and maybe a pro bundle for ps4 with Horizon with the system instead of the normal Uncharted 4 slim bundle that has been going on.

I bet it's still $299. Nintendo products don't generally discount.
