Like with the wii u and only having one price cut even with it not sailing well and Sony and Microsoft would never show a new system in just a 3 minute video and then not talk about it for a few months and want to only like 2 months before the system comes out to talk more about it.

Well Microsoft announced a new system about 6 months ago and haven't said a word about it since then.

That is different though. There system is around a year from coming out where with Nintendo like 5 months. That means they had like 7 more months to market there system. What Nintendo is doing would be like Microsoft coming out with Scorpio in November next year and basically not showing much in till September. There is no way we are not going to now full specs, price and some games for Scorpio in till all the way to September in less it where to get pushed back and be like 2018 or something.

Scorpio is different because when it was announced, it was 18 months away. Switch gets officially announced and it's only five months away from launch. Of course, I still wouldn't be surprised if come early 2017, Nintendo delays Switch to September.

Yeah that is what I mean by being different and yeah I am still thinking it will be pushed back to September. If it was really going to be march I am convinced we would have seen the system much sooner like at this years E3. Not really giving any real big details in till like 2 months before it comes out just dose not sound right. Heck ps4 pro got like 2 months and it is not even a new gen like Switch is.

The One S was also announced and released in the same time period.

Yeah but that was not a new gen that was just a smaller system big difference.

                  .

There's definitely a way it can be 250. I actually think under pricing is the way to go for Nintendo here. I just hope it doesn't mean it's also a machine that underperforms.

Re: Nintendo Switch Announced, Scheduled to Release March 2017

$250 is the only way that this succeeds. Again, pricing it effectively the same as PS4 and Xbox One at $299 will kill its chances.

Also, one thing to note that is the biggest issue aside from price point is something I see in this thread, a large group of people who got burnt by the Wii U taking a "wait and see" approach.

If it doesn't sell right out of the gate for the above two reasons it could be disastrous as it will lose support from third party and the "wait and see" crowd will keep on waiting.

I'm hopeful that this succeeds but I think if Nintendo follows what some in this thread seem to be saying it will most likely be a huge flop and spell the end for Nintendo.

Sorry but there's just not enough older gamers who travel frequently like some in this thread to make this thing a success. Children? Yes but just getting the children market is doubtful enough to have this work and work well - they need to get some of the actual gamer market as well and its a tough sell unless they meet a certain price point and/or have the software that makes it a compelling sale in year 1.

Why do you have to travel to take advantage of the portability?

Taking it to the bathroom, sitting next to the fiancee while she watches TV, or just taking it outside in the backyard is enticing enough for me.

I can do the most important thing here with Wii U. Not the bathroom or backyard but I would see no reason to over do that. I don't go outside to play video games and I'm not in the bathroom enough to want to play in there either haha.

The big one there is someone else wants to us the TV. Now I don't have to unplug my system and move it in order to play my games while someone else is watching.

For me it comes to down to two (that's a lotta to's) things price point and the third party support. I know the wii had a little third party support but I don't think that lasted all that long. So I'm hoping that the third party support stays around for the long haul.

I wonder if they are going to make everyone buy virtual console content over again.

My biggest issue with Nintendo (unless changed and I didn't know) is how they handle digital games.

Isn't all downloaded content tied to console and not NNID? Like when/if I sell my Wii U and unlink my NNID from it ,I lose all digital games I had on that system. Only way to keep is if I transfer it to another system before selling.

I remember when I went to 3DSXL .. I had to buy the system then transfer my stuff from old 3DS to the XL.. then I was able to sell my old 3DS.

Anyways I am pre-ordering but will keep close eye on the games etc..

It hasn't changed. I've had to buy the same game on my 3ds and Wii U. It's silly.
